We watched the latest episode yesterday and I realised that I have lost track of the personal relationships - could someone please remind me. Thank you.

I love Shetland even though I often have no flipping idea what is going on.

Fair Isle is around 3 hours from Lerwick by ferry so not readily accessible even in good weather. Think there are only around 4/5 dozen residents.

I assumed that Jimmy was a Shetlander from the BBC website - I got it wrong then.

He is but not from the main island. He would know his classmate cohort from secondary school but not necessarily the wider community on the main island.

He didnt settle on shetland until I think he moved back with fran from ??London?? But I think he did a stint in Glasgow at some point too as far as I know.

Fair Isle is not very accessible you wouldnt regularly pop over to lerwick. The fair isle secondary students boarded/lodged and weather dependant went back to fair Isle for the holidays. It cant as far as I know be accessed by big ferries etc its quite a rough plane landing too going by the book.

Fair Isle is a very different self contained community

Alice's husband went out so was he trafficking these poor souls?
Alice, in the meantime, has been designated to keep Jimmy occupied.

I thought that was how it worked Marydoll, but wasn't sure. Thank you.
Rather like our CPS

She doesn't seem very busy - the devil makes work for idle hands so they say.

Bluebelle I thought perhaps whoever was transporting the trafficked people on the boat panicked and threw them overboard.

Gonegirl Fri 15-Mar-19 11:14:14

Yes. That's what I think Bluebell. Getting really bad now.

BlueBelle Fri 15-Mar-19 10:26:07

Gonegirl I might be wrong but I was presuming that the bodies were the next lot of people trafficked and the boat had hit trouble but I may be quite wrong (I usually am)

In Scotland the procurator fiscal is a lawyer who works for the Crown Office, Jimmy Perez works for Police Scotland, they are two different bodies.
At times they work together on joint protocols.
The police gather the evidence and report to the Fiscal, who then decides whether to prosocute or not.

I think that's the gist of it! grin

Greyduster Fri 15-Mar-19 10:06:57

Rhona is Procurator Fiscal and therefore Jimmy’s boss. In series four (I think) she was having a relationship with her boss, Phyllis Brennan, played by Anna Chancellor, who I think had some sort of cloud hanging over her at the end but I can’t remember what it was.

Gonegirl Fri 15-Mar-19 10:01:19

But what's with the bodies in the sea? It gets worse!

crystaltipps Fri 15-Mar-19 09:36:01

Fairisle is one of the Shetland Islands though, it’s south of the main island.

Jalima1108 Fri 15-Mar-19 09:33:34

notanan yes, she is hanging around a lot - I just thought it was beacause she didn't have a lot to do!
Is she Perez's boss or is she the Procurator Fiscal or is that the same thing? I'm not sure of the system in Scotland.

I assumed that Jimmy was a Shetlander from the BBC website - I got it wrong then.

lemongrove Thu 14-Mar-19 21:30:59

Thanks notanan I definitely missed that bit.

notanan2 Thu 14-Mar-19 20:40:10

Jimmy Perez is (as I understand it) a Shetlander.

Jimmy is from fair Isle then moved south I think

notanan2 Thu 14-Mar-19 20:34:55

She saw her son on the news and travelled to shetland lemongrove

There are probably people deep undercover within the crime ring and Perez's boss is sabotaging his "little" investigations to protect the bigger investigations IYKWIM.

She is hanging about the station a lot..

lemongrove Thu 14-Mar-19 15:53:40

I think I must have dropped off early in the series, as I can’t work out why Zezi’s Mum is on Shetland? She is staying at the hotel there but why?
She has a Southern English accent so obviously didn’t live in the Shetlands ( or grow up there?)

I’ve started reading the books as Imwanted tomknow the back story of Perez and Fran. It’s quite interesting going from current TV and back tomwhen Cassie was a child. I wondered if Tosh s new boyfriend was a baddie, but surely Tosh would be more professional than to give away the ransom set up?

Susan56 Thu 14-Mar-19 12:10:49

Greyduster?Luckygirl,I think I may have to buy the Radio Times!

Luckygirl Thu 14-Mar-19 12:08:06

All I will say is that if you get next week's Radio Times there are some hints dropped that support one of the above theories!

Farmor15 Thu 14-Mar-19 12:05:49

Plot is very complicated this time- hope everything will get clearer in last episode. I enjoy these dramas- looking forward to next series of Line of Duty. It’s the speculation and discussions about suspicions that make them fun.

Farmor15 Thu 14-Mar-19 12:03:12

My OH suspects Sandy but I have more suspicions about Alice

Jalima1108 Thu 14-Mar-19 11:49:48

We're here for him Greyduster smile

Greyduster Thu 14-Mar-19 11:45:49

Gosh, Susan56! If that happens he’ll go into more of an emotional decline than he’s in now and join Duncan on the beach! They’ll probably walk into the sea together!

Jalima1108 Thu 14-Mar-19 11:38:48

I think we should write the last episode.

Is Alice using her 'safe refuges' to house some of the people being trafficked?

Susan56 Thu 14-Mar-19 11:23:59

Jalima,definitely!!

Jalima1108 Thu 14-Mar-19 09:42:23

I second that Susan56 - well, we have to get rid of her somehow!
