Schindlers List was the film that stuck in my mind and well worth the Oscar that it received.

I am delighted for Olivia- anyone who can blow a raspberry at the Oscar's gets my vote anyway. Thoroughly deserved I expect although I have not yet seen the film.
I could not sit through La La land & I found the language in 3 Billboards too much for me & I am not a prude at all.
I think they churn out too many films now rather than go for quality.
I wish they made more films like Lawrence of Arabia or The Sting. Something to really get into & want to watch more than once.
Having said that I loved The Greatest Showman!

I really like Olivia Colman she's been a favourite for quite a while now, mostly on the small screen. So now she's won the Oscar for Best Actress I guess that propels her into a different league.

However, I can't help thinking that "The Favourite" wasn't particularly my favourite, it wasn't the profanity, I found it quite watchable, but not fantastic. As for the overall winner from a couple of years ago "La La Land" I really thought that was a damp squib of a film and much preferred "Lion" which I found captivating, well certainly the first half filmed in India. I also enjoyed "Seven Billboards" and thought Casey Affleck turned in a really great performance, in the very bleak "Manchester By The Sea" However, with the exception of "Lion" I can't remember the last time I was blown away by a multi Oscar winning film. Maybe "The English Patient", "Gladiator", although the "Godfather 1 and 2" would be standouts for me, hell of a long time ago now.

Just feeling that a lot of Oscar winners are a bit meh these days. What about you? what would your stand outs be? I'm sure I've forgotten some.
