I have watched this and obviously all the safety is in place but I would not dream of doing this.
There are therapy centres springing up, the latest 'in thing'. but,
Manchester woman, 39, dies at Peak District cold water therapy camp used by celebrities.....
she was in a group from Manchester

shock OakDryad.

I have a friend who regularly swims in the sea and says her arthritis is much improved by it.
She always has her husband there too, not swimming, for safety.

Can’t stand being cold so I’ve given it a miss.

Extreme cold is very dangerous. The exhilaration is the short-lived sensation as your body warms up again. Dr Alice Roberts explored this in her programme about wild swimming. Watch from around 18 minutes and see how she can't get out of the pool unassisted.

A mother died recently on one of these challenges. It was in a river. I don't know if she had a pre existing health condition but they are quite dangerous.

Anyone watching this? It's a reality show whereby celebrities undertake various challenges in the cold, supervised by the Ice Man, Wim Hoff. No, I'd never heard of him either! I've only seen two eps so far and they've undergone cold showers, ice baths and a snow machine. All very interesting that extreme cold is very good for you. Being someone who likes the heat I'm not convinced, but I'm thinking of trying a cold shower soon to see how it makes me feel afterwards. These celebs have also opened up about emotional experiences they've had after some strange breathing exercises. Very sad to watch. Good show worth a watch.
