I cancelled netflix

youtube is surprisingly good for things to watch. I watched a couple of Delia Smith today, it certainly brought back memories. I also have amazon prime and there is iplayer. I do understand why people like netflix, it just isn`t for me. I got sucked into amazon music a while ago and realised that I wasn`t using it, I cancelled that and all in all have saved £14 a month. I am doing an online newspaper too, I have already blocked the paypal system when money is taken out on a continuous rolling basis. I paid for a year up front.

It all sneakily adds up

I'm not that keen on Netflix. There seem to be so many never ending "box sets" that I eventually become bored with.

I think there is plenty of stuff on the various BBC channels and Catch Up. I have been enjoying The Bridge and I also liked Mrs America and A Suitable Boy. I was disappointed by The Last Wave though.

Some good films too.

We miss going to the cinema to see mainly art house films, so joined Netflix 3 months ago and have watched one film Two Popes, gave up on another two, and not interested in TV series or the Royals, so can’t find anything else. We were hoping for more quality international films, so are disappointed. Any suggestions?

The Durrells is on Netflix too. I saw it all first time round but an really enjoying a nightly burst of sunshine and silliness from this programme.

Don't have either Netflix or Amazon, but then we don't watch much TV. Lunchtime news then not again till 6pm till about 10 pm, bit more in the winter maybe! Freeview is ample for us plus the odd CD!

That explains it Dinahmo I didn't realise we had less choice than UK. What a twit I am.

Young Wallender is good but I think the story must continue into series 2 which Isn't ready yet.
The Bureau on Prime is very good but they expect you to pay for series 2 and then subscribe for series 3 although we are already paying for Prime,

I barely watch “normal” TV anymore and would be lost without Netflix. Ozark, Fargo, Black Mirror, Mad Men, American Horror Story..... the list is endless. I will however be giving H & M a very wide berth.

Didn’t know about Young Wallander, so thanks for mentioning that Jane10. I loved the Wallander series (with Kenneth Branagh - didn’t realise there was an ‘original’ version!)
Currently addicted to This Is Us on Amazon Prime after it was mentioned on another thread. There is so much to enjoy on Netflix and Prime, but sometimes I’m almost afraid to browse them because there’s just too much that interests me and I’d never get anything else done

We have had Amazon Prime for a few years and started subscribing to Netflix at the start of lockdown. I've just finished watching The Crown, we both enjoyed Designated Survivor and we have watched loads of films, some good, some not so good.
My DH won't have Sky because of Murdoch and the cost of it is astronomical in my opinion.
I think we may try Young Wallander next.

In response to questions about Young Wallander - it took me a while to get into it, and also to get used to the main actor, who has a strange whispering voice. The writers have done something a bit odd in that it is Wallander as a young 'rookie' policeman, but it is set in contemporary times, so that threw us at first. But I would say stick with it, it gets more interesting as the storyline progresses.

I gave Kenneth Branagh as Wallander a try, but I preferred the original version.

Blinko I got Britbox to watch Upstairs Downstairs, then watched The Durrells and lots of David Attenborough. I think it’s well worth the £5.99 a month. I can also use family SkyGo and Netflix, but find I use Britbox most.

In France we don't get the range on Netflix that is available in the UK but there is still a lot of choice. The BBC also has masses of stuff on I-Player, some of it on for a year. I have to use a VPN to watch it and wouldn't mind paying but that's not possible. We're not supposed to watch BBC here - I think it's to do with the range of other countries tv signals.

BBC radio also has masses of stuff to download at the moment, including several of the classics and I don't need a VPN for that.

Has anyone any knowledge of Britbox? How does it compare with Netflix? Advice welcome...

I’ve got sky and just got Netflix (hope I’m not brain dead!) the grandchildren love Netflix kiddies programs So at the moment undecided which one to keep, but thanks for all the advice I think?

We have just started on Young Wallander and we are enjoying it. Very much “Scandi noir” so you either like it or hate it.

There is so much to choose from I cannot imagine anyone not being able to find a worthwhile programme/series to watch.

For Netflix users I’ll just mention again Australian series “offspring”. I’ve watched it all through twice....

I agree, Netflix and Prime have been a godsend during lockdown. A great variety of programmes, documentaries, series we missed first time round and films.

We have just finished watching Young Wallander and enjoyed it. Different strokes I suppose. What I would not recommend watching is The Nightingale, a film we started watching but couldn’t stomach the brutality and violence. One particular scene is still something I wish I hadn’t witnessed.

I like Netflix too. I binge watched Line of Duty recently. Amazon Prime is good too. I would ditch Sky but the OH likes the sport channels.

I like Netflix. Can usually find something to watch and have seen some good series. Young Wallander was terribly boring I’m afraid. I was looking forward to it as I love Endeavour, but YW was very poor in comparison.

Netflix has been a bit of a godsend during lockdown. We've watched more tv in the evenings than usual because we haven't been going out.
Some excellent programmes, some good stuff I missed the first time around and movies.

I like Netflix and think it is very good value for money. I cancelled Sky about 2 years ago as I loathe the Murdoch empire and their press empire, they are not getting any money from me. As to whether Harry and Meghan are employed by Netflix, I care not a jot. I had no choice in funding them when they were part of the Royal Family either.
