Gorgeous programmes on BBC2 bit of history bit of geography and mostly FOOD. Mouthwatering would be a huge understatement

I have just finished watching last night’s episode on catch up. Although I haven’t time to watch any more episodes just now it automatically went to the next one. Oh my - I could just sit here and watch them all.
What a delightful program. I was also thrilled to see him visit Ischia. We went there 6 years ago and fell in love with the place.

I watched this series last year, it was delightful. Lovely food, scenery and people. Stanley is very charismatic.

I will look for this on catch up. Thanks Lucca
Stanley Tucci is also mouthwatering.

Yes, this is on my bit list now that I've (very sadly) just finished Hope Street on BBC1. Thanks for reminder.

The only thing that turns me off, talking with his mouth full.. Yuk.

A truly lovely programme. I love everything about Italy and this reminds me of the amazing holidays I have had there. Just a joy to watch.

Lovely, lovely programme. Stanley is lovely anyway and the food and the scenery brought back so many memories.

Just watching this on iPlayer. When you say "mouthwatering", are we talking about the lovely food or delectable Stanley? ?

Lucca Tue 01-Mar-22 22:14:40

The food !! The scenery the Italians…I must manage another few trips there

Kate1949 Tue 01-Mar-22 23:30:54

We loved it. We have been lucky enough to visit Italy a few times, including the beautiful Amalfi coast. I love Italy.

What a lovely series really enjoyed it kept saying to my husband I am so hungry!

Just stumbled upon this today, on iplayer- its really good.

Marydoll have you seen it- if not you’ll love it too - watching is like actually being in Italy, enjoying the country and its food.

A feast for the eyes in every sense of the word.

Grandmadinosaur Wed 16-Mar-22 21:53:06

I agree mamaa it is just like being there.

I’m only 2 episodes in but I’ve just read there is a second series coming soon. Brilliant news.

I love it as the scenery is fabulous. Same with the Hairy Bikers. But I get so bored with all the food. Now and again would be okay but there's too much of it.

We had lunch yesterday in Rome in one of the restaurants featured in his programme. I had the same dish as Stanley did and can confirm that it was indeed delicious. winkgrin

Lucca Fri 25-Mar-22 09:51:13

I so long to visit Italy again ?

Kate1949 Fri 25-Mar-22 10:03:21

Me too Lucca. My favourite country.

Just want to reiterate what a lovely series it is. Stanley's Italian background means it isn't just another celeb tourist trip and the whole atmosphere is just so relaxing. And the food is wonderful!

I agree Deedaa it really is.

I haven’t watched any episodes since the 2nd one in Rome so I need to catch up. I did watch last nights mainly set in Florence. Oh my how I adore that city. Been twice and is now on my ever growing list to return to. How lucky was he to spend a year living there as a child?

Deedaa Mon 04-Apr-22 21:20:07

Grandmadinosaur And how lovely that Stanley appreciated how lucky he was as a child. It's so disappointing when people are unimpressed by experiences we'd give our eye teeth for

Grandmadinosaur Tue 05-Apr-22 07:18:53

Absolutely and you could see what an impression it made on him. Understandably so.
