Yes, we all know it’s rubbish, but Corrie is an institution.

We need to have an active thread at all times.

Oh, I'm pleased it's not just me. I thought last night's was awful. The Sean and Laurence story ended so suddenly and matter of factly, didn't it? Sean accused him of planning murder, Laurence was miffed, but not wildly so, and broke off the relationship. Sean looked a bit put out but resigned himself to it all, and Laurence moved out, burning his bridges with Eileen and Todd, too. The End. It's not five minutes since Sean was saying Laurence was the love of his life, and defending him against Todd's allegations.

The factory storyline is ridiculous too. Everything about the factory is ridiculous. Nobody does any work, none of them are qualified in anything, employees come and go, with jobs available when people need them, but when they leave production is unaffected. 90% of the contracts are with dodgy characters, and security is non-existent, so that dippy machinists can break in overnight and use the machines undetected.

Viewing figures are falling for all soaps, apparently. I hope the writers get their acts together to turn it round before Corrie goes the way of Brookside. Something definitely needs to be done.

Aveline Sat 11-Feb-23 11:58:05

Yes. A dud bunch of writers I reckon. That awful potential customer of Sarah and Michael's was ridiculous. Who uses language like that in a business context these days.
Do better Corrie!

Calendargirl Sat 11-Feb-23 09:53:38

Agree Clawdy.

All the nonsense with the factory/ designs, ‘murdering’ Sean, Peter trying to trade a broken tablet, Nick moving back in at home after Leanne and Sam have kicked him out…..

Clawdy Fri 10-Feb-23 22:33:49

Tonight's episode was weird - some very odd dialogue, nothing seemed real. Whoever wrote the script was on something!

lemsip Thu 09-Feb-23 17:56:51

Doll- Rose Campbell who plays Gemma is a very pretty girl in real life

Doodledog Thu 09-Feb-23 17:26:41

Agreed, Clawdy. He's right to be annoyed, but who would let a child order them out of their own house?

Re Lawrence and Sean - is Sean leaving? I don't think they can realistically have another murderer on the cobbles before they've caught Stephen. Well, I say 'realistically'. . . grin

Aveline Thu 09-Feb-23 16:26:35

I've always found Sam irritating.
I don't see how Sean is in danger. There's nothing for Laurence to gain from bumping off Sean

Clawdy Thu 09-Feb-23 16:21:39

I'm finding Sam rather irritating now. He and Leanne ordering Nick out was annoying, not that I'm a Nick fan!

Charleygirl5 Thu 09-Feb-23 08:20:25

I think that Sean should be afraid, very afraid if Lawrence's wife took a nosedive from the top of a cliff. I would not like to see his daft character leave permanently.

Damon will not be locked up forever and he will want revenge.

Grannynannywanny Thu 09-Feb-23 07:45:56

So do we have yet another murderer on the cobbles? Did Lawrence really push his wife off that cliff?? He’s certainly spending a ridiculous amount of time filling in the application for their holiday insurance. The scene last night of him arriving in the pub with the application form then rushing home to amend it was yet more Corrie silliness. In real life it would be a brief online questionnaire not an A4 size form being carried around and taking days to complete.

Aveline Tue 07-Feb-23 14:27:04

Dev did seem to almost tip into something sincere last night when lamenting how Bernie has taken over 'his' special thing/happy place. That rings true.

Charleygirl5 Tue 07-Feb-23 10:35:10

Doodledog let's face it, nobody there is well matched- maybe the closest is Nick and Leanne.

Doodledog Tue 07-Feb-23 09:44:45

The tantrum Dev is mildly amusing, but the Dev/Bernie partnership is ridiculous.

Aveline Tue 07-Feb-23 09:38:27

Drugs and racism stories.

Aveline Tue 07-Feb-23 09:38:03

The comedy is in the juxtaposition of Bernie and golf club 'ladies' but also the effect it has on poor Dev. An interesting deviation from drugs racism!

Calendargirl Tue 07-Feb-23 09:00:02

Don’t think Bernie going off “for a wass” would be quite ‘the thing’ in the Lady Golfers Clubhouse somehow, no matter how great her swing.

And the old Dev would never have been seen accompanying her to such do’s either, being the type always trying to climb up that social ladder.

The whole storyline is just daft, along with most of the others.

I am no Mary Quant, but Michael’s groundbreaking tee shirt design that Sarah was gushing over just looked like any old tee shirt to me.

But then what do I know about high fashion in Corrieworld?

Charleygirl5 Tue 07-Feb-23 08:32:07

She is not earning sufficient money to buy golf clubs, pay course fees etc as it is not a cheap sport.

Beechnut Tue 07-Feb-23 07:47:44

I think she went to play with Dev when his partner let him down and she turned out to be good golfer.

vegansrock Tue 07-Feb-23 07:03:59

What’s going on with Bernie and golf?

Doodledog Mon 06-Feb-23 22:37:00

Oh, how exciting! You must be very proud, and rightly so.

I hope he gets Damon bang to rights smile)

Lizbethann55 Mon 06-Feb-23 22:29:11

Mummy bragging rights ! Chuffed and proud to see my son as the policeman questioning Nick after the shooting. Now rehersing for RSC's upcoming tour of Julius Caesar. One extreme to the other!

Calendargirl Mon 06-Feb-23 20:42:47

Yet again, Weatherfield Police come up trumps!

The phone call to alert them to the shoot out at the Bistro had hardly had time to be received before armed police were bursting onto the scene!

We just needed PC Craigy to be leading the charge…..

That would be fun! I hope it happens, NTO

I agree about Gemma's stylist (and her hairdresser) Aveline, but she really is getting worse. Usually characters come into Corrie as awful and tone down as time goes on (eg the Battersbys - Leanne and Toyah are eminently respectable now, but they were brought in as a 'problem family'). Gemma's gone the other way grin

The girl on the right of the photo looks very much like one of my granddaughters. It is not her though

ninamoore Thu 02-Feb-23 11:51:44

Totally agree; love David’s hair
