I found Lara’s thread very useful and it was very popular so, as Lara hasn’t started a new thread I have.

Gwyneth Sun 30-Aug-20 22:32:57

Also watched ‘Strike’ which I enjoyed. Lots of people have, or are watching Montalbano and I really love it. Does anyone know if there will be a new series. Great thread ..... lots of suggestions on what to watch next!

Ladyleftfieldlover Sun 30-Aug-20 22:26:25

I watched the first episode of ‘Strike’ on BBC1 and enjoyed it.

Thanks Marmight smile. Yes some films are good to watch more than once, you know it but still entertains. Our boys always loved watching Crocodile Dundee over and over, we knew all the punch lines.

I will have to try Cinderella now.

Thank you Marmight I also watched and really enjoyed Finding Your Feet after your recommendation.
Last night I watched Schitt’s Creek on Netflix, a Canadian comedy recommended by a friend. I watched 3 episodes and found it very funny. A super rich family who suddenly find themselves bankrupt and stripped of all their assets. All they had left was a run down grubby little town in the back of beyond they bought years ago as a joke because of the name. They go to live there. It gave me a good laugh and I’m going to watch more tonight.

That was me Seacliff! I think I may watch it again. I was down in the dumps and it certainly lifted my spirits - a bit like Cinderella yesterday ?

Calendargirl Sun 30-Aug-20 12:52:10

Strike on at 9pm.

Great.

Pantglas2 Sun 30-Aug-20 12:38:20

I’ve started Bloodlines on Netflix and it’s intriguing after three episodes.....

Thanks whoever recommended Finding Your Feet. Loved it, a feel good film, and not too long.

I want more like that please.

I’ve just been watching Cinderella with the lovely Richard Madden (& Lily James) blush

The Prom last night was wonderful. The Eroica is my favourite symphony and I'd watch it all over again. Tonight I think I'll continue binge-watching New Amsterdam on Prime.

I have been watching the police dogs on some obscure channel, I enjoyed it, will watch again

I shall be watching a recording of 'Our Yorkshire Farm'. What a refreshing change to see the Owen family tackling the numerous jobs there are to do on their farm. Everyone pitches in, even the pre-schoolers. All 11 of them have a real love of family and I have yet to see any of the children with a mobile phone glued to their hand.

merlotgran Sat 29-Aug-20 16:13:24

I've just watched the first two episodes of A Suitable Boy again. So much easier to understand the second time round.

Still needed the family tree though. grin

Eloethan I watched this series at the beginning of the month on catch up, i agree it is a real eye opener. More people should take a look.

I watched the first two episodes of the documentary Once upon a time in Iraq. What a gut-wrenching, heartbreaking, anger-inducing insight into the invasion of Iraq and its aftermath. I consider it a crime and yet nobody has been held responsible for the social and material destruction of a whole country, leaving its people far worse off now, in almost every respect, than before they were "liberated".

It’s just finished...still wonderful though.?

Yes it was wonderful. Very relaxing.

Gardener's World now.

seacliff Fri 28-Aug-20 21:41:29

It certainly was strange. I like the way they all clapped themselves at the end. it did need applause.

lemongrove Fri 28-Aug-20 21:31:53

The first night of the proms....so strange seeing them perform
In an empty Albert Hall.

Marmight Fri 28-Aug-20 21:18:48

They all looked so similar. Jane10. Careworn with little apparent joy in their lives. Also many Americans. I felt a bit uncomfortable about it all. They own no ‘devices’ but strangely they have a website.
Anyway now cheering myself up with the Proms. Although It’s very odd without an audience. sad

Jane10 Fri 28-Aug-20 20:50:27

I watched that too Marmight. I was very struck by how old and worn the women looked.

Marmight Fri 28-Aug-20 20:09:01

I’ve just been watching a programme about the Bruderhof Community in East Sussex. Not sure what I think or feel about them but interesting viewing hmm

Jane10 Fri 28-Aug-20 13:48:12

I enjoyed 'Harlots' once I got over the shock of it all. The second series is starting next week. I've set the recorder!
Also the lovely 'Gone Fishing' prog with Bob Mortimer and Paul Whitehouse. Thoroughly enjoyable somehow. Just two old friends chatting and fishing.

WOODMOUSE49 Fri 28-Aug-20 13:27:56

Last two of Mrs America tonight.

Thank you to whoever recommended Film4 'Finding your feet'. Brilliant.

Finished watching 'One Day' last night. Good film. Read the book ages ago and loved it.

Love Line of Duty. Watched the originals and rewatched them all again a month ago. They're about to record the next series. Yippee. Some memorable quotes. grin
