I joined netflix to watch the queen and kept it through lockdown but I decided enough was enough, there has been nothing I wanted to watch on netflix for weeks. M and H signing up was the last straw, I have cancelled. It will most definitely not be missed

Nightsky2 You are wrong I am signed in with my daughters account and she lives 96 miles away!

I had hoped Young Wallendar who be similar to Endevour i.e. set back in the 60's or 70's but no it was life now violence killing racism etc etc l wanted a bit of escapism.

We have already paid the BBC for lots of Britbox programmes, I think it's a cheek to charge us again.

Nightsky2

Clairefontaine. you can only do this if you live in the same house and not if your son or daughter lives somewhere else!.

I share one with my daughter and GD. Netflix currently allows each account to include up to five individual profiles so long as you all log on the same way !

We live 300 miles apart.

I’m another one with daughter on our Netflix account living a few miles away. We mostly watch Now TV in a addition to main channels.

I was very disappointed with Young Wallander and shan’t watch again. It bore no relation at all to the Swedish version with Krister Henriksson which I throughly enjoyed. Only thing in common was surname.

Just watched the first two episodes of Young Wallender, thank you gransnetters for recommending it.

I have Netflix as I dont watch the soaps. There are some good films on. On the left of the screen theres a search engine, so you can look up things by actor, etc, or at the bottom there's a search bar by tv, film, most popular and so on. I wont be watching anything produced by Harry & 'Me-again" as I haven't time for them.

I have no interest in paying for extra TV viewing, so would not even consider Netflix or any other platform.

I cancelled Sky about 6 years ago and have never missed it at all. I float between NowTV, Netflix and Amazon. As there are no contracts I can save money by choosing which is of interest to me that month. Cancelling NowTV within the week prior to the pass ending often results in a reduced payment offer too!
My family have followed my example and none of us have Sky or Virgin now. I never have any problems finding things to watch. I am very anti Royal but M &H signing up doesn't affect my viewing so why on earth would it be a reason to cancel Netflix? They have a right to watch whatever they eant as do I.

Just remembered I loved Call my agent.
It’s in French with subtitles,

Young Wallender is OK but what I'd really like to see would be 'Young Vera'!

brandonspence Thu 10-Sept-20 07:19:49

Sad you felt so. I like Netflix and I love watching it.

Eloethan Thu 10-Sept-20 23:28:05

Young Vera is a great idea. Endeavour was really good until it got a bit silly.

A little off topic, but in line with my reasons for canceling Amazon Prime:

AmazonBasics products are going up in flames, but not enough for Amazon to stop selling them, CNN found reviews for more than 70 products describing safety risks-

I was so disappointed with Young Wallender being set in the present - it negated the whole concept of showing a character’s early professional life and influences upon his development into the older person we got to know. If YW had just been a modern day Scandi noir series about a present day young policemen, that would have been fine but it just felt silly.

Jane10 Sat 12-Sept-20 14:04:21

Yes it was disappointing in that respect. I always enjoyed seeing the Swedish countryside in the original Wallander and missed that this time. Also, I know I shouldn't say it but it felt like a lot of shoehorning different ethnicities into the Swedish police force. The young black gang at the Rosegarten could be anywhere. Just didn't feel like Sweden.

Just started to watch The Duchess with Katherine Ryan a sort of darker Motherland - looks promising.

merlotgran Sat 12-Sept-20 15:53:45

We'll be watching Last Night of the Proms tonight especially as Nicola Benedetti is playing again.

NanKate Sat 12-Sept-20 15:58:25

My DH rarely watches tv, other than antiques programmes so I have total control of Netflix, Amazon Prime, TennisTV and Eurosport, what’s not to like. ??

Dinahmo Sat 12-Sept-20 19:47:36

Has anyone seen "Unorthodox"? It's based on a memoir by Deborah Feldman and is about a young orthodox Jewish woman who flees New York where her life is strictly controlled, for Germany. It's very good although you will need to switch on subtitles because a lot of it is in Yiddish.

kircubbin2000 Sat 12-Sept-20 20:49:48

There seems to be a petition to cancel Netflix because of a film called Cuties. Has anyone seen it yet?

Iam64 Sat 12-Sept-20 20:53:40

I watched Unorthodox, and heard Deborah Feldman interviewed on Woman's Hour. What an amazing life story.

suziewoozie Sat 12-Sept-20 22:07:26

I thought Unorthodox was stunning

I feel humble in the company of so many people who spend their time cooking everything from scratch, never have takeaways, only watch uplifting and educational TV programmes grin

The best film currently on Netflix is My Octopus Teacher.

It blew my mind. It is way more than just a documentary.
