Do you binge watch?

My friends all seem to be binge watching The Crown atm. To me this is like having a box of chocolates and eating them all on one go. I prefer to savour each episode and make it last longer. What do other GNers do?

I might watch a couple of episodes but I wouldn’t watch all of them in one day. Apart from anything else, our internet would probably self-combust. grin

I prefer to spread them out as I know there will be times when there is nothing on so I’ve always got something to watch.

I'm a binger. Sometimes I'll deliberately set aside a day to watch (as I did with The Crown) and other times I tell myself I will just watch one episode, then just one more, until hours have gone by. I'm usually knitting at the time, and a combination of 'I'll finish this sleeve' and 'Just one more episode' is fatal.

No, I don't. I would get bored watching the same bunch of people on screen for hours. Also, I can't sit on the couch for hours on end without getting up and "stretching my legs". I can't even watch a long film without announcing "It's interval now" and taking the usual 20 minutes grin

If I'm really enjoying a programme, I might watch an episode on consecutive days (or I may skip some days).

I can watch 2 or 3 episodes at a time but couldn't watch all day, saying that it is very tempting with The Crown.

Just reaching the end of all 9 series of “As Time Goes By” in homage to Geoffrey Palmer who died recently.
I have made amazing progress with the Icelandic wool Afghan I am knitting too!

No, if it’s something good I prefer to anticipate the next episode.
Something to look forward to, the next week.

No, I cannot binge watch. I too like to savour each episode. I don't necessarily wait too long before I watch the next -maybe 2 days!
I miss the time when a programme came on each week and you had to watch it or miss it! We all used to chat about the programme at school ( or work) without anyone saying - " don't tell me I have recorded it and haven't seen it yet"

Have previously binged on MadMen and The Good Wife. During the first lockdown our son bought us the entire box set of The Sopranos, which I didn't get into when it was first shown and then this time around, 3 episodes in, I was hooked, we watched that continuously. Same with This Country, came to that late, but found it hilarious and watched all 3 series usually after the evening news, an antidote because it was and still is depressing.

We're currently watching this season of The Crown one episode at a time, my husband liked the first two with Claire Foy but told me he hasn't really liked it much since.

Not all day but DH will watch 2-3 episodes of things like Lucifer, White Collar and Queens Gambit every evening till they’re finished. I watch with him intermittently whilst doing other things.

I'm eeking The Crown out as there is so little else on- trying to save them for Sunday afternoons as I hate winter Sundays.

I couldn't sit all day and watch a series. Me and my hubby usually watch a couple of episodes at a time. At the moment we are watching Crusoe and harlots.

Craftycat Wed 18-Nov-20 10:06:23

Yes I do. I'm doing The Crown too.
I did Killing Eve on one day.
I don't like waiting for the next installment - I can read a whole book at one go too.

I'm a binge watcher, especially at weekends.

I could never watch TV in the daytime (I can hear my mother telling me it's both lazy and 'common') but I do watch a couple of episodes in a row of things I'm really into. At the moment that's The Crown and.. (ahem) Harlots.

We binge watch in the evening and it often goes on til early hours of the morning. My eyes are propped open with matchsticks today after watching several episodes of Cardinal on BBC Catchup. The Crown doesn't really tempt me though.

HannahLoisLuke Wed 18-Nov-20 10:13:29

I came late to the Crown as I didn't have Netflix when it started. Then I watched the first three series quite quickly, but only three episodes at a time at the most. I've just caught up but haven't yet started on series four.
The one series I did binge watch all in one go was Normal People, just loved it. I recorded it too so I'll watch it again sometime.

I binge watched Unorthodox on Netflix about a young Jewish married woman who flees her ultra orthodox community in New York, She runs away to Berlin where her estranged mother lives but they come after her.

It's moving, gripping, informative and heart warming and I was sorry that it was only four episodes.

I can highly recommend it.

Rosalyn69 Wed 18-Nov-20 10:20:34

Sort of. 2-3 episodes each day. I’m watching The Haunting of Bly Manor and me and my husband are watching Tracker.

Sputnik Wed 18-Nov-20 10:28:31

Can't stop watching Peaky Blinders but only 1 episode at a time, it's my go to comfort watch and this is my 5th time round.

nipsmum Wed 18-Nov-20 10:28:46

I am a nonbinger. I like to spread out the enjoyment of my favourites.

Love to binge watch, total escapism from Covid!

Spec1alk Wed 18-Nov-20 10:45:15

If we find something we like - recently Wallander-we watch one episode every night until the end . I enjoy the process and my OH and I find we absorb the plot better one episode at a time.

Nanny100 Wed 18-Nov-20 10:58:34

Can I ask a question about The Crown?
I’ve just started watching episode 4 (1982) so a year after Charles and Diana’s wedding. At the very end of the episode that led up to the actual wedding, we got a glimpse of Diana taken from behind in the wedding dress.
Please tell me that this won’t be all we see of it! There was an article in my paper saying how the underskirt took 95 metres of tulle and the buttons were sourced in France to be identical to the original and it cost £10,000 to make etc etc. We saw none of it! Does it appear later on in a flashback?
If not, they’ve wasted a lot of money and time!
