Thank goodness! I am sure their viewing figures have dropped since she took over.
Any suggestions for her replacement?

Parsley3 Thu 05-May-22 14:52:48

Carol Vorderman won’t come back to Countdown as she originally left in a huff about money. I wonder if Ken Bruce would fancy a stint on the telly?

This made me laugh on Twitter ?

Oh yes Owain is lovely. Romesh does The Weakest Link. He's a bit wooden.
There is an interview with Anne Robinson in one of the papers today. It sounds like she wanted everything her own way.

I would like to see that nice Welsh weatherman, Owain Wyn Evans present Countdown, or any quiz programme.

DanniRae Thu 05-May-22 12:24:56

Not Victoria Coren Mitchell or Carol Vorderman - can't stand either of them shock
I think Fern Britton would be a good choice smile

FarNorth Thu 05-May-22 12:13:32

Romesh Ranganathan the comedian has literally just been mentioned,he`s supposed to be a comedian,he`s never made me laugh.

The Countdown presenter isn't meant to be a comedian so maybe he'd be good at that. smile

This thread is a perfect example of how difficult it is to get a presenter who would please everyone.
I like Ms Robinson, don’t want Carol Vordermann, nor Romesh, nor Osman, nor Fry. Equally, not Mel or Sue or anyone else who seems to be on everything.
Victoria Coren-Mitchell is great on Only Connect, and would probably be good on Countdown. Since I can’t suggest anyone else who would do a good job, I’ll just have to wait and see.

Oh please not Carol V.
She`s like horse s..t used to be,everywhere.

If ? Vorderman gets it I may have to set fire to my television

FannyCornforth Thu 05-May-22 10:12:38

I’m very surprised that she lasted that long tbh.
I expect that they threw a ridiculously large amount of money at her.
I can’t imagine that the ratings justified it.

gulligranny Thu 05-May-22 10:11:43

There is a rumour - please let it not be true - that Carol Vorderman is in the running for the presenter job! Nooooo!!!!

Personally I'd like to see Colin Murray, he's witty, warm and bright. Or maybe Jeff Stelling could return, he was good too. But please, not Stephen Fry....

It’s very much a full time job, as there are five shows a week, so there’s a lot of recording.
So I can’t see it be anyone with other commitments - like the lovely Colin.
I’m afraid I don’t think much of Coren-Mitchell (I know that she speaks very highly of me wink)

Fanny
That was the reason she gave for leaving. The time commitment.

timetogo2016 Thu 05-May-22 10:08:45

Good point FarNorth.
That`s got me thinking now.
Boris Johnson and Keir Starmer ?,LOL.

FannyCornforth Thu 05-May-22 10:06:40

I love Chris too. He’d be great.
I was thinking that too FarNorth (are you going to tell me what your little frog is? Other than a frog, of course)

FarNorth Thu 05-May-22 10:04:32

I was just thinking it could be a jobshare timetogo. I don't know who, though, but preferably people who aren't already seen a lot.

timetogo2016 Thu 05-May-22 09:53:14

I read today that sport pundit Chris Kamara was in the running for countdown.
I like him,he has a great sense of humour.
And Colin Murray would be good too.
Maybe they could job share. lol.

Victoria Coren-Mitchell would be good

I agree, if Colin Murray isn’t available.

Don’t you dare criticise Ken, he’s never unkind to anybody, he’s a legend!

Oh no! Don’t get me wrong, I love Ken too!
It’s just the boring banter before Pop Master that gets my goat.

Ken should have to R2 Breakfast Show. Unfortunately he’s just too ‘male, pale and stale’.
I can’t believe Zoe Ball still has it.
Does anyone actually listen?
If so, does she still do that flipping awful ‘Show and Tell’ rubbish?

BlueBelle Thu 05-May-22 07:55:03

Thanks for the weakest link prompt yes words
/names disappear as fast as my money

All these old people being put forward Holmes , Leith, berry all in their 90 s ( sorry I know they re not quite ) and a big NO to Richard Osman another finger in every pie NO to Bradley Walsh gets everywhere like a rash, absolute no to Vodermsn with her face to compete with Anne’s stiff upper lip

Someone with a reasonably pleasant personality but not bland

Parsley3 Thu 05-May-22 07:44:19

Thanks all for providing the name of Anne's predecessor. I liked Colin Murray and wouldn't mind if he takes over .

Grammaretto Wed 04-May-22 21:19:27

Thanks MerylStreep I shall listen to that.
I have always thought Anne Robinson to be a clever and witty. She is funny with the male contestants - not nasty at all.

Georgesgran Wed 04-May-22 20:52:13

Yes - Colin Murray - modest, clever and good humored. Thanks GNs for his name.

Crocus5 Wed 04-May-22 19:42:43

He was there before her . I think he had a good combination of being light hearted but serious when required. I found him to be very refreshing on the programme.
