Is back on Wednesday. Can’t wait!

Roseflower5 Wed 18-Aug-21 13:28:34

Hi, everyone, it it possible for someone to recommend me on how to get on this programme, so that, these people can also help me with changing the inside of my house please

JaneJudge Wed 18-Aug-21 13:35:46

You will have to wait until they announce a second series Rose smile

I remember the teapots getting smashed as the 'floating shelves' fell to the floor. It was Linda Barker who was the designer and the poor homeowner was distraught as they were teapots she'd been collecting for years, some were quite valuable.

I saw a clip on Breakfast news this morning and the styling looked like it had not changed since it was first broadcast. He he. Have you noticed how the designers use all sorts of strange colours and designs in these homes but when you see photos of their homes they all seem to be white/neutral colours.

nipsmum Wed 18-Aug-21 13:47:42

It says not my favourite programme. Most of the makeovers were too way out for me

Shandy57 Wed 18-Aug-21 14:00:28

When we moved to our railway station in Northumberland in 1999 I applied, along with our neighbours in the attached cottage. We had to do a lot of work - video the rooms we wanted to decorate, along with photographs, plus send in a profile of each of us. They did respond but sadly thought the railway line would interfere in the filming. They did choose the vicarage in Morpeth and the owners were very unhappy with the outcome, I think we had a lucky escape!

LLB was a bit wacky to me often thought some of them were to feminine or fussy.
Hope he’s got better taste now.

Lucca Wed 18-Aug-21 15:00:23

I always thought the workmanship was awful!

BigBertha1 Wed 18-Aug-21 15:02:17

Looking forward to this LLB is tongue in cheek I think and its light relief.

Purplecatlover1 Wed 18-Aug-21 15:13:06

That’s the one where neighbours helped right? You each did your neighbours house with help from the presenters?
The ones that I remember working were those that the neighbours said no to LLB more wacky suggestions and insisted on less outlandish make overs.

JaneJudge Wed 18-Aug-21 15:14:06

Shandy57, do you still live in a railway station?

HannahLoisLuke Wed 18-Aug-21 15:25:58

Remember it well. Also remember how tacky it all was. Stuff stapled together so nothing would last and LLB flouncing about in his rose patterned suit. He now sports a beard with a twirly moustache, just hope his decorating skills have improved. I shall watch with interest.

Gabrielle56 Wed 18-Aug-21 15:36:54

Classic!! Fab idea along the lines of "here's one we ruined earlier" !!??!!

Gabrielle56 Wed 18-Aug-21 15:38:41

Lucca

I always thought the workmanship was awful!

Do you remember the one with tea towels nailed to the bathroom walls as curtains?? And still wet paint / tastelessness awash!

Blinko Wed 18-Aug-21 16:02:18

I recall an LLB creation, might have been on a houseboat, where it was done out in black, red and white. Startling!

You're very brave grin

Maggiemaybe Wed 18-Aug-21 16:10:28

Roseflower5, I'd wait till applications are open again for Your House Made Perfect. You've to pay for all the changes yourself, but the designers do a great job, imho.

I'd actually pay good money to keep Llewelly-Bowen well away from my house. smile

Shandy57 Wed 18-Aug-21 17:03:00

JaneJudge very sadly I couldn't afford to stay there once my husband died. I managed to sell at auction last May and had enough to buy a small bungalow. I recently applied for a Sophie Robinson makeover and was rejected for that too!

spabbygirl Wed 18-Aug-21 17:42:48

I am so looking forward to this, I used to love the last series. I come with a bit of background these days, my husband has been gardener for LLB for the past 7 or 8 years and he & his family are so nice. There are always cups of tea, lunch, a nice xmas card & pressie from Fortnum & Masons. LLB does get asked to talk on other programmes on family matters etc & he always speaks sense. I guess you have to be a bit different if you're a telly designer & the law of averages says not everyone will like everything

JaneJudge Wed 18-Aug-21 17:50:46

Oh I'm sorry Shandy sad that sounds really hard x

Squiffy Wed 18-Aug-21 18:34:21

It wasn’t just some of the homeowners who were distressed, I seem to recall that that’s what they did to half of the furniture! Beautiful natural or stained wood, which was then painted and ‘distressed’! ??

MayBee70 Wed 18-Aug-21 18:36:39

What’s a Sophie Robinson makeoever? Is she doing a great interior design challenge type programme on another channel?

Good luck. Let us know if you get accepted

I’ve always rather wanted to live in an old railway station. There was a standout George Clarke programme the other year that featured a station near Morpeth. And there’s a tiny little railway house just off the A1 near Belford that’s changed hands recently that’s always fascinated me. I quite like the idea of trains whizzing past albeit realising that I could never have a cat.

MissAdventure Wed 18-Aug-21 19:23:29

I would absolutely love to live in somewhere a bit different.
That is, different like a train station or an old bus.
Not different as in Llewellyn Bowen type 'different'.
