Hello
Yes, he’s off to GBNews.

He’s said because of something to do freedom of speech, apparently.

Not sure if the word ‘w***’ has been mentioned.

What do we think then?

MerylStreep Fri 12-Nov-21 09:02:22

One thing I do like about GB News is their regional reporters.
These are people who are obviously starting out on their careers as reporters.
These people wouldn’t see the door let alone get a foot in it with the likes of the bbc, itv, channel 4. Same old, same old.

To be honest I have watched EH pretty much shut women down on single sex spaces so am laughing that he is getting offended about lack of free speech.

The TWAW lot really do have all bases covered don’t they sad

FannyCornforth Fri 12-Nov-21 09:06:51

I was going to say something very rude about w* / relief, but thought better of it

I agree Lilydrop.pc has gone mad.

I tend to mute EH as I don’t find him a good interviewer so I won’t be following him over.

Oh yes, I know!
Anniebach and I have previously discussed the famous Madeley / viagra episode. shockblush
If Madeley was to go to GBN, I’d be a convert, especially if he took Judy with him, if only for the filthy looks and sighs of despair she would give him! smile

Zoejory Fri 12-Nov-21 10:59:47

I shall admit to rather liking him. Only when he's with Ruth though. The adverts are deplorable. He has made some asinine comments. But I have to admit that when the 2 of them together they raise a titter from me. Sometimes. And his accent is another point in his favour.

I won't be watching this new show. though. I watched GB News when it first started for about 3 minutes. It was dreadful. I'm surprised it's still going .

Funnily enough, DH and I were discussing Eamonn Holmes last night, we don't rate him at all, I'm afraid.
We have more admiration for his wife and her efforts at trying to diversify her career.

It seems clear that he would do anything for money - freedom of speech (my foot!)

MerylStreep Fri 12-Nov-21 11:11:23

I sometimes found Richard Madeley mildly amusing, that was until he took the piss out of Southend when doing a live interview with someone local on the tragic death of David Amess.
As far as I’m concerned, now, he’s dead in the water. Metaphorically speaking you understand ?
But having thought about it?

highlanddreams Fri 12-Nov-21 11:14:02

I don't go out of my way to watch EH but if he's on at a time I can watch I'll give him a look and see what he's like.
We like Farage too he's very good, I was surprised about that I must admit, but he doesn't shy away from news that others channels and presenters are afraid to touch and that's a refreshing change.
I also like Michelle Dewberry but I only get to see the last half of her show every day, but she's very good.
I loved Dan Wootton but he's changed his time now and I won't see him at all unless I record it so I won't bother because one of the guests he has one regularly is really rude & talks over everyone else like they've no right to an opinion if it's different from hers, so annoying. I wish Dan would take her to task on that & shut her down or better still not have her on at all!

We like Farage
Words fail me a more unlikeable man I cannot think of I d better get off this thread if it’s going to be honouring that man he must have had an complete personality change if he’s listening to people as I ve never heard a more bombastic shouty rude man in my life

You really don’t seem to be able to tolerate other views BlueBelle
Actually, on GB News Farage is anything but shouty.Presenting is obviously his forte.
Holmes has a relaxed style of presenting but I’ve never seen enough of him to know if he will be a draw for the programme or not.

Whether is is 'shouty' or not, he represents racism - and will not apologise for not supporting his views, or those of the people supporting or agreeing with him.

Call it judgmental if you wish. your judgment has no hold on me- almost badge of honour at this stage.

lemongrove Fri 12-Nov-21 11:21:15

When did you change your name to Bluebelle Kali??
Btw....your judgement has no hold on me either.

Alegrias1 Fri 12-Nov-21 11:23:58

I remember what Farage was saying in a calm and measured manner on the few minutes of GB News that I've watched.

He said that our true friends in the world speak English.

Fascism doesn't arrive in jackboots and rallies, it arrives in a nice suit and quiet words.

I don’t watch GB News and I am not that fond of Eamonn Holmes either, irritating man, so I shall not be watching!

I'm thrilled. Can we put all the other irritating presenters there please?

Kali2 Fri 12-Nov-21 11:26:51

It didn't!

You just can't see the difference between a variety of 'opinions' (do you prefer classical or rock music milk chocolate or dark, otters or lions ....) and support of 'racism'. Somethings cannot be tolerated- and I won't. Or support of politicians who are liars and fraudsters and only in it for themselves.

Marydoll Fri 12-Nov-21 11:27:32

Well said Alegrias.

Gravitas isn’t a word that springs to mind when I think of Eamonn Holmes. Especially when I see him on that cringeworthy advert for the leg circulation booster device.

youtu.be/Hr1hJ1R3zio

Anyone that starts trying to sell things like that lose all credibility with me, Carol Vordemann being a prime example. As for Farage I’ll give that a miss. I can’t bear him or the sound of his voice. I’m sure he’s good at interviewing as he has a way with words but he’d be just as good as a snake oil salesman. He makes my flesh crawl.

TopsyIrene06 Fri 12-Nov-21 12:16:12

Well said Algerias

MayBee70 Fri 12-Nov-21 13:08:56

Seconded.

FannyCornforth Fri 12-Nov-21 13:16:20

AlegriasThirded, well actually, fourthed.
Oddly, your comment brought to mind the children’s book ‘Three by the Sea’ and the suave salesman fox and his ‘winds of change’.
It’s by Emily Gravett if anyone is interested

Kandinsky Fri 12-Nov-21 13:30:05

He said that our true friends in the world speak English

Although over 1.5 billion people speak English he’s cast his net pretty wide.
However, I don’t agree with him there as plenty of Irish & Scottish people can’t stand the English.
