seacliff I am starting to believe this is the magic of this series.
It IS so awful that you have to keep watching to see what happens.
I find it very annoying and i can not
stand the stupid son and his girlfriend but i am compelled to watch to see if Cathy has a melt down and tells them all where to go!!!! smile

seacliff Sat 18-May-19 09:58:59

Glad I'm not the only one travelsafar. that girlfriend ….words fail me !!!! I will persevere (a bit longer).

Labaik Sat 18-May-19 16:33:33

To be honest, I think it's the sort of comedy [dramedy?] that you either get straight away or don't get. I wouldn't persevere.

It was like sitting in a comfy armchair watching the new episode. I’m tempted to binge watch as there’s nowt on telly over the weekend.

KatyK Sat 18-May-19 18:27:32

I thought I'd watch it after recommendations on here. I thought it was awful. Maybe you have to watch from the beginning. I'll try to find it.

Namsnanny Sat 18-May-19 20:59:16

KatyK….Sorry you didn't like it. Not everything clicks with all of us, but if you can be bothered give it another go.

Watch the first series, reveal in the slow disclosure of the different facets of each character.

Take the Grandad character, seemingly a misogynist. Complaining constantly about his wife. Watch his actions, how gentle he is with her, considering his harsh vocabulary. This type of dichotomy is in all of us imv.

My son just came back from the cinema, and the film he saw was highly recommended, but he left half way through as he thought it was awful.
We cant all like everything.

sorry 'revel'

Absolutely loved this, and have binge-watched Series 3 which is set over a week rather than different months. The acting is quite wonderful, the underlying hope, despair, heartbreak, tenderness and love is conveyed by everyone so beautifully.

kittylester Sun 19-May-19 18:01:04

namsnanny, I think you are as big a fan as dh and I.

GeorgyGirl Sun 19-May-19 18:03:25

I watched all the last series on i-player too. I would have enjoyed it all better if they didn't keep swearing, I don't think they needed it, why do they always have to use the F-word all the time, it spoilt it for me, otherwise a very good series.

AyjayF Sun 19-May-19 19:22:09

I couldn't resist watching all of series 3 on iPlayer.Perfect!
I don't mind swearing. Quite like it actually.

lemongrove Sun 19-May-19 20:07:47

Sorry ( hides behind sofa) I did watch two episodes of this when it first aired........hated it.

annsixty Sun 19-May-19 20:21:21

It wasn't the most riveting thing to watch.
I wanted to scream at them all to do something, anything, to move their lives along.
They all needed to act on their feelings instead of shllly shallying for two years
However I enjoyed it, particularly the last series which I watched on iPlayer in one session.

Shirleyw Mon 20-May-19 04:38:59

Was great...love mum.

farview Fri 24-May-19 20:02:12

Well I loved the first two series...and was so looking forward to this one But finding it really irritating...

Sara65 Fri 24-May-19 21:19:27

I watched two episodes last night, I think the characters in this series are even more exaggerated, I mean, that girlfriend is so stupid, that you can’t take her seriously as a character
I didn’t see series 1, a bit of background please, why is the brother, whose clearly got an IQ in single figures, so stinking rich?
I agree about the dad though, something quite sweet about him

Floradora9 Sat 25-May-19 16:00:08

I have lost patience with this programme . It is like wading through treacle .

kittylester Sat 25-May-19 16:02:42

The brother isn't rich but his partner is in the throes of separating from a rich husband - I think!

Sara65 Sat 25-May-19 16:30:38

Thankyou Kitty

seacliff Sun 26-May-19 15:03:54

I did watch it all, but very mixed feelings about it. Not an enjoyable programme for me.

Some parts are very sad. The way the mother treats her daughter Kelly, so cruel. And likewise Derek with his awful partner.

Sara65 Sun 26-May-19 15:13:18

I thought the last series, I didn’t see the first one, was a bit sad, but fairly realistic, I’m finding this series, a bit stupid, still like mum though

mumofmadboys Wed 29-May-19 23:02:42

I watched it for the first time tonight after recommendations on GN. Didn't enjoy it at all.

katie1 Thu 30-May-19 19:36:44

I love 'Mum', It is so frustrating that they can't get it together. I am sure a lot of children, including grown up ones, try to prevent their parents from being happy with someone else, because of their own sense of loyalty to the deceased parent.

kittylester Fri 31-May-19 07:42:51

I still love it! I'm watching it as it comes rather than binge watching it.

Can anyone tell me who plays the woman owner of the house? I nearly drove myself, and dh, mad last night trying to find out but with no joy.

LullyDully Fri 31-May-19 08:02:57

She used to be the daughter in that comedy with Robert Lindsay and Zoe Wanamaker.
