When I used to buy paper tickets for our work lottery syndicate (do it online now) there is a space on the back of the tickets for you to write your name so that you can in some small way prove that it is your ticket. Presumably the newsagent had to hand the winning ticket over to the lottery company employee, so if it had had "the XXX dog kennels lottery syndicate" written on it, questions would have been asked. Of course, that's real life and it wouldn't have made much of a storyline for the TV programme
I have enjoyed all The Syndicate series, but I'm easily pleased, and I enjoyed the first episode of this series. It's easy to watch and a bit of flimflam that doesn't request much attention. The first episode of any series is spent setting out the characters and their various situations, and the story doesn't really get going until episode 2.
And yes, that dog is cute - worth watching for him alone!
