So have switched onto Netflix - wanted to see for myself what the 'fuss' is all about as many diverse opinions on this couple on here and other social platforms ...as well as the media with 'experts' who state this and that etc etc...

I don’t think Sarah Ferguson is allowed to ‘drop in and out of the RF whilst making money from her own ventures’.

She and Prince Andrew divorced, she was stripped of her ‘HRH’ title, but was then known as Sarah, Duchess of York, because she is still the mother of Beatrice and Eugenie.

Yes, she has her own ways of making money, although she would get a financial settlement when she divorced.

She seemed to be ‘persona non grata’ at many royal events, wasn’t invited to spend Christmas at the main house at Sandringham, but stayed on the estate when her daughters were small, presumably to spend time with them. It seems the Duke of Edinburgh never forgave her, but after his death appeared to be more involved with the family, and attended the Queen’s funeral I believe.

For all her faults, I have never read about Sarah bad mouthing the royal family, unlike Meghan.

Sorry Calendargirl a few misapprehensions. SF may have been left out immediately after the divorce but she has been rehabilitated and spent last Christmas at Windsor with QE and will spend this Christmas at Sandringham with the family.
She was at one point bankrupt but is now worth over a million, made from books,TV and film and Weight Watchers. She lives with Andrew in Royal Lodge gifted to him by the Queen mother. She has undoubtedly traded on her RF connection, but no one mentions her do they? As for bad mouthing she was never cut off completely, no matter how badly she behaved

Harry is 38, Meghan is 41

Young couple? He’s late 30s and she is mid 40s or older possibly. Haven’t hurt anyone? They’ve hurt her father, her step siblings, his family all because she didn’t want anyone to know where she really came from and he because he is jealous of his brother. They are a sad couple. You’d think they’d be happy with their million pound house, friends (?) their children, her mother, their businesses….but no they are vindictive and want what they can’t have: equal billing with William and Kate.

GagaJo Tue 13-Dec-22 15:53:57

So some haters won't watch H&M because they lie. But they will watch M's dad and dodgy sister who were selling stories even before H&M were married? Smacks of hypocrisy to me.

Chestnut Tue 13-Dec-22 15:49:19

Well the Markels will be getting their own back next year when they tell their story on TV. They are working on it. It will be 'their truth' as opposed to H&M's truth which will be interesting.

Smileless2012 Tue 13-Dec-22 15:09:10

They did actually want to remain members of the RF but live independently grin they are members of the RF. Said of by the late Queen to be much loved members. King Charles has also spoken of his love for them while wishing them well in the lives they are making for themselves abroad.

Problem is they're funding their 'independence' by publicly trashing and seeking to undermine the RF and by using their titles, those titles given only because of their link to a family and institution they both appear to despise.

If it was their intention to live independently, why was H so angry/annoyed/upset when his father refused to support them financially, after the the period one year previously agreed upon?

^ young couple who haven't really hurt anyone^shock 'you cannot be serious'. Do you really believe that they haven't hurt H's GM, father, brother, s.i.l., step mother and who knows how many others with their lies?

You say they haven’t really harmed anyone! They harmed the late Queen, Charles and William and Catherine, they also harmed Meghan’s father by humiliating him. That’s just for starters.
People in Britain liked Harry before that, liked Meghan when they were engaged and got married.
They are either damaged people with real issues or weak narcissists or maybe both.Either way there is no coming back for them now after this latest mess.

What a vile post, Gabrielle56 (Tue 13-Dec-22 13:51:01). You have no idea about Gingersnapchap's heritage or race. You have made assumptions here which could be quite offensive. He/she is entitled to have views about our monarchy. God knows there have been many, many posts on here regarding the once leader of their country, Trump.

Joseanne Tue 13-Dec-22 14:54:34

It doesn't mean she expected it to happen.
Well if my best friend were to call me on video link in the middle of the night and whisper,
"Oh my God, Jess. IT'S happening…. Oh my God. He told me not to peek.^
I sure would know what the coded language meant.
No vitriol, just amusing.

Seems about right

Glorianny Tue 13-Dec-22 14:33:57

So if someone proposes to you and you see them setting the scene it couldn't possibly come "out of the blue" you must have known they were going to do it? That's totally illogical. She didn't expect it (so "out of the blue") but she knew he was up to something (he told her to stay inside but she peeked) so she guessed what was happening. It doesn't mean she expected it to happen.

Really these threads show exactly why they had to leave. Nothing but vitriol against a young couple who haven't really harmed anyone and have done a lot of good. Both of them have track records of charitable work and Meghan was involved in charities and activism long before she met Harry.

There seems to be a lot of criticism of them using their RF connections to make money. They did actually want to remain members of the RF but live independently. If you think this can't be done look at Sarah Ferguson, permitted to drop in and out of the RF whilst making money from her own ventures.
If the Firm had just adapted a little perhaps its secrets would never have been made public, but cut loose they understandably feel no obligation to keep quiet.

He did that while she was cooking the chicken.

Or was that the other surprise proposal🤔🤥

Sparklefizz Tue 13-Dec-22 13:02:59

Presumably she didn't notice Harry setting out all those electric candles round the garden and wonder why he was doing that??

Joseanne Tue 13-Dec-22 11:56:17

And here was me thinking the proposal came out of the blue (as far as Meghan was concerned).

At least I thought that was what she said in her engagement interview. ‘Recollections may vary’ however.

hmm

Me too, but the recorded video message heard Meghan saying she took a peak and knew what was coming. Something like, ",this is it, he's going to do it now." She obviously knew or hoped all along.

No Fanny it was a reenactment by Doria.
The same episode showed that Meghan did film Harry proposing though and had a live stream going her friend!
Some people must have their phones glued to them. Moi? Surely not!

Why would you do that? Honestly! How old is she? 14?

Joseanne Tue 13-Dec-22 10:58:33

Actually the proposal was sweet because the dog got down on the floor too. I think it had bad legs at the time! 🐕

Now that really is a porkie.

How come she was being filmed talking to her mum when they first started dating?

Joseanne Tue 13-Dec-22 10:14:22

What was funny was when Meg announced in a whisper down the phone to her mum that she was dating Harry. Doria whispered back "no way" and started talking about him. Now how come mummy knew exactly who Prince Harry was and yet Meghan said she initially knew nothing about him?

eazybee Tue 13-Dec-22 10:06:43

Meghan was interested in Harry because he was rich. She has made it patently clear that she never was the slightest bit interested in the royal family nor in Britain. We saw how she behaved towards her own family in the run-up to the wedding, and should have recognised what she was about from the outset.

Using complaints about a family you affect to despise to gain yet more money is despicable, as is her husband.

Joseanne Tue 13-Dec-22 09:59:13

I really is awful but I imagine gullible young women in their teens and 20s will lap it up and that is probably the target audience.
Ooo eck, yes, my DD2 says she is now warming to Meghan, whatever that means? Time for a family chat here.
