I was going watch this after noon but I got led astray by ET I’ll watch tomorrow it looks good.

Oopsadaisy1 Sat 25-Dec-21 15:15:42

Gave up after about 15 minutes

Oldbat1 Sat 25-Dec-21 17:53:08

We’re watching it just at the moment.

I watched half of it and was disappointed . Such a great idea and a great cast but far too long and surely shouldn’t be a comedy. I looked up the ending.

annodomini Sat 25-Dec-21 19:12:11

Watched it and enjoyed it. the suspense was well built up. What on earth made Ladyleftfieldlover think it was being played as a comedy? I wasn't laughing. The cast was excellent - de Caprio as good as ever.

I think it was satirical. Leonardo DiCaprio was really good, as were the rest of the cast. I enjoyed it

tanith Sat 25-Dec-21 20:22:32

It is meant to be satirical I’ll watch it tomorrow.

annodomini Sat 25-Dec-21 20:48:30

Apologies - I do realise its satirical intentions but in parts it came almost to close to the possible, for example where a big business exercised undue influence over what should be government decisions.

annodomini Sat 25-Dec-21 20:48:47

TOO close!

Grandmabatty Sat 25-Dec-21 21:21:15

Definitely a touch of Mark Zuckerberg there!

I was looking forward to this but I too was disappointed. DH enjoyed it.

Pittcity Sun 26-Dec-21 09:19:40

Loved it. Spent a lot of time deciding if Mark Rylance was Bezos or Elon Musk?
So close to the truth and so glad Trump can't make these decisions any more!

Jane43 Sun 26-Dec-21 10:56:54

I watched this yesterday evening, I hadn’t looked at the cast or read anything about the film beforehand so was unsure at first but I started to really enjoy watching it and thought it was very clever. If I had looked at the cast, which was stellar, I would have realised it was something special, I honestly didn’t realise that was Mark Rylance but I see it now, thanks Pittcity

CrazyGrandma2 Sun 26-Dec-21 11:15:34

We thought it was simply brilliant!

Pittcity Sun 26-Dec-21 13:14:16

He's such a good actor Jane43 that it takes time to realise it's him.

Bea65 Sun 26-Dec-21 19:10:12

Very satirical..and slightly amusing..Leo excellent and Meryl Streep looking good!

DillytheGardener Sun 26-Dec-21 19:20:00

I watched it last night too and loved it! Definitely shades of Rupert Murdock, Bezos and Zuckerburg.

nadateturbe Sun 26-Dec-21 22:42:23

Watched the last hour when I came downstairs to find OH and his son watching. It was satirical and quite funny I thought. Enjoyed it.

Pittcity

He's such a good actor Jane43 that it takes time to realise it's him.

He has been one of my favourite actors since Wolf Hall and he was amazing in Bridge Of Spies and The Trial Of The Chicago Seven.

Watched it last night and loved it. Very satirical but also funny. I laughed out loud at some of the jokes “interrupting this programme to bring you a newsflash” the programme being “Jackpot Fiancé”. I assume that was a nod to the Love Island, Married at First Sight type programmes. Great cast, great film.

Peartree Tue 28-Dec-21 08:43:32

I watched it and enjoyed it too. I wanted to smack the President and her son. Good acting. Love Leo.

granfromafar Wed 29-Dec-21 12:30:54

I watched this yesterday and loved it. Thought there were lots of comedic lines and quite a few laugh-out-loud moments. A bit too close to home in parts though. Agree you need to stick with it and not give up in first half hour.

I must be the odd one out here - I was distinctly underwhelmed by it.

It is exactly what is happening to climate change
