Which soap character is most like you and why?

Lollin Mon 27-Apr-20 20:57:40

You first grin
I'm thinking

Jane10 Mon 27-Apr-20 21:13:30

I'm worrying about when they'll run out of Corrie and Eastenders episodes. Already Holby is gone for the foreseeable future.
I've always seen myself as Blanche Hunt.

Karen in Eastenders. Bit unpolished but a good heart. Open and uncomplicated (or as uncomplicated as you can be when the plots are so outlandish).

Alima Tue 28-Apr-20 10:23:29

Shirl in ‘Enders. What a girl.

Nannytrace Tue 28-Apr-20 10:24:59

There have been some great characters over the years. Mavis in Corrie, Dirty Den and Angie in Eastenders. Albert Tatlock and Ena Sharples. Gosh, hasn’t the image of older female characters changed since those days.

I would like to be Tracy in Coronation Street even though in real life I am about as far from her personality as is it possible to be . I know she can be heartless and got away with murder but I like how she says what she thinks and to hell with it . grin

I loved last night when she said something on the lines of “how did I get to be so beautiful” grin

Blanche Hunt for me as well Jane10 she had some wonderful come backs.

Can't believe they killed off Xavier in Holby, totally unexpected, waiting for Cam to get his come uppance now. Is it me or has Casualty lost its way a bit and seems quite disjointed at times.

Jane10 Tue 28-Apr-20 13:25:01

I agree. I never thought Cam was a particularly evil person.

Maybellex Tue 28-Apr-20 13:28:44

Thought the thread meant soap as in hand wash! Shows where my focus is I love the smell of bars of soap.
I also can’t believe they killed off Xavier perhaps they do a Bobby Ewing in the shower and he reappears. Agree holly has lost its way, not many soaps I watch now.

Jane10 Tue 28-Apr-20 13:32:05

I am transfixed by Holby. (I know it's awful but I like it. Shades of Dick Emery there)
My main complaint is that all staff can always find a free parking space right at the front. Have the producers never actually visited a real hospital!?

Nannarose Tue 28-Apr-20 13:34:03

Pat Archer, meaning well, but sometimes not quite getting it.

Calendargirl Tue 28-Apr-20 13:48:24

Can’t think I’m like any of them really, mind you, I only watch Corrie.
Definitely not like Yasmeen! And DH definitely nothing like awful Geoff thank goodness!

BlueBelle Tue 28-Apr-20 14:02:39

Whose Blanch Hunt?
I only really watch Corrie holby and casualty Yes I think holby has lost its way Cam was a nice lad suddenly become the villain and it doesn’t work
Can’t think who I connect with in any of them really

Maggiemaybe Tue 28-Apr-20 14:33:49

Oh, Blanche was wonderful, BlueBelle! She was Deirdre’s mum and got all the best lines. A few of her classic scenes are on YouTube. The way she ripped into everyone at the Barlow family Al-Anon session, and the one where she lambasted Postman Pat are two I remember.

Maggiemaybe Tue 28-Apr-20 14:35:28

I’d like to be Corrie’s Tracey too, but I’m afraid I’m more Eileen.

Jane10 Tue 28-Apr-20 14:38:47

Eileen's great. I'd like to be pals with her and Liz and have drinks in the Rovers.

glammanana Tue 28-Apr-20 14:50:05

Jane10 A night on the town in Liverpool would be amazing with Eileen & Liz.

gillybob Tue 28-Apr-20 15:41:28

Oh me too Jane10 they seem like the best fun . I love the relationship between Eileen and daft Steve .

Did anyone watch the harrowing episode last night with Yasmeen and Geoff ? I wanted to scream at the telly “ for gods sake Yasmeen wake up woman, he’s been sleeping with prostitutes “ !!

I know it’s not real wink

rosenoir Tue 28-Apr-20 15:57:21

My favourite character is Mary from Corrie,I would like to be like her but am more Dot Cotton from Eastenders.

gillybob Tue 28-Apr-20 16:01:29

Mary is a great character but I think I would find her over enthusiasm a bit irritating after a while rosenoir I love it when she talks about “mother” .

Maggiemaybe Tue 28-Apr-20 17:24:01

Blanche's views on Postman Pat...
"Early in the morning, when the day is dawning...' Your real Postman Pat rolls up about noon wearing a pair of shorts and his breakfast. And if he's not chucking elastic bands like confetti, he'll be rifling through your birthday cards for ready cash, or leaving your valuables out on the step. And as for Mrs Goggins, she'd be cowering behind three-inch glass with a baseball bat under the counter... assuming that her post office hasn't been shut down, of course."

On Gail: "She loves a drama, that Gail. Loves a drama. Never happy unless she's got someone's hands round her throat."

On going to a funeral: "How do I look? Cos it's a fine line between Roy Orbison and Jackie Onassis."

... to Deirdre:
Good looks are a curse, Deirdre. You and Kenneth should count yourselves lucky.

... on Liz McDonald:
Skirt no bigger than a belt, too much eyeliner, and roots as dark as her soul.

Jane10 Tue 28-Apr-20 18:07:53

What a character! The writers really let rip with her.

sodapop Tue 28-Apr-20 21:32:57

Love it Maggiemaybe what a character.
