Did anyone else watch it?
Is anyone else confused?

The usual slightly dark, sometimes mumbled BBC production but spotting places we know was more interesting.

I think you can pay a lot of money to look stoopid. Fashion houses/designers and ‘the Emperor ‘s new clothes’ comes to mind. The more garish in colour and design often screams money.

PinkCosmos Fri 11-Feb-22 13:57:26

I thought the clothes looked like some of the ones in Killing Eve. Maybe it's the fashion grin.

I enjoyed it more as a binge watch as I wouldn't have been able to remember all of the little details week to week.

Doodledog Fri 11-Feb-22 13:46:13

I agree that Elliot's mother was awful, but none of the characters were particularly likeable, were they?

Some of the clothes, too - considering the budgets they presumably had, there were some shocking outfits!

Urmstongran Fri 11-Feb-22 13:07:48

I was hoping for something deep being hidden by Elliott’s mother. What a posh bitch! Such put downs to ‘Sasha’. And how crass of her to say in front of her own daughter that Chloe was “like the daughter I never had”.
Oof!

Doodledog Fri 11-Feb-22 12:59:28

I enjoyed it, although the ending was a bit frustrating. I thought that it held its momentum far better than many of the dramas I've watched recently.

I think there should have been more clues to the outcome before the end (or maybe there were, but they were just too subtle for me?). In an episodic drama it's easy to forget little hints between episodes, so they need to be a bit more obvious than in a film or book, and without them we aren't carried along as easily.

Overall I'd give it 8/10 though - it was better than most of the Spring schedule so far, I think.

Urmstongran Fri 11-Feb-22 12:22:27

With hindsight I think it needed serious editing. Six hours for this?

Jane43 Fri 11-Feb-22 12:19:40

I stuck with it and by the end I did think it was worth watching but as I said in an earlier post I found the scenes in the dark very frustrating.

I love the series and we watched it to the end last night. It’s great and I wont give away the ending. Her car is a Golf GTi and I wouldn’t say no to it. It will be a classic in the future as DH says they are getting quite expensive now. I have had two ordinary Golfs in the past and the best cars I have ever had. Fabulous.

I googled an explanation of the series and found the Radio Times gave a good resume. It helped. I felt annoyed by the very frequent dark scenes when I could see nothing, so I was missing quite a lot and found those scenes really frustrating.

seacliff Thu 10-Feb-22 08:07:21

Yes I thought the same about her old car.

I really like the actress. Surprisingly I've only ever seen her once before, playing Princess Anne. Let's hope we see her again. Others are on way too much, Sheridan Smith for one.

From what I've read here, to I won't bother to try to finish watching.

Good stuff in an offbeat way. It makes me think how we can reinvent ourselves if we wish (although not as far as Becky)
On evenings out I have often given myself another name, or when asked how many children I have, reply “7” just for the fun of it, nothing sinister.
Don’t you think we all get trapped into having one personsa?

Tina49 Thu 10-Feb-22 00:16:28

Urmstongran

Goodness me.

grin

Callistemon21 Wed 09-Feb-22 23:11:26

An old car is fine as long as it's a classic!
That's not.

Urmstongran Wed 09-Feb-22 22:52:41

Goodness me.

Urmstongran

I’m enjoying it though. Ep 5 & 6 tonight for me.
You just have to suspend belief ... it’s not RL ha!
It is getting to be quite the detective story which I’m hooked on. The coat & the money in the hotel cloakroom.
I shan’t spoil it by elaborating as some on here prefer to watch it weekly.

I shall be interested to know what you make of the ending, UG. No spoilers from me. All I’ll say is, make the most of the journey!

usuallyright

Who is Chloe?

?

She is the deceased wife of Elliot, who is hoping to become an MP. And a childhood friend of Becky/Sasha.

I have only watched the first two episodes, as I don’t ‘binge’.

If anyone has watched all episodes, please don’t spoil it for the rest of us.

Urmstongran Wed 09-Feb-22 12:51:49

She does act well doesn’t she? Her accent is good from Bristolian West Country to a bit cut glass when being Sasha. She’s sifting out what she’s discovering anyway!
?

Tina49 Wed 09-Feb-22 12:48:00

Wardrobe and make up do a great job of transforming her (Becky) from council house resident to mixing with the glitterati (Sasha), plus I think she’s a good actress so has the appropriate facial expressions

Bea65 Wed 09-Feb-22 12:12:58

Urmstongran yes her car does not fit with her 'image' and thought her posh friends would at least make a joke about it..

Does it seem odd to anyone else that she has such an ordinary (ie not posh) car whilst kidding those around her that she could (if she chose) afford that very expensive gym membership and fees for the Home where her mum is at present ‘I’ll pay you back El”. Whenever she drives her car it looks odd next to all the expensive ones around her.

usuallyright Wed 09-Feb-22 08:27:57

Who is Chloe?

Jane43 Wed 09-Feb-22 02:56:48

I’ve watched four episodes and am drawn in to the story but in the episode I watched this evening so much that was important to the story took place in the dark and I had to guess what was happening. I find this a growing trend which really infuriates me, it’s the second time it’s happened this week - I started to watch Series 4 of The Sinner on Netflix and the story was just getting started when the lead character who suffers from insomnia went out in the night and something happened but it was so dark I didn’t have a clue what so I have abandoned that series.

Eloethan Tue 08-Feb-22 23:35:58

I think it is very entertaining hokum.

seacliff Tue 08-Feb-22 22:57:18

I've given up. Like with so many programmes these days
