Haven’t seen any posts about either of these since they aired.

Gave up on TLC after two episodes, have read the book but found it rather dreary, couldn’t remember the outcome and didn’t really care. Matthew Venn is no Jimmy Perez, but Jimmy looks a bit jowly and could do with a shave. I know he has a lot on his plate though, with murders, bereavement and a dad with dementia.

She does gurn, doesn't she, Allsorts

We've got expressionless Jimmy, gurning Tosh, bemused Duncan, quietly smirking Maggie.

My money's on Sandy taking charge.

Allsorts Sat 27-Nov-21 22:08:44

Shetland good but Tosh is very over the top with her expressions, it’s funny when it shouldn’t be.

Presume you meant protecting Donna * Amberlone*

Amberone Sat 27-Nov-21 16:03:30

I don’t know who killed Sally, but Donna killed Lizzie because she was afraid she would tell her abusive husband about her affair with Duncan.

Sally was killed by her father, the detective who had protected Lizzie from being arrested by jailing an innocent man, Thomas Mallone (Series 4 I think). Sally had discovered the truth and told her father she would go to the police. He strangled her with a scarf to throw suspicion back onto Mallone, who had just been released from prison.

I love Tosh’s facial expressions! Gutted for Duncan and Jimmy - Donna must have been so twisted and bitter to choose to die prematurely to try and ruin their lives. I do like the story line about Jimmy’s
father and think it adds to his characterisation. Also a poignant depiction of dementia. Cant’t wait until series 7.

I really enjoyed it.
Brilliant piece of acting when Tosh saw the result of her pregnancy test.

Curlywhirly

I enjoyed it - but contrary to most people on this thread I think Dougie Henshall (Perez) is not a very good actor; I think he's quite 'wooden' and not very convincing. Sorry to all those Dougie fans on here!

I have to agree with you. He was one-dimensional in this latest series, I thought. I don't know if that's how he's been told to portray Perez or his normal acting style. I can't remember seeing him in anything else to compare.

Calistemon Thu 25-Nov-21 17:38:16

so is that rather drippy computer bloke her husband ?

That was a disappointment too; I was hoping he was going to turn out to be the whistleblower, trying to put the blame on Sandy!

Well, with Sandy possibly in trouble for going the the press (I think), Tosh pregnant, Duncan and Jimmy arrested and in a cell, the next series doesn't sound as if it will be very inspiring, does it!

annodomini Thu 25-Nov-21 09:21:03

I think the story line about Jimmy's father was an unnecessary distraction. Is that destined to be a major part of the next season?
I've never thought of Dougie Henshall as my idea of Perez which is probably an effect of having been a fan of the books. His acting too often seems to consist of a rather blank stare and as a person, he is depicted as becoming increasingly unattractive.

Calendargirl Thu 25-Nov-21 09:14:28

Thanks Silverlining I will probably re-watch as I missed other bits also.

Ladyleftfieldlover Thu 25-Nov-21 08:58:59

Does anyone remember him in Anna Karenina playing Levin?

It fell flat like a Shetland Summer.

Too many Murrders and not enough fun. Do you really clamp someone in handcuffs at the police station when he is the chief detective?

I thought the computer bloke and the policewoman were about to confess to a crime not that they were expecting a baby.

I watched it mainly because my pal's DD is one of the actors. and another worked with Mark Bonnar at Edinburgh council before he was famous.

Ladyleftfieldlover Thu 25-Nov-21 08:09:46

Well, Tosh is pregnant. I could make out the symbols. I like her boyfriend. But, generally what a disappointment. Half of the next series, which apparently they’ve already made, will be taken up with the mess Donna left behind and clearing Perez.

silverlining48 Thu 25-Nov-21 07:52:22

The politician wife of the man who was shot ()Galbraith?)

Calendargirl Thu 25-Nov-21 06:47:24

I nodded off, so who was the murderer?

BlueBelle Thu 25-Nov-21 04:31:39

I too hadn’t a clue about the pregnancy I guessed it was a yes , so is that rather drippy computer bloke her husband ?
I seem to ask myself more questions than I know answers
I find all the names difficult to work out who’s who but having said all that I throughly enjoyed it

Such a brilliant series. They've all been gripping.

Definitely going to be series 7. BBC site says they are already filming it and we get to see it in 2022. Hope we don't have to wait a full year though.

Test showed that Tosh is pregnant?

Gwyneth Wed 24-Nov-21 23:11:14

And you’re right Calistemon and Silver even if I had seen it clearly I wouldn’t have been sure re positive or negative. They weren’t around in my day either!

Gwyneth Wed 24-Nov-21 23:07:37

Thank you posters glad it wasn’t just me who couldn’t make it out. I couldn’t really tell from her facial expression either. Just hope she will be in next series. Wouldn’t be the same without Tosh I really like her.

silverlining48 Wed 24-Nov-21 23:05:43

I saw a blue line of that helps,
Think it pregnant but can’t be sure, these things weren’t around in my day,

Calistemon Wed 24-Nov-21 22:58:47

Charleygirl5

Gwyneth neither could I! I have forgotten who the father is.

Calistemon I could not agree more- even in a month I will have forgotten why he is in that situation.

It was difficult enough working out what was going on and remembering last week's episode. I did wonder at the start of this one if I'd missed last week's but I think I nodded off for 10 minutes towards the end last week ?

Calistemon Wed 24-Nov-21 22:56:28

I've no idea how to read one of those pregnancy testing kits, sorry, Gwyneth

They weren't around in the dim and distant past, we had to rely on old-fashioned methods ?
