I'm starting this new thread as apparently our other one was over a year old!! shock

We'll have to do more gossiping to prevent this happening again.

Here's a link to the old one.

Shula or Elizabeth maybe. Perhaps he will have an affair with Susan.

FountainPen Fri 05-Apr-19 23:24:25

Has Jakob been written in as a romantic interest for Shula? Can't get a handle on how old he is. On first few listens he sounds about as exciting as Alistair and not a man who would open up in conversation but early days. Maybe an evening in the cider shed would loosen him up. smile

phoenix Fri 05-Apr-19 21:59:18

Thanks for the info! Will be listening intently.

FountainPen Fri 05-Apr-19 21:42:32

He said it would be short-notice, night-time driving job delivering chemicals, herbicides and pesticides that hadn't gone through the "usual paperwork" so presumably either knock off or maybe banned substances.

Maybe even Peggy is feeling the pinch a bit. Presumably she is still paying Christine's care fees for The Laurels but it's more likely just a contrived storyline to add to Ed and Emma's financial woes and push Ed into the dodgy driving job.

I noticed that former editor Keri Davies is back writing scripts so look out for more sensational stories.

merlotgran Fri 05-Apr-19 21:31:02

He wants Ed to do some dodgy driving, phoenix. Can't remember what he wants delivered but sounded like something HMRC might be interested in.

I'm looking forward to an encounter between Jakob and Tracey Horrobin although he might be another Charlie Thomas and a smitten Adam will invite him round to look at his hydroponics.

phoenix Fri 05-Apr-19 21:07:22

I missed what Tim was asking Ed to do, please enlighten me!

Iam64 Fri 05-Apr-19 20:59:27

Peggy 'letting Emmer go' seems harsh to say the very least. Especially as even Peggy oughta realise that Kate couldn't clean her plate from the table, much less keep the cottage to the standard Peggy expects and is used to.

What about crooked Tim, trying to lead Ed astray then saying he doesn't need him when Ed quite rightly declines to get involved in dodgy stuff. We haven't had a Grundy in HMP for a while, it would be awful if the next turned out to be Ed. give the boy a break.

phoenix Fri 05-Apr-19 19:31:17

I must admit to being surprised at Peggy behaving like that, wondering if there is more to this than meets the ear, so to speak.

maryeliza54 Fri 05-Apr-19 19:17:07

Peggy you horrible horrible woman. I hope Kate ruins your precious ornaments and furniture and rugs. You selfish entitled hypocrite

Scribbles Fri 05-Apr-19 11:48:55

Judging by the way Shula enthused over Jakob's abilities with the organ, maybe he'll win her pious heart with his swells and crescendoes?

LullyDully Fri 05-Apr-19 10:52:35

Yes ever the voice of sense. Love how he stood up to Linda over the Canterbury Tales.

Just hope the new vet isn't a stereotypical Scandinavian. Who is left to pair him off with....Kate?

AyjayF Fri 05-Apr-19 09:47:04

Good old Jim. Shula had that coming

FountainPen Wed 03-Apr-19 22:33:00

I'm worried about what Lavina Rafferty might do to his googlies. Rumour has it she offers more than Fika. Sorry ... lowering the tone post by post.

merlotgran Wed 03-Apr-19 22:18:51

Jakob will probably be an ace fast bowler.

FountainPen Wed 03-Apr-19 21:39:33

So do I. Maybe the debt collectors just haven't caught up with Nocasha yet. Were we ever told why her previous relationship ended? I can't help thinking this is going to be marry in haste ...

Why are the Bridge Farm Archers so worried about money? Didn't they make 900K from the Elliott land sale?

What do we think of Jakob? I can't wait for the scene in the village shop when Susan tries to thumbscrew information from him.

Did I hear Roy mention nets? The countdown to the season and The Ambridge Single Wicket begins. Will there be enough tired men to make up a team or will women come to the rescue again?

SisterAct Wed 03-Apr-19 20:40:10

I think Tom is right to be worried about all these cards and £15,000 debt. Is this just the tip of the iceberg ? And as for Roy saying Tom may have overreacted tonight Mmmm

AyjayF Tue 02-Apr-19 14:38:36

Yes. Freddy is back and is going to be an obnoxious pain as ever.
Jacob (? Yacob) sounds like he could be a promising new character?

LullyDully Tue 02-Apr-19 14:07:44

Good to see Freddy is as irritating as ever..

merlotgran Mon 01-Apr-19 13:39:31

Nocasha Love it! grin

FountainPen Mon 01-Apr-19 12:17:12

Shh! Don't mention the goats to Nocasha. She'll have a debt-laden app-driven business called Stinky Cheese in a Box up online before the day is out.

Nor have we heard anything lately about Pat's volunteer work at The Elms or of her friend Olwen played by the wonderfully stroppy Alison Steadman.

The tea party dialogue suggests we might her from CallMeDan soon. I wonder if he's still with chaste Dorothy?

merlotgran Mon 01-Apr-19 10:13:50

Everyone at Bridge Farm seems to have forgotten about Pat's goats. hmm

LullyDully Mon 01-Apr-19 09:23:59

Ah, but what is really worrying me greatly, is when Kate is starting her goat yoga classes. Shame I don't live in Borsetshire.confused

I agree there are no rules about the number of godparents, indeed the parents can be the godparents themselves but it's traditional to have at least three, two female and one male for a girl.

I can't fathom why Pip and Toby are scrabbling around for a second male (Riccardo) unless it's a clumsy attempt to bring a new character into the drama. Why on earth would Pip want someone she has never met as godfather to her child unless the writers are trying to make a point about the futility of it all when neither parent is a practising Christian? Well done, Ben, for standing firm.

It doesn't sound like prison has changed Freddie one bit. Still as annoying and not a shred of remorse for all he has put his family through.

Scribbles Sun 31-Mar-19 22:19:00

I had two of each gender (for all the good it did me - all relatives and none more than half hearted believers). My parents only had my sister and me christened because they felt they "ought" to and it was an excuse for a party; they certainly weren't believers themselves
I agree - full marks to Ben and it's a shame more in R/L don't share his principles.

mumofmadboys Sun 31-Mar-19 22:17:52

There are no rules on godparents re number or sex of them.
