I enjoy keeping up with all the news stories from Britain. Its kind of like guiltily peeking at a road crash.

I suppose we in the UK watch with horrified fascination at news from France too.

Our local BBC weather reporter stands on the roof of the building in most weathers.
DH thinks he stands there so he can tell us what's arriving in the next half hour or so. That's why the Met Office is in Exeter as the prevailing weather comes from the SW so they can stand outside and watch.

To be honest, Specki4eyes, French TV Méteo is the only good bit. Most of the programmes in France are British dubbed ones and the adverts are abysmal.
I will say the lady weather presenters are very smartly dressed in France, usually in suits.

I just ask Alexa what the weather us likely to be locally. She's very accurate. Come to think of it I ask her most things I don't know. How sad am I?

I agree and I also get highly irritated when they tell us what the weather was like this time last week/year!! And when they tell us to "take a brolly/cardigan/ sunhat" Like we are imbeciles!

I would not like the weather forecasts to cease, yet they are often wrong, but they are part if being British, like tea, pubs, Big Ben etc. I especially like the shipping forecast, of no relevance to me of course, yet I like it, almost like poetry to my ears. If we couldn’t talk bout the weatherWhAt would we put in its place!

Hate BBC with a passion! Have radio on all day & a lot of the evening. So I am sad & boring but probably happier than those obsessing over the latest weather forecast if as they say it is always wrong. Each to their own though ?

Thank you Urmstongran for pointing out Blossoming's lack of attention to detail. Perhaps shes busy watching weather forecasts?. As the dear, late lamented Sir Terry used to say, "are we living in a parallel universe".

Thanks ? for the laugh ladies ! I shall now ask the cat for the weather forecast and look online for a photo of Tomas Schaffenacker’s hair ( no TV ). As for the weather well it’s gone bonkers, so much so it’s affected those running the country obviously ?.

DH rolls his eyes every time I say, 'Oooh look. It's Tomas Schaffenacker. Do you think he has a Cracker Tracker mortgage?'

here in Denmark the local radio stations have a weather forecast at the end of each half-hourly news broadcast.

They are seldom if ever accurate, so I too feel that we could dispense with them.

I discuss the weather every morning with the cat, if he isn't interested in going out, I know to expect rain or high winds.

Well, I dare not talk about weather forecasts without input for my DH, who was a professional, so I am passing this over to him!!
There are several commercial companies as well as 'The Met Office' these days producing and selling forecasts so there are bound to be variabilities due to different computer outputs and the interpretation of these, compounded by the usual proximity of the controlling and meandering circumpolar jet stream which we are at the mercy of.

Now you know!!

I assume you are watching the morning news programmes?
I haven't noticed lots of forecasts throughout the day; I only have Freeview so can't comment on satellite providers programming.
I live in the north of Scotland, have friends and family in Hampshire and my lovely new man lives in north Wales so I like to see what the regional variatons are and as our weather is so variable, it is good to be able to see when the next shower will hit.
Also, the variations in temperature etc.
Yes, I do use a weather app if I am planning a trip etc.

According to the 4 day forecast on the back page of the Telegraph, we don't have any weather at all!

It's in the form of a map with symbols on, and there is never a symbol on Devon and Cornwall

Though if you want accurate forecasting at a local level, try the WeatherPro app. The premium version costs 75p a month and has an animated radar forecast for rain up to 2 hours ahead, so you can see just when it's going to rain where you are - so I can see today that I'm not going to get my walk until this afternoon...
