Yes, we all know it’s rubbish, but Corrie is an institution.

We need to have an active thread at all times.

Doodlebug I ll wait for the answers I don’t know either

Coronation Street has been part of the background to my life. It's a consistent reassuring constituent to my weeks. It's seen me through many ups and downs in life daft though it sometimes is.

Calendargirl Sat 18-Feb-23 07:53:14

Think Brian, as the new, ‘temporary’ lodger, is being very forward, doling out kitchen rotas, inviting his friends for a meal without checking with his ‘roomies’ first, and just generally being a pain in the proverbial.

We are obviously going to be treated to more incarceration scenes involving Max as the latest Corrie resident to be at HM’s pleasure.

And some more topical unpleasant stuff to come apparently, according to spoilers.

Really not needed. I feel like giving up on Corrie, but will stick it out to see Stephen’s (eventual) downfall, we hope.

But there is not much else on, and it’s familiar rubbish.

Grannynannywanny

Did anyone wonder if there was a little chemistry between DeeDee and pathetic Nick?

Possibly. Dee dee has a lot more going for her than Nick though. He is a real wet lettuce.

I hoped Summer would leave, too. Maybe she'll not get into Manchester either. I do wish there wasn't this idea that Oxbridge is the be all and end all, and every other university takes all comers.

I'm pleased that Paul and Billy are together again though.

lemsip Fri 17-Feb-23 21:58:08

I suspect stephen has drugged carla

pinkprincess Fri 17-Feb-23 21:41:31

Now that Summer is going to Manchester we will continue to see more of her miserable face, I did hope she would get into Oxford just to see less of her.

Round two of her studying for the grades. The actor is looking for her old lines 🤣

Calendargirl Fri 17-Feb-23 07:30:58

Only watched Wednesday’s episode last night.

Oh dear, the rubbish with Brian staying in Amy’s flat, and hanging out with her uni friends. As if!

More nonsense at the factory. What on earth was Sarah wearing, BTW? That frilly blouse!

And of course, Manchester Uni now looks like it’s going to be blessed with Summer’s presence, (not ‘Oxford’ though, unfortunately), providing she gets ‘the grades’.

More same old, same old.

We can but hope grin

Aveline Tue 14-Feb-23 17:18:51

Sorry Doodle I think you're overthinking it! It is Corrie after all.
Good idea though. The scriptwriters should be reading GN!

Doodledog Tue 14-Feb-23 16:33:36

Thanks, Aveline, but she took Peter's iPad in exchange. Was that random, or is there something on there that will become important? I was hoping that there would be a film of something incriminating Steven to get him out of the way sooner rather than later grin.

Aveline Tue 14-Feb-23 12:19:19

Doodle the lady who swapped the bike was just wanting to punish her husband who had been playing away. A woman scorned and all that!

Marilla Tue 14-Feb-23 10:20:42

I have stopped watching my beloved Corrie after the scripts became so badly written and scenarios became just plain daft.
I watch Classic Corrie on ITV 2 and love it.
Yes, there are the occasional silly scenarios but the acting and main stories are great.
Blanche, Fred, Norris are in great form at the moment!

Doodledog Tue 14-Feb-23 10:12:48

Aveline

Keep watching Doodle all was revealed.

Last night? Was it? I mustn't have been paying attention grin

Does anyone know what is on Peter's iPad, and who was the woman who was so interested in it?

pinkprincess Mon 13-Feb-23 20:29:08

Carla's voice annoys me as well. I call her Carla the snarler.

Calendargirl Mon 13-Feb-23 20:29:03

Yet again, the Corrie paramedics on the case speedily.

No strikes or staff shortages in Weatherfield.

Plus police on the case of a stolen motorbike pretty damn quick.

I agree the factory is unbelievable. It would have relocated to the far east years ago. The machinists are allowed to chat, drink tea and eat cakes whilst supposedly working with delicate fabrics. No one needs training they all know how to sew . There is seemingly only one overlocker, when anything stretchy like knickers would all be sewn on an overlocker. There are so many admin staff and assistants they fall over each other . The guy negotiating with Sarah and Michael was a complete pantomime villain. Maybe the factory should close and reopen as a foodbank or cannabis farm, or something more reflective of the times we live in.

Rosina Sat 11-Feb-23 18:35:29

I meant Roy and Evelyn - and yes, I do agree about the actor playing Sean's son.

NotTooOld Sat 11-Feb-23 14:48:37

I agree with all the criticism. And surely the body in the box that went in the canal must have been discovered by now?

On a positive note, Sean's son is turning out to be a good little actor, don't you think?

Aveline Sat 11-Feb-23 14:05:14

Max and the racism/ anti immigrants story was pretty spot on. Uncomfortable, but worth presenting on a mainstream soap.

Rosina Sat 11-Feb-23 13:03:44

'Occasionally there are flashes of brilliance, but it is so rare. Roy and Eileen are wonderful together, Leanne is a good actress struggling with dire scripts, but I do wonder how long it can struggle along with such silly storylines, unrealistic and unbeleivable, as one crisis after another is built up and then dropped almost instantly after a few weeks.
