I found Lara’s thread very useful and it was very popular so, as Lara hasn’t started a new thread I have.

Any suggestions on what to watch tonight gransnetters?

I've been watching The Bridge. It is a very convoluted and unrealistic plot but I am quite enjoying it.

I hope it doesn't turn out as disappointing as The Last Wave. I don't know why I wasted my time watching it when each episode was more ridiculous than the previous one.

I wish Spiral would return - in my opinion, it's miles ahead of any of the other police procedural/detective series - great acting and believable plots - what a novelty!

We watched Our Yorkshire Farm. Wouldn't miss it.

No matter what life throws at them they are always the close, loving, hard working family that makes this such a heartwarming programme to watch.

We tried GrandmasueUK’s recommendation and started Good Girls on Netflix tonight. Like Breaking Bad and very entertaining. Thanks for the suggestion.

Very sad tonight, Midsomer Murders! ?

Marmight Tue 18-Aug-20 20:55:03

I’m watching The Yorkshire Vet. It’s all a bit gory - lots of bodily fluids flowing grin

As before on BBCiplayer I like wildlife and nature programmes .
I'm going to watch one of their wonderful Wildlife in Thailand series.

Eldest son and family have just moved from after 15 years in Kuwait to Thailand . Much lower salaries. We're trying to puzzling it out. But TG they're keeping the family together .
It's hard to keep up with the world these days.

Having only caught The Bridge half way through, we watched the first 2 episodes last night. The next 2 possibly this evening. I just love Saga Noren .

Rudyard Kipling’s Mandalay was removed from commemorations of the 75th anniversary of VJ Day after the opera singer Sir Willard White, who was born in Jamaica, complained of its “cultural superiority”.

I understand that but why did the musical version of Mandalay have to be replaced by 'You'll Never Walk Alone' which is from an American musical and has now been adopted as a football anthem? hmm

Jane Eyre at 1.50 this afternoon ( film ) then BBC 1 all the way.

I enjoyed the VJ programme last night and wondered how Sheridan Smith was going to get through her song as she was emotional after those "old soldiers" had given their accounts.

Bellanonna, Sir Willard White, a bass-baritone.
Yes, he has a wonderful voice, we should see and hear more of him on television, although he has had an illustrious career in opera around the world.

I loved that film Marmight. I saw it at the cinema last year.

‘Yesterday’ a new film with Himesh Patel, Lily James an Ed Sheeran among others. Sounds a bit weird but good wet Saturday night entertainment!
Jack Malik is a struggling singer-songwriter in an English seaside town whose dreams of fame are rapidly fading, despite the fierce devotion and support of his childhood best friend, Ellie. After a freak bus accident during a mysterious global blackout, Jack wakes up to discover that The Beatles have never existed. Performing songs by the greatest band in history to a world that has never heard them, Jack becomes on overnight sensation with a little help from his agent

I enjoyed that too Callistemon. Great music. I loved the base singer at the end. What a voice!

Dark on Netflix, it's very good but I struggle with things that are dubbed as my hearing isn't great and that wasn't picked up on as a child so I have a habit of watching people's mouths when they talk so it's very noticeable to me.

VJ Day 75: The Nation's Tribute.

Watching Bruderhof now. I couldn't understand why it was pulled last year.

Pantglas2 Thu 13-Aug-20 07:44:18

Bruderhof programme is on BBC1 late tonight - it was postponed for some reason so maybe record or catch up?

Puzzler61 Wed 12-Aug-20 19:16:32

It is an incredible piece of television Grandmasue, enjoy it. ?

GrandmasueUK Wed 12-Aug-20 19:08:49

Just watching 'Marvellous' again with Toby Jones about Neil Baldwin. It's just brilliant. Heart warming and tear jerking in equal quantities!

GagaJo Tue 11-Aug-20 23:03:47

Rewatching Scott & Bailey. I saw 3 series of it but there are 5. LOVE strong female character series.
