Thoughts? I'm not sure I'm finding it that funny but to be honest anything with a vague note of humour is welcome at this point. Anyone else liking it?

We enjoyed it

Watched it today and I quite enjoyed it. Reminded me on Scarborough - slow start but then really got into it. I am a big fan of Barbara Flynn (Cracker and A Family at War).

We loved it. Simple humour.

I didn't like Fleabag either. Horrible character and all that swearing. Much prefer a gentle silly comedy like this. Think koji is great! Not so sure about Kate!

I too didn't like Fleabag.

But jacq10 I LOVED Family at War!! smile

I loved it, Brenda is a fantastic actress. This really did make me laugh out loud. I hope there is more episodes to come.

I like Kate & Koji - it has some really funny lines. I also liked Fleabag, though I do agree that the first series especially had more graphic sexual references that I felt comfortable with.

I like Barbara Flynn as well. I think I remember her in the Biederbeck Affair and was she in Duty Free ? Maybe you can prompt my memory jacq10

I really enjoyed Beiderbecke and bought the tapes.
Can’t watch them now of course but did so many times.
Will watch Kate and Koji , I hadn’t heard of it as I watch very little tv.
I get easily bored.

One word-dire and the canned laughter finished me off. I watched I think 3 episodes hoping it would improve.

trisher Mon 27-Apr-20 10:15:25

I watched a bit of it and really thought it couldn't decide what it wanted to be so became nothing. Classic '50s stereotypes like "Councillor Bone", but not quite because it really would be offensive and Brenda Blethyn trying in vain to hold things together. I won't manage more episodes.

Harris27 Mon 27-Apr-20 10:19:07

Think she is brilliant actor so watched it some redeeming features and liked her humour. Easy to watch but not a great fan.

Harris27 Mon 27-Apr-20 10:20:28

Ps. Loved the Beiderbecke affair why don’t their replay some of this excellent stuff during this sad time?

glammanana Mon 27-Apr-20 11:05:12

I have enjoyed it something light to watch away from the dire news on the TV at the present moment,BB is a superb actress but I will always think of her as "Vera".

Dottydots Mon 27-Apr-20 13:39:55

I couldn't see what everyone else was laughing at.

katie1 Mon 27-Apr-20 19:24:07

I watched it because I like Brenda Blethyn, but I can't understand why she would have wanted to do it. Brenda is such a good actress in dramas, Kate and Koji was silly I thought.

Willow500 Tue 28-Apr-20 07:33:55

We've loved this series and looked forward to it each week. I've always loved Vera but Brenda Blethyn was also in Outside Edge years ago which is being rerun on ITV 3 on a morning.

Calendargirl Tue 28-Apr-20 07:39:47

Barbara Flynn was in Family At War, Cracker, Midsomer Murders to name a few.

Versatile actress, does commentaries for certain documentaries also.

Lilypops Tue 28-Apr-20 07:59:44

It was Gwen Taylor in Duty Free , Another good actress always played a good Northern character,

sodapop Tue 28-Apr-20 08:58:47

Thanks Lilypops I'm easily confused

Whingingmom Tue 28-Apr-20 12:07:08

The trailer put me off - looked banal and contrived. Didn’t bother to watch.

jacq10 Tue 28-Apr-20 23:04:36

Sorry Sodapop meant to come back on and let you know I wasn't sure about Duty Free as hadn't watched it but pleased you got your answer from Lilypops. I too wish they would put The Beiderbecke Affair on Beiderbecke affair - fingers crossed.
