Dont get me wrong here, I love watching Bettanys programmes......BUT I cant help but ask why does she wear such low cut tops/dresses? Her boobs almost tumble out !

But despite her attire, she is a fabulous presenter.

O-kay??
Not too sure we're on the same page.
Nevermind lots of things get lost in translation.

Given I'm on here, catching up with the last episode of The Suspect, knitting and trying to have a conversation with my other half, who has taken himself up stairs to bed, feeling unwell.
It's not at all surprising ?

I've strayed too far from the OP. But basically, Neil Oliver has gone completely bonkers. Sorry. ?

Namsnanny

I could see who it was, but didn't have the right glasses on so couldnt be bothered clicking.

Do you need me too?

Prof Robert Bartlett was the presenter of the Norman's MayBee70. Another brilliant series.
I particularly liked his Inside the Medieval Mind.
A psychological investigation of how ideas translated into laws and beliefs in the 11th-15th (ish) century.
Quite useful if applied today actually.

Good scenic views too, but not really as spectacular as say more up to date series.

It was a fascinating series. He seemed so dry compared to the more glamorous presenters but it didn’t take me long to warm to him.

So getting back to Betany Hughes..... I love her history programmes and was looking forward to this series but I do find it a bit indulgent as she visits her favourite restaurants/hotels/shops and meets up with old friends. She's obviously had an interesting life and always looks amazing and I'm very jealous.

W-e-l-l, I could say the program sounds as if its made to make you (the viewer) feel that way.

If it's not instructive or inclusive what's the point?

I was thinking of recording it and moving quickly passed the bits I didnt like. But maybe not.

What I want to know is, who is going to take over from David Attenborough. He's a bit like the late Queen in my eyes. Impossible to replace.grin

She has that va va vroom no doubt about it and she is captivating the way she delivers but i just do not 'get' the need to expose a vast amount of boobs.... the series exploring greece, egypt etc was bad enough with her low cut tops but
blimey, this recent 1, which don't get me wrong, I do enjoy, but I sense a 'push-up' bra has been introduced as well as the many fabulous places she visits.

I can overlook her bosom but have given up on the show as it's so light that it's like watching fluff. I thought it'd be a cultural and historical tour but there's only so much of watching someone ohh and ahh about cappuccino that I can stand.

She's clever and entertaining and has more to offer than this.

Give me Mary Beard any day.

I can overlook her bosom
I'm not sure the producers will be happy about that!

There are times to be fair, when women presenters can't really win.
Mary Beard was called all manner of unkind things about her appearance.

I'd much rather be encouraged to listen to the presenter, instead of being distracted by them.

Funnily, men don't seem to distract the eye, (no matter how attractive they aregrin) as much as women seem to.

Love Bethany Hughes programmes even if
she does look as though she's going to burst out of her clothes in the boob department !

Namsnanny Tue 18-Oct-22 13:19:45

Puts me off. She looks very unprofessional, and a bit desperate.

Andream55 Tue 18-Oct-22 22:54:42

I think she looks fabulous and I envy her confidence in her clothes choices. She's definitely got it so should flaunt it.

I've just googled her and I think for a woman with ample bosom in her 40s/50 ts not exactly playboy magazine
