So, fellow fans, what do we think of the lineup? A very mixed bunch, personally only know of five, I’m sure we will soon have our favourites. Can’t wait for the glitz and glamour to brighten the long dark nights looming?

If I am excited as this 24 hours on about watching Strictly, heaven help me when I get back into a real theatre to see a real live show! I will have to hold back tears!

I love it, I dont take it seriously, I just enjoy it. The dancing, the costumes and the music. It's pure escapism.

Kim19 Sun 26-Sept-21 09:32:29

Ok, S, now I'm up for public humiliation by saying AP!

Nannylovesshopping Sun 26-Sept-21 09:27:29

Theonethank you, that’s very kind of you.

Sara1954 Sun 26-Sept-21 09:13:51

Kim
Who do you think then?

gma Sun 26-Sept-21 09:12:15

Well here we go again! Same predictable line up, with the exception of same sex couple, who were brilliant btw! Same comments from judges, and Anton doing his Len Goodman impression! How come you can have a judge who is very closely related to a contestant? Why can they all not be drawn out of a hat to ensure impartiality! It would throw up some interesting pairings!!!
The settings were brilliant and the costumes mostly brilliant!
But the orchestra is so underrated, they are terrific. I see a bit of friction between Greg Wise and some of the judges! He obviously is not used to being criticised! Oh darling, such a lovey!
That’s it then, no more watching until down to last 1/2 dozen!

Kim19 Sun 26-Sept-21 08:40:43

Well..... egotistically, I've decided who's going to win! Had to wait until last night to assess their sense of rhythm but had few doubts. I absolutely love strictly. It certainly gives a boost to this end quarter of the year.

Tilly’s mum was in floods of tears in the audience. A very proud mum and rightly so. Tilly looked beautiful in her dress and their dance was lovely. I think she’s going to do well.

Sara1954 Sun 26-Sept-21 08:27:25

Calendar girl
I agree about Anton modelling himself on Len, I thought the same.
Grannynannywanny
I thought the same about Greg, he looked a big petulant when he was talking to Claudia, I don’t think he’s used to being criticised.
I loved last nights show, but I have to say I started to find Motsi annoying, I’d forgotten how loud she is.

lemsip Sun 26-Sept-21 08:23:42

they were all amazing for a first night weren't they. maybe the scoring should be upped to marks out of 20 rather than 10...lol

Grannynannywanny Sun 26-Sept-21 08:08:04

I only just realised this morning that Greg Wise played the part of Lord Mountbatten in the Crown series. Considering I watched the series it’s taken a while for the penny to drop!

There appeared to be a little tension between Shirley and Greg. I felt she judged him a little more harshly. I get the feeling he’s going to be prone to not liking criticism.

Great show. John and Johannas ( sp ? ) were the highlight for me.
Amazing standard of dancing for week 1 from everyone.

ayse Sun 26-Sept-21 07:46:44

Calendargirl

I think Anton is modelling his judging style on Len Goodman’s, but not grumpy. Several phrases he used sounded just what Len would have come out with.

(Don’t miss Len, BTW. Or Bruno).

Just what my DH said. It could be just dance speak from that profession.

Nannylovesshopping I wish you a better week ahead and glad you enjoyed the show flowers

Must admit first time watch for a long time. Was fantastic, dancers, costumes, especially Robert Webb and partner, just a really good nights entertainment.

Nannylovesshopping Sat 25-Sept-21 22:25:37

Oh I so enjoyed every minute, brilliant entertainment, looking forward already to next week.

Grannynannywanny Sat 25-Sept-21 22:22:05

Great show. The standard of dancing was exceptional for week 1.

BigBertha1 Sat 25-Sept-21 22:14:24

Johan and John fab u lus. Dance of the night.

eazybee Sat 25-Sept-21 22:07:55

I particularly enjoyed Robert Webb and his partner Diane(?) although I don't think the lady judges enjoyed having the micky taken out of the dance competitions.
Some of the marks were a little extravagant for the first week.

Sweetpeasue Sat 25-Sept-21 21:33:24

Nina' s Samba was a bit frantic and messy I thought and the dress was horrible with the huge frill flapping everywhere. Really looking forward to their next dances. Amazing standard for a first week.

GrannyGravy13 Sat 25-Sept-21 21:33:00

Strictly at its best,

Sara1954 Sat 25-Sept-21 21:27:33

I quite liked Ninas samba, I liked the choreography anyway, some pretty good dancers in there tonight, looks like being an exiting series.

Sparklefizz Sat 25-Sept-21 21:26:25

Wow! What a night! AJ's jive was terrific. Rose was truly amazing, and John and Johan looked so natural together - great dancing.

I thought Nina's samba was stompy too Calendargirl but what do I know?

Didn't think much of the large lady in the white dress (sorry, can't remember her name) but the judges liked her.

Looking forward to next week. smile

Great show. Adam was fabulous, love those bendy legs! Can't wait for next week.
