Thank goodness! I am sure their viewing figures have dropped since she took over.
Any suggestions for her replacement?

Charleygirl5 Tue 03-May-22 11:01:21

Absolutely anybody would be better. She looks totally different since her last plastic surgery- the emphasis being on the word "plastic".

aggie Tue 03-May-22 11:03:04

Just hope whoever takes over is someone who doesn’t Quiz the contestants so much ,

Soroptimum Tue 03-May-22 11:03:06

Ah! My dear mum can watch it again soon then ?

timetogo2016 Tue 03-May-22 11:05:07

Dh and i stopped watching when she took over.
Stephen Fry would be great, but possably too expensive.

FannyCornforth Tue 03-May-22 12:53:13

When Anne Robinson first got the gig, we had a similar thread.
My choices were quite well received.

Paul O’Grady or Liza Tarbuck
Or even better, both together ?

No offence Timetogo, but I’ve seen enough of Fry to last a lifetime!

Has Countdown ever had the presenter/s it deserves?
I wasn’t a fan of Whiteley and ? Vorderman

HousePlantQueen Tue 03-May-22 12:57:38

Thanks heavens she is going, I don't watch it often, but watched it even less since she took the chair. I dislike her sneering attitude and her stiffness. I did like Nick Hewer, thought he had the correct mix of gravitas and kindness.

FannyCornforth Tue 03-May-22 13:09:43

She’s awful isn’t she?
She seems universally unliked!
How do these people get where they are?
There are loads of them too ?

OakDryad Tue 03-May-22 13:09:59

I prefer a presenter with a gentler, more affable less look-at-me style. Fern Britton or someone in that vein? If we have a new female presenter how about a male numbers person?

FannyCornforth Tue 03-May-22 13:10:53

Yes, you’re right Nick was good. I didn’t really watch it when he was on as I was too busy.

Germanshepherdsmum Tue 03-May-22 13:55:06

Perhaps she needs time off for another facelift.

Parsley3 Tue 03-May-22 14:00:48

I quite liked the chap who took over before Ann Robinson was appointed. I can’t remember his name but I am sure someone on here will. I can’t watch her without cringing at her strangulated utterances.

Grammaretto Tue 03-May-22 14:03:38

Am I the only person who enjoys Anne R?
I wasn't sure at first but I warmed to her.
Good on yer Anne for working until you are in your later 70s.
Truly inspiring.
Why, when it's a woman, does everyone criticise her looks!!!
I am shocked at the lot of you. Shame on you.

Kate1949 Tue 03-May-22 14:18:32

I don't care about her looks. She comes across as up herself and insincere.

Parsley3 Tue 03-May-22 14:37:00

I am watching her just now. I don’t think she has settled comfortably into this role. It doesn’t suit her trademark Weakest Link style.

nadateturbe Tue 03-May-22 14:50:06

I quite liked Nick as presenter. I loved Richard Whiteley. I thought he and Carol were great together.

I don't think it's right to comment on Anne's looks. I wish her well. I just think her style isn't suited to Countdown.

I would like a male presenter. Can't think who though.

BlueBelle Tue 03-May-22 15:35:04

Well seeing as the horrible lambasting Katie price has taken for her looks oh here why not a vain, quite vinegary old lady
Like her or loath her I thought she was terrible in this role she wasn’t nearly so bad on 15 to 1 ( was that the name of it? ) so maybe it’s age that’s made her such a poor presenter
I d like to see someone much younger and not someone who appears every time you switch on the TV
Let’s have a new face

FannyCornforth Tue 03-May-22 15:39:59

She was on The Weakest Link BB
I used to love 15 to 1 in the 90s with William G Stewart.
A proper quiz.

nadateturbe Tue 03-May-22 15:52:57

I'd like to see someone presenting who isn't doing other programmes.

joannapiano Tue 03-May-22 16:08:22

She really seems to dislike the male contestants. DH and I will be pleased to see someone else have a go.

nadateturbe Tue 03-May-22 16:25:39

not someone who appears every time you switch on the TV

Agree Bluebelle

Esmay Tue 03-May-22 16:33:20

Let's have someone new and give them a chance .
So I agree with Blue Belle and Nadateturbe .

timetogo2016 Wed 04-May-22 13:45:50

None taken FC.
I read today that Richard Osman is in the running, i still won`t be watching if that`s the case.

Shelflife Wed 04-May-22 13:58:42

Not before time !

Georgesgran Wed 04-May-22 16:41:06

Personally, I don’t think she ever looked comfortable in her role. I believe Romesh Ranganethan is favourite, but I think he might be too ‘lightweight’. I’ve heard Eamon Holmes (God forbid) but I’d like to see Liza Tarbuck, or the chap - can see his face but can’t remember his name - who sat in before Ann Robinson took over.
