What makes you reach (or run!) for the Off button?

For my late father, it was The Archers theme music, which he referred to as the “dum- de-dums “
At the first notes he would do a Usain Bolt across the room to turn the radio off.
For me, I’m afraid it is The Listening Project.
Intrusive? Boring? I don’t know, I just can’t stand it.
(Just a Minute comes a close second!)

Football? Off switch!

Nannyme Thu 27-Jun-19 11:08:39

I hate football, why do they assume “everyone” want# to watch at prime time. All sport should have their own channel so “most” of us can watch our usual programmes. A bit off topic sorry!!

b1zzle Thu 27-Jun-19 11:08:38

And any horse racing!

Oldwoman70 Thu 27-Jun-19 10:59:43

Sheilasue I think you mean Jeremy Vine - I have to agree, it's not just his voice that annoys me - it is his "I am so much better than you" attitude, yet he sometimes asks the most inane, stupid questions that you wonder if he actually listens to what his guests are saying!

Quizzer Thu 27-Jun-19 10:55:24

BBC's Money for Nothing - over enthusiastic presenter turning rubbish from the council tip into - well let's be honest- expensive rubbish !

Nannymags27 Thu 27-Jun-19 10:51:11

The Wowcher ad! ?

jaylucy Thu 27-Jun-19 10:45:35

I try not to watch any of the adverts if I can help it! The bits that annoy me are the trailers for upcoming programmes that are repeated ad infinitum as well as the ad breaks.

Ngaio1 Thu 27-Jun-19 10:41:16

Anything in which Suranne Jones appears!

b1zzle Thu 27-Jun-19 10:39:05

Adverts!

Bunty Thu 27-Jun-19 10:38:33

And I thought I was the only one who couldn't stand EP's 'laugh'.
Mrs Brown's Boys - just don't get it at all!
Love The Archers theme - agree about East Enders and Corrie - both very depressing!

Rosina Thu 27-Jun-19 10:36:23

The 'One Show' opening 'music' and the false hysteria that follows it; Jonathan Ross, party political broadcasts. Otherwise I am quite tolerant!

keffie Thu 27-Jun-19 10:36:05

Any of the soaps and anything that comes on TV where Trump or Farage are concerned. I switch the tv straight over.

I can just about tolerate reading about what is happening which includes them. Listening to them. Not a chance. I would have no T.V

Sheilasue Thu 27-Jun-19 10:27:29

All of the above, plus and I have forgotten his name (having a senior moment ) the guy on bbc2 at 12 o’clock lunchtime.
He’s voice gets to me.

lovebeigecardigans1955 Thu 27-Jun-19 10:20:43

Gino D'campo - sorry if I've spelled that wrong. I think it's the cheeky chappy persona which I dislike.
Tena Lady ads, most ads in fact. I reach for the mute button.

sue01 Thu 27-Jun-19 10:20:27

Ant and Dec. Lorraine Kelly. Nish Kumar. Soaps. Reality TV.
The gruesome twosome Holly and Philip. Greg Wallace.... and agree with the verdict on Fiona Bruce on Question Time. The question I'd like to ask is why ????

Cambia Thu 27-Jun-19 10:13:59

Again Eastenders theme tune, just know misery and shouting will follow. Elaine Pages laugh drives me mad too.

harrigran Thu 27-Jun-19 10:08:34

Any advert has me reaching for the off button, inane twaddle.

sarahellenwhitney Thu 27-Jun-19 10:06:00

What makes ME go for the switch off button? How long have you got?
Seriously though it has to be that cringing ad where they 'av a cuppa tea' then dance in the streets.

curlilox Thu 27-Jun-19 10:00:06

Definitely the Eastenders tune. Now there is a hymn set to it. We had to sing it at my FIL's and MIL's funerals.

Aepgirl Thu 27-Jun-19 09:55:04

Laura Kuenssberg - rude and aggressive

MiniMoon Thu 27-Jun-19 09:29:16

I can't stand Eastenders or Coronation Street, any of the soaps really.
Jonathan "Woss".
Keith Lemon.
I'm very selective in my viewing, unlike my husband who puts the tv on and watches rubbish! He likes the shopping channels, I never put them on.

Blinko Thu 27-Jun-19 09:18:35

For me it's
Reality TV
All soaps
ITV, (except for Lewis and Long Lost Family)
Mrs Brown's Boys
Sport (why don't they get a sports channel?)
Shouty programmes late at night.

sodapop Thu 27-Jun-19 09:07:47

Has anyone seen the Onken ad with the cat and balloon? I thought it was funny and so true of cats.

DanniRae Thu 27-Jun-19 08:10:16

The Eastenders music - can't abide the programme. It's so dreary and miserable.
Any presenters who speak with a forced 'laugh' in their voice.
Anything with Lorraine Kelly - she's so bl**dy false and I don't believe a word anything she says.

FarNorth Wed 26-Jun-19 23:40:00

The more recent dog-shearing ad, about glaucoma, is much more alarming - as it's intended to be.
