BBC comedy?

I've been wondering why the BBC can provide such good radio comedies yet such dire TV ones. Warren is awful, Mrs Brown's Boys is a 70s throwback, Fleabag is not only not funny but actively offensive etc etc.
QI and the various comedy panel shows are good but the sit coms? Just no.
Somehow Channel 4 does them well. From the early days of Cheers and the incomparable Frasier to Father Ted and the IT crowd they provide comedy gold. Currently Derry Girls is excellent. Amazing to find such fun against a sectarian background. Of course it's the characters that do it!
Come on BBC what's wrong with you?

BBC just don’t do comedy anymore - apart from ‘Open all Hours’. ,which I do still find funny. Watched the first ‘Warren ‘ but won’t be watching it again. Not remotely funny and Martin Clunes is capable of so much more!
I enjoy ‘Would I Lie to You? ,but Lee Mack often spoils it by butting in and being too fond of himself.

No comedy for me. Many comics rely on repetition once they get a laugh and half their patter is boring and offensive.
I don't rate any of them.

I quite like the odd episode of Miranda. She is amusing and some of the cast are good. I watched 5 minutes of Fleabag and I depaired about what we have become.

Radio Four and the Beeb generally are dire due to the political correctness which sucks the life out of humour, That said, ‘1AA’ was brilliant and ‘This Country’ most amusing. On the other channels ‘Derry Girls’ is actually funny.

Do you remember a Radio 4 sitcom, 'Cabin Pressure' about a very budget airline? My DS played the CD in the car when we went to France and the GC adored it. Fast forward a few years and I find that my nephew has done the same for his two sons and they love it too. Oh and I must admit that it made long car journeys quite bearable. It featured (among others) a young Benedict Cumberbach.

I also like Lee Mack. Loved Dad's Army, Porridge,Eric Sykes and Rising Damp. Some of the American series are good too eg Cheers and Frasier, also Soap and Roseanne. I was eventually persuaded to watch Big Bang Theory, and I must admit, I do laugh often. ( Jim Parsons is so convincing ). I've watched bits of Live from the Apollo, and often wonder why the audience are laughing.

Upstart Crow is very clever and I just love Two Doors Down.

Cabin Pressure is great, annodomini. It also has the wonderful voice of Roger Allam!
