Hooray! A new series of Shetland starts next Wednesday smile

Callistemon21 Thu 08-Sept-22 10:49:51

I'd like to see him sail off into the sunset with her
This, rather than a grisly end although I'm not keen on her either.

However, as they both seem settled there, where would they sail off to?

I was peering through my fingers during last night's episode. It's a great serial but I admit to getting lost occasionally!

LadyGracie Thu 08-Sept-22 17:11:11

We watched last nights episode, a lot going on, sometimes confusing.
At the end a person was working in dim light with red gloves on.
I said to DH someone was wearing red gloves earlier on, I rewound the whole programme then fast forwarded it.
No, no red gloves, I then realised that someone had been wearing red gloves in the previous programme The Repair Shop!

Shock news!

Jay Blades is the baddie!

Alioop Thu 08-Sept-22 17:20:17

Oh I so look forward to Shetland, I love it, especially the scenery plus I'm a sucker for a Scottish accent too. I haven't a notion who that was making the bomb, it's got me totally baffled. I'll be sad to see it finish next week.

BlueBelle Thu 08-Sept-22 17:36:33

I love it but half the time not sure who or what they re talking about but I try to catch up and engage the brain

Sparklefizz Thu 08-Sept-22 17:49:13

I'm hopeless with accents so I have to have subtitles on.

Shock news! Jay Blades is the baddie! Love it! grin

Steven Robertson (Sandy) is a Shetlander - listen out for his accent.
It's quite different to the other actors' accents.

He rolls his ‘r’s’ such a lot.

It's a lovely accent

I like it too, but need subtitles.
A friend visits Shetland frequently and loves it there. There are no trees though, but they decorate phone boxes and it’s wonderful fir twitchers.

I really enjoy Shetland too. Does anyone know why there are no trees in Shetland or for that matter the Faroes (watched Trom on BBC4). There seem to be plenty of pine forests in Scotland and Norway.

And that’s the end of Jimmy Perez ?

Glorianny Wed 14-Sept-22 22:02:18

Aw happy ending- they walk off together into the sunset!!!

Ahh ?
But at he end they said there’s another series next year

I know I’m in the minority but I think Douglas Henshall’s acting is really wooden.

There are no trees because of the wind!
We lived on the west coast of Scotland where there was nothing due west. It was north of Ireland, south of the Hebrides. The wind was relentless! If we went into town, which was over a small ridge there were palm trees I couldn’t see any trees from my house.
I found it quite depressing. I don’t know if it was the wind or the lack of trees.

I do too merlotgran! Though I do like the Perez character and was pleased that there was a happy ending for him.

It was so gloomy I almost stopped watching the series weeks ago. Glad I didn’t, a good final unravelling and fine actions by Perez showing his priorities!

GrandmasueUK Thu 15-Sept-22 01:16:58

I've enjoyed this, but there are so many crossover actors in the four series I've been watching I'll need one of those boards with pictures and names and bits of string linking them.
I also wanted to get my steamer out and thoroughly clean that prison cell!
I'll miss Jimmy.

BlueBelle Thu 15-Sept-22 03:10:25

So is Shetland coming back next year without Perez?

Yes.

Alioop Thu 15-Sept-22 11:39:44

I'll miss Perez so much in it, I don't think it'll be the same without him. It was great he wasn't killed off though and he got his woman in the end. Took him bloomin long enough.

Sparklefizz Thu 15-Sept-22 11:52:18

After making a decision like he did to release Lloyd, he hasn't "quit", he'll be sacked. Bang goes his police pension!

(Ducks below parapet)

Also it was ridiculous that Alison could have moved Rodgers' body, folded him up and packed it into the suitcase, and hefted that case into the boot of her car. The phrase "dead weight" comes to mind and if she managed that, she should be entering the weightlifting for the Olympics!

I thought he'd jumped before he was pushed?

He decided to release Lloyd from custody in that short period of time between deciding there were no charges to be brought because Alison had been charged with murder and before the extradition order came through. Perez took the decision that Lloyd was not a flight risk hmm!
