Would I lie to you

Perhaps women have a different sense of humour to some men which may not lend itself to the one-liners which appeal to you OP.
I can think of a few male comedians who aren't that funny.
Victoria Wood was great.
I think the late, great Joyce Grenfell said that she found it harder to be funny as she got older as she became kinder and perhaps less cutting. I loved her material, "George, don't do that." It was left to your imagination to think what he was doing - just a finger up his nose to prise a bogey out or something much worse.

I think that Victoria Wood is funnier than any male comic. She once wrote a sketch about her and Julie Walters in a shoe shop. She was a customer and Julie a really dotty shop assistant. My family and I have watched it many times and it still makes us laugh like mad. Some of the dialogue from it has passed into our family life.
As has already been said on here - it's a tragedy that she died so young

I do find it odd that women put other women down so readily. Maybe they need the chance to show that they can be just as funny (funnier) than their male counterparts?

I like those two, in small doses. I see Lee Mack has tested positive for Covid-19 then.

Sandi Toksvig and Aisling Bea are very funny. Susan Calman too.
There's no one like Victoria Wood sadly but I think women could easily head up these panel shows. Sandi effortlessly keeps control on QI and is often funnier than anyone else on the show.

Fatgran57 I know there are good comedians who are women I like Sarah Milligan. I don't think women could carry off this show for the reasons I have stated above

The film Funny Cow is based on Marti Caine. Very good.

Victoria Wood had a very appealing sense of humour. Such a wonderful talent lost too soon.

I think that German guy Henning is hilarious when he’s on it.

The Unbelievable Truth on Radio 4 Sounds catch up is another favourite of mine.

I think women can do comedy very well.

Live at the Apollo has had some very good women stand-up comediennes.

Are you talking about women like French and Saunders, Victoria Wood. Tracey Ullman, Catherine Tate type women or just a Would I Lie to You sort of programme?

Funny, I was just thinking about Marti Caine a few weeks back.
I think she was perhaps the first woman to do a proper 'stand up' comedy act. (I'm probably wrong, but she is the first I can remember)

Her death seemed to pass without much of the fuss and endless interviews a lot of people have today.

I love this programme. If I need cheering up I watch Mitchell's rants on you tube. Love the way Lee Mack ribs Mitchell as having no idea of how the other half live. They're both so sharp, few contestants can compete.

Have to admit I don't usually find women funny either

quizqueen says she doesn't think women can do comedy and as I read this I agreed with her.

Then Marti Caine came to mind. I can recall that she was very funny. A long time ago.

I don't think women can do comedy, to be honest. I can't think of one comedienne who makes me laugh. What do you know, we aren't equal in everything but the BBC has to have its PC quota of non funny women on panel shows.

They have some very funny ‘out takes ‘ on YouTube, especially the ones with Rob Bryson doing impersonations, cracks us up.

I love it - we really need a good laugh now!

One of my favourite tv programmes. I keep the ones on Dave recorded, and usually watch one for the last half an hour prior to going to bed. They cheer me up so much.

I enjoy seeing the other contestants, who are not quite so quick-witted, frequently helpless with laughter, and I think it is genuine.

Mr R and I really love this show. Even if we have seen it before we are quite happy to watch the episode again

They absolutely make the show, those two.

They're both so funny, but in such different ways.
