Did anyone watch his new tv show last night? What did you think, I thought it was dire, his guests were. Sarah “ I’m Hilarious ‘ Millican. And James Fantastic Nesbitt ,
I quite like JB but he is going to have to up his game and guests if he wants to keep this Saturday night slot ,, IMO of course,

I thought it was much better than the Jonathan Ross show!

BlueBelle Sun 09-Jan-22 09:57:18

I didn’t watch it but I do like John Bishop very much and have seen him in a drama and he’s a good actor too I haven’t seen Sarah Millican for ages I found her very funny at first but then it gets a bit samey and you know exactly what’s coming
I can’t watch Jonathon Ross he irritates me a lot

anything is better than the Jonathan Ross show!

No I didn't watch it, can't stand any of them. Jonathan Ross is dire now, I rarely know who any of the guests are. And he is so desperate to stay 'cool' and relevant instead of maturing into a decent chat show host. Even the Graham Norton Show has become a shadow of its former self.
Michael Parkinson has his flaws and made a few bloopers, but on the whole he did interesting and mature interviews.

I don’t like him the over exaggerated Scouse accent grates on me and I am a Liverpudlian.

Kate1949 Sun 09-Jan-22 10:05:49

He seems like a decent chap. I've never found him funny. Or Sarah Millican, Jimmy Carr or Michael 'If I pull a funny face people will laugh' MacIntyre. None of the modern ones really. Just my opinion.

Jaxjacky Sun 09-Jan-22 11:05:54

We watched about two thirds, he was trying too hard.

Lilypops Sun 09-Jan-22 11:16:56

Redhead 56. I am a Liverpudlian and I find he over exaggerates the accent, I have never met anyone who talks like he does.

I thought it was awful but DH liked it. Was it live as he mentioned the results of the masked singer and the Ant & Dec programme that were on immediately beforehand?
BTW the Ant and Dec one was turned off after 10 minutes as it reminded me of "Numberwang" from Mitchell and Webb in that they seemed to be making up the rules as they went along.

I quite liked the program. As it was the first one, I’ll watch a few more before deciding.

Lincslass Sun 09-Jan-22 14:06:11

Saw it advertised, scrolled straight past.

Anything mentioning Sarah Millican appearing has me rushing for the off button. She's as amusing as a dose of ebola.

GillT57 Sun 09-Jan-22 14:09:50

I didn't watch it, but I do hope this is not another case of a good comedian and actor not doing what he is good at and being persuaded to do some sort of nonsense chat show. I am always saddened when I see a talented comedian fronting a tacky bells and whistles and whooping audience quiz show. God, I hate those type of shows and their moronic 'bus them in' audiences.

JaneJudge Sun 09-Jan-22 14:14:56

I thought it was ok but I'd had a couple of glasses of wine

Kamiso Sun 09-Jan-22 14:17:06

It wasn’t what we were expecting. It was ok as there wasn’t much else on. He does appear to exaggerate his accent so it comes out rather mangled. It might improve once he gets more comfortable. He seems quite a genuine bloke without too many airs and graces.

Sarah Milligan is another one who exaggerates her accent. I used to find her funny but, as already mentioned, it’s the same routine now when she occasionally appears on tv.

I do like John Bishop but didn't even realise it was on. Perhaps we won't bother.

Did anyone watch his programme about the rescue of the Beluga whales? Just lovely.

Barmeyoldbat Sun 09-Jan-22 18:41:00

Well we both enjoyed it, it was different and I can understand why it was put on at 9.30

LilyoftheValley Sun 09-Jan-22 18:46:30

Didn't see the programme but I do like the chap. Kind hearted - has some rescue animals.

Mollygo Sun 09-Jan-22 19:12:40

We recorded it as last night was already busy. We’ll watch it tonight instead of Call the Midwife. I like Sarah Millican, she’s even better live!

Lilypops Sun 09-Jan-22 22:08:02

Calistemon . Yes we watched the Beluga whales programme and John Bishop was very caring and emotional on it , but I was very disappointed with his show, I will watch nex5 week to se3 if it is any better with different guests on ,
