Did anyone watch it last night? BBC1 9pm....I quite enjoyed it.....mainly because I really like Alison Steadman

"Why were AS and dh living in a flat and not a naice detached house?"

AS and husband own the whole house, but live in one of the flats. AS was described as "the landlady" by one of the residents.

Missed that sparklefizz - thank you.

suziewoozie Thu 01-Oct-20 13:18:30

Thank you Sparkle I missed that too

Atqui Thu 01-Oct-20 14:21:39

I enjoyed it . I didn’t see the bit about AS and husband owning the whole house .I thought perhaps they had downsized. I think the AS situation will resonate with a lot of women.,The review in the Times put it well... she’s been gently suffocated during the course of her marriage.

Some you like..some you dont...I just found it 'easy watching '....?

Lisagran Thu 01-Oct-20 17:24:31

It has a very tidy ending for (almost) everyone - no spoilers grin

All will be revealed in the ensuing episodes - I have watched it all, and really enjoyed it. Not wholly believable in places (which drama series are?), but worth watching for the excellent acting.

annsixty Thu 01-Oct-20 17:33:59

Had most of today in bed as I was in lots of pain this morning so I have binge watched the whole of Series one.
So many things so improbable, time warp in some situations but I enjoyed it.
Nothing to stress over and once it’s gone it’s gone, no need to think about it.

Luckygirl Thu 01-Oct-20 17:38:46

Sorry you are in pain annsixty - I hope that a warm morning in bed has helped. flowers

annsixty Thu 01-Oct-20 17:49:36

Yes it has thank you Luckygirl
If all goes according to plan, I should be having my hip replacement a week tomorrow.
I have my fingers firmly crossed.

Lisagran Thu 01-Oct-20 18:02:48

Good luck re the hip, annsixty. Interesting you say Series one - is there definitely going to be more?

annsixty Thu 01-Oct-20 18:16:54

That is me hoping Lisagran

Sarnia Thu 01-Oct-20 18:30:45

Apologies for digressing but 2 good dramas on at the moment are 'Honour' and 'Us'. Both very different but well worth watching.

Lisagran Thu 01-Oct-20 21:00:44

There’s a thread all about “Us”, Sarnia. I personally couldn’t get on with it.....

BlueBelle Thu 01-Oct-20 21:14:32

I loved US I couldn’t stop watching it so did a binge watch Honour was really good and very well done
I ve now started Life and so far enjoy it I get lost in the characters and don’t always see the inaccuracies I did wonder why they were in a flat I didn’t get the bit about them owning it I agree there are a lot of incredible coincidences how did Andy get outside and how did she know who he was that was a bit weird I must admit, and the girl turning up in class but it didn’t really bother me too much it’s a story not tue life, and seems really watchable

ginny Thu 01-Oct-20 21:21:08

I have just watched the first episode.
I enjoyed it and look forward to the rest. Maybe a little far fetched and inconsistent but that’s what drama is for.

Fuchsiarose Fri 02-Oct-20 00:36:05

Was alison steadman the main character in Abigails Party. Around the 70s

Lucca Fri 02-Oct-20 06:55:31

Didn’t sleep well so finished watching it, last episode was dire. So cheesy I could hardly bear to watch !

Lisagran Fri 02-Oct-20 07:09:28

It left plenty of options open for further spin offs, though, Lucca?

Lucca Fri 02-Oct-20 07:27:03

I fear so.

Yes, ‘Beverley’ wasn’t it?

Lucca Fri 02-Oct-20 07:43:53

That was so good,( abigails party I mean. )

Totally agree.
I wanted to see what happened with the characters so watched to the end but thought it got really silly.

Jane43 Fri 02-Oct-20 10:31:05

One of the characters, Belle, was apparently in Doctor Foster but I just can’t remember her and it has distracted me trying to recall her and how she fitted into the story.
