I loved the Black Beauty tv series and remember galloping around the garden singing the theme tune! Also enjoyed Follyfoot, The Sullivans and The Cedar Tree.

Not sure if my memories of Green Acres are merging with the Beverly Hillbillies! Was one of the Gabor sisters a neighbour of the Clampetts??

So many that have already been mentioned. Definitely Dr Who, The Tomorrow People, The magic roundabout are way up there when I was ten or so. Noggin the Nog, vision on, Magpie as well. As a teenager my favourites were The Baron , Randall and Hopkirk ( deceased) The persuaders and Top of the pops.

I've had a look on Google Nanny,
It was Eva Gabor
Had played the same character (Lisa Douglas) on three different series: The Beverly Hillbillies (1962), Petticoat Junction (1963) and Green Acres (1965).

Thanks sharon103. I have it in my head now that Green Acres was a spin off from Beverly Hillbillies. I’ll have to do some googling and maybe even track down some old episodes to watch.

I think I was still a child when Tales of the Unexpected came out.
I used to like that, even if it gave me the heebie jeebies.

You're welcome. You could be right.
If you go on Google make sure you look for the original Beverly Hillbillies. I think I saw a more modern series on there.

I can remember literally hiding behind the sofa the first time the Daleks appeared in Dr Who.
Shows based on historical figures - Richard the Lionheart and William Tell come to mind, not to mention Robin Hood, Robin Hood riding through the glen!
And Clarence the cross-eyed lion in Daktari.

MissAdventure Sun 10-Jan-21 21:55:27

The daleks terrified me.
I wasn't allowed to watch it after the first time.

Has this strangeness been mentioned? Very odd programme indeed. That big fish flapping around in an inch of water bothered me no end. And lets not mention the evil dwarf

It would have to be Champion The Wonder Horse for me - and Quatermass And The Pit, although perhaps not a child's programme?

Chewbacca Sun 10-Jan-21 22:17:14

Gilligan's Island; Bewitched and The Beverly Hillbillies. I still know all the words to the the theme tune!

Does anybody remember 77 Sunset Strip? One episode in particular scared me to death; I was about 5 or 6 years old and was watching it on my own (don't know where the rest of the family were!) A man was in a building and the floor suddenly opened and he fell into a huge, deep cylindrical pit, which then started to fill with water. The man couldn't swim and he started to panic. I don't remember what happened to him, but for some reason I was petrified. I still get the collywobbles if I see a deep pit.

Chewbacca Sun 10-Jan-21 22:18:54

Oh and Mr Ed (the talking horse)

I’ve been watching Randall & Hopkirk recently. It’s been on after Mash each evening. Yes, I’m still living in the past!

Curlywhirly Sun 10-Jan-21 22:39:40

Kate1949 I have tried looking for that particular episode on YouTube, so I can fathom out why I was so scared, but as I have no idea which episode it was, I can't find it!

I loved Petticoat Junction, Beverly Hillbillies, Gilligan's Isle. We used to make up dances in the playground at school to the theme tunes. Oh and The Patty Duke Show and The Pruitts of Southampton were favourites too.

I moved onto the Monkees and Top of the Pops in later years, along with High Chaparral, Alias Smith and Jones, the Virginian and the Monroes.

Yes, MissAdventure!

What a show that was!

I can't remember particular episode *Curlywhirly'. I just remember Cookie and his comb. Was there someone in it called something like Efram Zimbalist Jnr?
