What makes you reach (or run!) for the Off button?

For my late father, it was The Archers theme music, which he referred to as the “dum- de-dums “
At the first notes he would do a Usain Bolt across the room to turn the radio off.
For me, I’m afraid it is The Listening Project.
Intrusive? Boring? I don’t know, I just can’t stand it.
(Just a Minute comes a close second!)

Jeremy Kyle! So glad he's been shown the door!

Frannygranny Thu 27-Jun-19 17:07:54

Celine Dion. She shouts instead of sings. Why she has so many fans is beyond me. Sorry if anyone really likes her.

GrauntyHelen Thu 27-Jun-19 17:07:50

and another for Elaine's laugh it drives me potty

Parsley3 Thu 27-Jun-19 17:05:45

Sports pundits have me reaching for the mute button. Ex footballers waffling on about how the game should be played set my teeth on edge. An as for golf commentators......grrr.

Nick Robinson, increasingly Martha Cearney, Anna Soubry, although not about as much as she used to be, and Shami Shakrabati, (really can't be bothered to check on the spelling of her name), arch hypocrite.

Has anyone mentioned Eamon Holmes and his annoying wife?
Also can't abide Elaine Paige or any reality programme.

Pollyanna2 Thu 27-Jun-19 16:48:28

That man who says 'Haven't you done anything yet...why?' (PPI!!!) He's so condescending!!

annodomini Thu 27-Jun-19 16:18:29

So-called 'reality' shows.

HannahLoisLuke Thu 27-Jun-19 16:16:25

Another vote for Elaine Pages laugh. Hate it. Hate her choice of music, hate musicals. Can't get to the radio fast enough to switch to radio 4 in plenty of time for GQT.

Eastenders theme tune, have never watched it.
Used to watch Corrie, not now.
And the horrible Keith Lemon. Seems like we all mostly agree.

kathyd Thu 27-Jun-19 16:14:31

Just me then....

jura2 Thu 27-Jun-19 15:59:51

Piers Morgan ...

bellarosie Thu 27-Jun-19 15:56:10

I am amazed that nobody so far as mentioned Naga Munchetty. I absolutely cannot abide her narcisstic personality and smugness. She absolutely loves herself, but I'm afraid I have to turn off morning BBC news when she is one of the presenters. I feel so sorry for her co-presenter whom ever that may be, especially Charlie.

GinJeannie Thu 27-Jun-19 15:52:52

Any soap opera or trailer for same......gave up watching said trash years ago!

Overthehills Thu 27-Jun-19 15:43:27

John Inverdale “commentating” on any sport.

Saggi Thu 27-Jun-19 14:41:27

Oh and on another point ...I loathe anything that’s got that ghastly Simon Cowell attached to it....and anything classed as reality programme....I get enough reality in my life thanks!

Saggi Thu 27-Jun-19 14:39:46

There you go nannyxthree....if I’ve hotta watch a repeat it’s got to be Foyles War..,.whoever thought that programme up was having a brilliant day....closely followed by Lewis ( with dishy Lawrence Fox)...and I can rewatch Touch of Frost as well. Sometimes repeats are good...you settle back and think oh yes I think I remember this episode them immediately nod off. Great!

Those bleep bleep meerkats! Outlived their novelty years ago.

GeorgyGirl Thu 27-Jun-19 14:00:36

Drives me insane when programmes have music playing almost constantly when I am trying to listen to what is being said, also fast camera-panning. All unnecessary.
Can't bear medical adverts and juvenile animated ones.
Dramas that are too violent and 'in your face', leaving nothing to the imagination. Bring back Doris Day ! : -)

Shizam Thu 27-Jun-19 13:48:37

Steve Wright on Radio 2.
Davina McCall,

DanniRae Thu 27-Jun-19 13:19:44

Why has no one mentioned "Benidorm"? I saw a few moments of it and hated it because it is utter tripe.
Mrs Brown's boys comes under the same category.
I also can't stand anything with Miriam Margoyles, Stephen Fry or Carol Vorderman in it.

Jayemwhite Thu 27-Jun-19 13:09:17

That awful tune that starts the One Show - the show is often interesting but I can’t watch it!
Eastenders.theme
& while we’re here, can anyone explain why we have to have single finger, often single notes music for any documentary programme, especially those which deal with factories or industrial scenes? Soooo unnecessary!! I hate background music in general, but this in particular.
