Oh, Tosh, please be safe.
I hope that Jimmy has found love again.

His girlfriend is a drip. Not suited at all.

Me thinks that's the end of these series.
Big Boss gone.
Jimmy's mate not in it (can't remember his name)
Tosh probably blown to smithereens?
Jimmy loved up and probably going off into the Sunset.

Been good though, time to end it?

The is to be another series but Duggie Henshaw is leaving and will be replaced. I am so sad to see him go he is nothing like the Perez in the books who has Spanish blood but he is a jolly good actor. I have not heard if Tosh was leaving too .

I don’t think Shetland is as good this series, it’s gone a bit ‘Janet and John’.

Sparklefizz Fri 26-Aug-22 07:59:27

I don't know if they have a different script writer this series but the dialogue sounds stilted to me.

Visgir1 Sun 28-Aug-22 17:25:01

Warning.... Warning!!? Don't look.
Bloody TV section in The Times has given out what happened to Tosh!!

They should promote Tosh after all she goes through for Shetland police

Don't like Tosh's boyfriend. Can't make my mind up with Jimmy's girlfriend - all through the previous series I was convinced she was up to something but now I just wonder if it's the poor chemistry that she has with Douggie Henshaw

Calendargirl Sun 28-Aug-22 17:45:11

Yes, not keen on the girlfriend. All seems a bit ‘stilted’.

Jimmy Perez has gone off a bit though, or Dougie has, looks ‘jowly’ and not much fun really.

Cold Sun 28-Aug-22 17:49:08

I think this series could do with more cake fridge action

Floradora9 Sun 28-Aug-22 21:38:42

Ann Cleaves says she will keep on writing her Vera books but there will be no more Shetland ones from her . I think Perez and his lady friend will walk off into the sunset together and he will be replaced. A great pity in my book as I think Duggie Henshaw is very good. I wonder where he will crop up next.

Callistemon21 Sun 28-Aug-22 22:05:36

Is it me or are they all talking more slowly and deliberately, enunciatng their words carefully so those of us south of the border can understand without sub-titles?

Callistemon21 Sun 28-Aug-22 22:06:00

Enunciating

Charleygirl5 Sun 28-Aug-22 22:49:28

Callistemon I will happily, for a fee, tell you what is going on!

Dougie Henshall apparently comes from Glasgow but he does speak well, slowly and enunciating properly.

TV Times online has kindly explained what happened to Tosh. Why do they have to blurt everything out?

Callistemon21 Sun 28-Aug-22 22:55:47

Thankyou but no, Charleygirl , I have my eyes and ears firmly shut!

Eloethan Sun 28-Aug-22 23:30:52

I think Shetland is one of the best things on TV. I can't imagine it without Dougie Henshall.

Jaxjacky Wed 31-Aug-22 22:09:25

Oh exciting, still got questions and shouting at the TV.

Yes, I just said the same.

BigBertha1 Wed 31-Aug-22 22:11:58

Love it and will miss it. Vera not my cup of tea at all.

Cold Wed 31-Aug-22 22:56:20

Are they going to make more of that other Anne Cleeves thing (Last Call) about the gay cop who grew up in a strict cult? It was slow to start but I enjoyed it

Charleygirl, he is from Barrhead, a small town near Glasgow.

Did anyone hear Anne Cleeves on "Front Row" Radio 4 on Monday.
She was saying she is going to continue with the one set in the West Country (Last Call) and just realising another Vera, though she said there have only been (I think she said) 10 books. The TV series is based on her Vera. Plus she said her Vera in her mind is not anything like the TV Vera.
Catch it on BBC sounds also very interesting report on how books are marketed.

eazybee Thu 01-Sept-22 09:50:43

I did not enjoy the sadistic 'overtones' of last night's episode; Ann Cleve's work is not usually as explicit as that.

Calendargirl Thu 01-Sept-22 12:15:09

If Jimmy rides off into the sunset with the latest girlfriend, I predict it won’t last.

They don’t seem suited at all. Either that, or no chemistry between the two actors.

(I realise that if he leaves the series, we shall never know anyhow).

Farzanah Thu 01-Sept-22 13:33:12

I think this has been one of the best things on TV lately. It can be a bit gruesome but I can divorce myself from the violence knowing it isn’t real.

I agree Calendargirl latest girlfriend ?. No chemistry and I think she’s just too “perfect”. She ministers to every needy person like a pseudo Mother Teresa.

paddyann54 Thu 01-Sept-22 14:03:18

I think the relationship is quite accurate ,I've seen bereaved friend behave just like this. They were wary ,nervous ,scared of being hurt and I can see that with Dougies character. The new woman in his life works with the terminally ill (in the last series)so is going at a pace he'll be happy with but a bit awkward in case she's got it wrong .
I'd like to see him sail off into the sunset with her .I have a real soft spot for Dougie Henshall ,he has my late fathers eyes which make makes me a bit teary at times

Glorianny Thu 08-Sept-22 10:40:10

I was just wondering if this is the last series with Perez does he walk away at the end or meet a more grisly end?
