Covid means I'm not going out much and I'm wondering if I should get Netflix?
Advice very welcome.

My DS has us attached to his Netflix account and I am also on his Amazon Prime account so I am not actually paying for either.

However, I have to say that Netflix is amazing. The drama is like the BBC used ot be for quality but without the irritating PC and wokey-cokey influence which makes so may Beeb programme unwatchable these days.

We have Netflix and Amazon Prime. OH recently swapped us from Virgin media to btinternet and it’s dire, though he won’t admit it. Very limited as to how many programmes you can record and odd things like having to go right to the end of programmes before you can cancel.

First world problems but tedious. Keep getting messages flashing up saying we can’t do this or that. Not very relaxing and it seems it’s 18 months not 12 months.

Partly to do with our hope of moving to a ground floor flat and blocks of flats can limit choices or so I’m told.

I tend to read as I half watch tv though. Not much on terrestrial tv now except repeats, repeats and more repeats.

For us, just recently got it though my daughter had it upstairs for along time. For me just watching Prison Break has made it worth getting lol

Yes!! fantastic documentaries, good films and excellent series and lots of choice. There is a 3 part docu-series called "Don't with Cats" which had me on the edge on my chair - a must to be seen!

Thanks to the two ladies who explained the charges to me x

YES, OH YES! I would be lost without it.
So much choice and it keeps a record of where you are up to and you do not open an episode only to find you have seen it. It is clear if you have watched etc....

My son has a subscription to Netflicks which allow you to have it on 5 devices. Our TV is one of them. It is a godsend in corona virus times. I have just finished watching the 3 series of Call My Agent - a French serial about the lives and jobs of people working at a talent agency.
www.netflix.com/gb/title/80133335
Great fun and very French!
I am going to watch some Tom Hanks films next. And then the next series of the Crown is due back with Princess Diana etc.

With so many different categories, there is something for everyone to watch on Netflix.
I think it’s very good value for £5.99 per month.

Fauda is a brilliant Netflix original drama made by both Israelis and Palestinians. Made me understand the situation there much better and edge of the seat exciting

I loved Call my agent!
Have you watched two Aussie ones..Offspring and Rake ? Really good.

I was going to ‘invest’ in Netflix this year instead of paying my TV licence but the BBC has scuppered this - is that its way of making me watch their rubbish programmes.

FannyCornforth Mon 05-Oct-20 15:35:37

Missfoodlove

For the Crown alone the subscription is worth every penny.
It is the best series I have ever seen.
I would not hesitate.

Came on to say this.
Even if you just watch all the series of The Crown and then cancel your subscription. (Is there a minimum monthly limit?)
I envy you!

Glenfinnan Mon 05-Oct-20 16:47:14

Yes! Some of the best programmes on Netflix

Tweedle24 Mon 05-Oct-20 16:57:25

I love it, particularly since Covid. I usually watch the films but, have watched some of the tv series and enjoyed them. I can’t wait for the next series of The Crown

We have Netflix and Amazon Prime and would recommend them both. So much rubbish on BBC and the other channels. So annoying that you have to pay the BBC not to watch their programmes.

Oh I'm so pleased you enjoyed it!

And yes, I never dreamt I'd be crying over an octopus!

Greeneyedgirl Mon 05-Oct-20 18:47:34

Thanks Oopsminty for the Octopus recommendation. Will have another look, but think I will be getting through a lot of books this winter.

Do you have family / friend who have it? We are on DD contract, works very well and good programs

jerseygirl Mon 05-Oct-20 19:31:41

We love it. We got it just before lockdown and haven't regretted it. A great price and you can always find something to watch. Give it a go. The free trial is a good idea.

Scrapgranny Mon 05-Oct-20 19:35:39

If you have sky they offer Netflix free

Shizam Mon 05-Oct-20 20:20:31

Netflix has some excellent drama series. The Crown is outstanding.
I was sharing my son’s account until I discovered only one account can watch at a time. So if I’m on it, he can’t watch. Need to get my own sorted!

Netflix is brilliant. Great entertainment and we watch via our daughter’s subscription, so definitely worth it!!

AlgeswifeVal Tue 06-Oct-20 08:05:35

Netflix , brilliant. Try JUNGLE, true story starring Daniel Radcliffe.

fevertree Tue 06-Oct-20 08:22:22

Shizam your son could simply upgrade to a family subscription at little extra cost, and then you could watch it. You could always pay him back if needed!

When we go to Netflix, which is paid for by my daughter, there are entrance or access buttons for 5 different family members and we simply click on 'Mum 'n Dad'.
