This is the crux of this debacle - people (and the media) making assumptions and using them for fuel for condemning H & M, who have become top of the scapegoat list.

I wonder ..... would anyone consider this to be reasonable behaviour in any other context? If we got wind of a rumour about someone in our village/town, would we condemn them/spread unfounded rumours? I sincerely hope not!

This statement has to be taken in the context of other claims made which are debatable and, with no person, family or aide, able to refute her claims we may never know the truth.

Ironically my ancestor was sent to a Caribbean island to work alongside the slaves there. Although, he had a time served date (15 years I think) which they did not.

Harry was a 36 year old married man with several, several millions left to him both by his mother and great grandmother, more money in fact than most of us could dream of. Meghan had, we believe,5 million pounds of her own money. I can't believe that anyone would expect a father to continue to bankroll their offsprings extravagant life style, or any life style come to that at that stage in their life or with substantial funds of their own! I know I wouldn't!! The wealthy upper class date back to the Norman conquest, I think, when the land that had been owned by the many was taken and given to the few.
And then the sheep enclosures took away even the little the few had, like common land.

Without that ruling class there would have been work aplenty.

I don’t think I agree with that. I don’t know about you, but around this period of history my ancestors were starving, working in the fields all day, and one of them being deported for catching a hare to put in the pot with turnip.

Life was cheap.

Yes, you're right, wrong choice of word, although up until recently over the centuries I think many people benefited, even indirectly, from slavery although they may not have realised it.

I hope he and his descendants managed to make a good lives for themselves wherever he was sent.

One of mine got six months in prison for receiving part of a sheep to feed his family but wasn't deported.

Exactly my thoughts! Many of our ancestors were little more than slaves, free to go but nowhere to go. Living and working in poverty. But without the wealthy white men they would mostly have had no work at all!

I am sure that Meghan and Harry are right and it has been their duty to speak out and call out the racism, both of the individuals and the institution comprising the Royal Family. Then if the royals are genuinely good people with truly noble hearts, they can do something positive about it instead of appealing to the worst instincts of the mob and media. BestPeople have toadied to the royals all their lives so it's not surprising that eg. William, Charles and others are probably not very self aware and require some race education. I wonder if anyone in their circles or employment has suggested it. Maybe not.

I find Charles absolutely disgusting when he complained he isn't a bank. Which super rich loving father denies his child and grandchildren the means to provide proper security? He clearly doesn't love Harry despite his protestations. He hasn't really been a very nice man in his personal relationships if the things he's done/not done are examined but I do respect his environmental work.

Well done to Harry for being a different kind of father and husband, he's no saint but he seems loving and to have his priorities right. He is setting his children a good example and is not just putting up with racism. If he put up with racism, what message would that send to his children?

Quite frankly, I thought this display was disrespectful and distasteful.
