Good Morning Thursday 27th May 2026
Soops place of refuge and friends
Yes, we all know it’s rubbish, but Corrie is an institution.
We need to have an active thread at all times.

Probably the factory, the Bistro or the Rovers, like everyone else
.
That was a hopeless episode.
Where does Simon work? Didn’t realise he had left school and in a job.
Why don’t the 3 dads just tell Summer and Aaron to carry on working and save up for their ‘year away’? They’ve only been at work for a few weeks, and now suddenly want to go travelling for a year?
As for that play being staged at the Bistro! More like a Brian Rix farce. And Martha stepping in and her being a pro actress!
It really is a load of tripe isn’t it, but still we watch.
Talking about Norris.
Poor Norris’ funeral, everyone saying how popular he was. There were about a dozen people in attendance!
Yes Rita must be the next in line for her long service. She just pops up for the odd snippet now. I suppose at 89 years old it’s impressive she’s still able for it. She used to sing at any events in the Rovers years ago. I remember it used to irritate my Dad. He’d say “oh here we go again”
I wondered with Glenda’s references to her job on the cruise ship and occasionally she finds an excuse to burst into song if she’s being lined up to be the in-house singer when the need arises.
I don't know what became of it - that's a good point. Did Norris drive off into the sunset in the motorhome?
I hope Ken comes back now and then, as Emily did, even over Zoom. Who will be the longest-serving resident when he goes? Presumably Rita?
I must have too much time on my hands. I was pondering over Mary’s motorhome last night and wondering what happened to it. It’s a few years since it has featured. I seem to recall it was jointly owned by Mary and Norris after winning it in a competition. Or did I just imagine that?
Has Brian got his eye on Mary?
Brian’s partner, can’t remember her name, moved away permanently, had enough of Brian.
Can’t see Ken leaving for good, think William Roache wants to keep his ‘longest serving character in a soap ‘ title, but might pop in now and again?
Haven’t watched last night’s yet, but get the gist.
Why oh why do I watch it it really is dire but I suppose it just shows how bad most of the tv is that I think ‘oh good Monday Corrie’
Ken is going off with ‘what’s it’ to Hull so yes I think his Corrie days are over Mary and Brian are totally over doing the silly play (where’s his wife I thought she just went away temporarily) and the Welsh twit is a poor actor
Summer is a drip complete and utter drip
Stephen is a arse has he got away with the murder completely! No one mentions Leo any more
As for griff and spider I throw my hands up in despair (where’s Toyota licking her wounds? )
Oh it really has gone down and down and down I m hanging on by a thread
At least Summer has come clean to the ghastly couple. Now she has got to think up some way of raising the cash to pay them back - maybe she should ask Stephen for some tips.
Why does undercover Spider have to meet his police contacts in the dark alley at risk of his cover being blown. Would it not be easier to go home and just phone them?
I’ve been trying to think who Griff’s gormless looking sidekicks remind me of and it just came to me this evening. They’re like the hapless baddies in the Home Alone movie.
daniel, reading from a magazine mentioned bethany platt,
wonder if she's coming back. she hasn't done much since leaving has she. ,
I’ve reached the stage I have to fast forward every time Summer and Aaron appear as I find their stupidity too frustrating to watch.
It’s interesting the total character transformations that take place. Amy’s boyfriend Jacob was the local drug dealer and murderer Harvey’s apprentice. Now he’s Mr Nice Guy concerning himself with Summer’s morning sickness tablets and making sure she’s had breakfast.
By Christmas I wonder if Billy will have converted Griff and his sidekicks and they’ll be singing in the church choir.
I'm not sure about the racist plot being 'rammed down our throats'. It's no more prevalent than any of the other storylines, is it? I wish we knew what Spider is supposed to be doing though - he can't be getting a full salary for hanging about in the pub with a motley crew like that. They aren't exactly high-powered, are they? So far they have recruited a disaffected schoolboy and thrown paint on a door. Unless they are panning something spectacular soon, it's all been something of a waste of taxpayers' cash.
Is Ken really going? He's getting on, so if he wants to retire we can hardly blame him, but it won't be the same without him. I thought he'd keep going to the bitter end.
Is anyone enjoying the Summer nonsense?
Murder not nurder!
Anyone else really tired of the racist stuff being rammed down our throats on Corrie? What is Spider waiting for, for goodness sake? It's about time he took some action, not that he looks very Action Man-like, more of a wet fish really, a wet fish with a necklace.
As for Summer and Aaron, well, totally ridiculous story that one. And what is Amy's boyfriend up to? I forget his name. I think he's fallen for soppy Summer and Amy will never forgive him and neither will fearsome Tracey. Nurder will be done!
Ken Barlow's groupies are over acting as usual. The AmDram story drags on with the more-Welsh-than-the-Welsh director hamming it up all over the place. Has anyone else heard that Ken is being written out of Corrie by Christmas? Perhaps he will turn out to be gay and run off with the dentist.
I saw it too dogsmother really good action from Alya if a bit unwise.
The story lines are disjointed, is this still a reaction to Covid infection?
I certainly saw saw it, she was like a Ninja!
Although the story lines are all disjointed and irritating i feel if I wasn’t around to watch them it would be a good time to “ give up” Coronation Street.
Didn't Stephen in the past show an interest in investing in the factory? I know it was probably to rip them off but I can see why Sarah would think he might want to put money in her scheme, I just can't understand why matching adult and child clothes is considered to be so innovative.
And as for Max's video, it is surely far too pathetic to incite anyone to violence. I don't think Netflix will be offering him a career just yet.
but watch hoping for something better
We Corrie GN’ers must be eternal optimists.
I watch when it is on itv at new times and have not missed any of the happenings mentioned.. they were all on the episodes I watched. stephen on the moped, aliya elbowing griff in face! Of course he made it worse by rubbing the little bit of blood all round his face.
stephen ending up in hospital and going back to elaines.
all utter disjointed rubbish but watch hoping for something better.
I too feel I have missed out on certain ‘bits’. I never saw Alya elbow Griff, and I didn’t see Stephen in the moped incident, or Elaine coming to his rescue. Probably because I tend to close my eyes in the adverts, nod off because the storylines are so daft and consequently miss the next half hour or so.
When did Elaine offer him the money? I missed that also.
If all this were real life, and Stephen actually was a wealthy businessman, I think it’s wrong that all the family keep bringing it up and expect him to pay for so much stuff. Why should he?
And surely nobody is expected to pay good money to watch that ridiculous play?
And the Summer/baby debacle is just so, so stupid.
Thank you Doodledog for backing me up a little. I’d never seen that scene before with Griff and Alya but I definitely saw an episode last week where Alya said it was her who’d hurt him and not four assailants. I kept looking for where she’d done that but it was only shown last night. Anyway, I’m obviously worrying too much about this unimportant thing. Maybe I mixed up the episodes on IPlayer? Or I’m going daft!
Sadly Richard O has been in poor health for some time. I met him once back in the '70s and he was delightful. Yes Paula starred with both men in sitcoms. I don't recall that she was a Liver Bird though.
Kate1949 I’d forgotten about the lovely Richard O’Sullivan. I think in my mind I was confusing him with Richard Beckinsale. Another lovely man who sadly died in his 30’s.
I had a Google and here are photos of them both. Yes Doodledog “Elaine” is easily recognisable.
