I loved the Black Beauty tv series and remember galloping around the garden singing the theme tune! Also enjoyed Follyfoot, The Sullivans and The Cedar Tree.

I can't remember particular episode *Curlywhirly'. I just remember Cookie and his comb. Was there someone in it called something like Efram Zimbalist Jnr?

Oh, I don't know but what a great name!

Yes! 77 Sunset Strip was fab! And the Patty Duke Show in which she played both girls.

Emergency Ward 10 was another. And Z Cars with that bloke who shouts a lot and he was called Fancy? The programme that scared me witless was an episode of Quatermass which was filmed in a disused tube station in London. They'd discovered alien larvae that was throbbing and pulsating and was about to hatch, with Dr Quatermass stuck down there! It was terrifying! grin

Bill & Ben & Weed still make me laugh out loud now. Also Pinky and Percy and Twizzle who’s nose got longer the more he lied!

Was this who you meant Curlywhirly? Efrem Zimbalist Jnr.

Ooh, how handsome is he Chewbacca?!! Unfortunately I don't remember much about the programme or who was in it; all I can remember is a big cylindrical hole!

My daughter and I both loved Pogle’s Wood, and, later, The Magic Roundabout.

Robinson Crusoe, it could be it's theme music that makes it so memorable. Also, I seem to recall a series called 'The Tinderbox' which I loved to watch.

Tales of the River Bank? Little boats with hamsters or guinea pigs.

Pinky and Perky
Blue Peter
The Singing Ringing Tree. My sister was terrified of the little man.
Dad's Army. I used to watch that with Grandpa.
Gideon's Way and Z Cars. I wasn't really allowed to watch them but sometimes crept down to watch.

Picture Book - Mondays
Andy Pandy - Tuesdays
Flowerpot Men - Wednesdays
Rag, Tag and Bobtail - Thursdays
Woodentops - Fridays

Just don't ask me what I did last week?‍♀️

Yes I remember those.

I don't remember Picture Book. Maybe we went out on Mondays. I loved Rag, Tag and Bobtail.

Lovely thread. I'm off to see if I can find some of these on YouTube.

Does anyone remember Billy Bean and his Funny Machine - or something like that? I remember being terrified by one episode when disappearing paint splashed on everything, and the screen went blank. I thought it would come and ‘disappear’ me!

I never had a TV until I was married so never saw children's programmes. Most people on here must be very young because you are naming programmes that my children watched.

White Horses
Black Beauty
Banana Splits
Scooby Doo
Further adventures of Dr Doolittle

Wagon Train. Can't remember why.
However I do remember in my mid-teens wanting to attend a group which met on Thursday evenings and almost refusing to go to this as it mean missing WT!

Did realise, even then, that this was stupid and went to group.

Stingray with Marina who had lovely long hair which I desperately wanted too but Mum wouldn't let me.
Thunderbirds - we laughed when we could see the strings. Tinga and Tucker Club, Lenny the Lion. Blue Peter with the original presenters all in black and white.

Not children's programmes but I remember Dad watched All Our Yesterdays and we saw motor bike scrambling and ten pin bowling, I think on Sunday mornings. Down Your Way with Franklin Engelman or Brian Johnston? and Rugby Special which was introduced with two pints of beer being clinked together.

lovebeigecardigans1955 Mon 25-Jan-21 12:28:34

Oh, and Doctor Who with William Hartnell or Patrick Troughton. We were scared and hid behind the sofa - haven't watched it for years.

Nanny2020 Mon 25-Jan-21 12:33:42

Little House on the Prairie, and passed it on to my daughter and watched the whole thing again with her !
