Your Favourite Film...just to lighten the mood

I have found it hard to choose my favourite film...if I could only ever see one more.

Incredibly, on the short list would be a few which have been on various channels, recently.

'The Scarlet Claw' with the gorgeous Basil Rathbone as Sherlock Holmes, 'A Man for All Seasons', 'The Quiet Man' and 'Whisky Galore' (the original)

My ultimate however, is 'Local Hero'. I have even visited Pennan in the north of Scotland to see the iconic red phone box, now a listed building.

What's your most loved film?

Ben Hur. I saw it first when I was about 14. A very impressionable age, and have seen it, and loved it more times than I can say

The Troops of St. Tropez, it's an old French comedy, I love it.

If I could only have one I think it would be 'Conversations with my Gardener' with (my favourite) Daniel Auteuil and Jean-Pierre Darroussin. Almost anything with Daniel Auteuil in it suits me.

Other films I've loved: 'The Sting' - so beautifully designed and acted.
Pretty much anything by Taika Waititi, who began with an 11 minutes experimental film, 'Two Cars, One Night' which rocketed him to the top and won awards. It's on You Tube.

'Boy' written and directed by Taika Waititi.
'Hunt for the Wilderpeople' -written and directed by Taika Waititi
'Mahana' starring me ole mate Temuera Morrison and many more talented actors.

It's a toss up between Pulp Fiction and Fargo.

Funny and gruesome is my genre.

The Great Gatsby, a story of love and tragedy.
Some excellent writing and beautiful quotes.

“ He looked at her the way every woman wants to be looked at by a man”

“I love her and that’s the beginning and end of everything”

Just beautiful.

NotAGran55 so glad put enjoyed it! I love it, I think I like it so much because I work with young people. Sidney Poitier was the Idris Elba of his day at a time when racism was rife.

Oh and August, Osage County. It's a play turned into a film and it shows, but the story is great and the acting is amazing.
Meryl Streep and Julia Roberts among others.

Twelve Angry Men. I saw that when I was about 12 and was fascinated by it

The Angry Silence. Similar age when I saw that. I was shocked by how John Mills was treated.

Rabbit-Proof Fence

Also a fan of One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest

James Dean's 3 films. Rebel Without a Cause. East of Eden and Giant

So many to choose from!

Oh and I loved Convoy when I watched it as a teenager
