So have switched onto Netflix - wanted to see for myself what the 'fuss' is all about as many diverse opinions on this couple on here and other social platforms ...as well as the media with 'experts' who state this and that etc etc...

Meghan has got all the racism stirred up again, she's vile.

Because nobody would be racist towards her if she kept quiet!

VioletSky Sat 10-Dec-22 23:00:46

Some people did it due to racism and breing disgusting people and some did it because they were disgusting people

But some like that excuse

Will anyone condemn the black African traders and elders of villages who eagerly sold their own people to white slavers.

Anyone with money both here and in other European countries back in the day got involved in plantations and slavery if they could.
It was a long time ago, they did things differently then.

I think many traders were Arabs.

We know now that it was gross Violetsky but that was then. It was abolished 215 years ago.
Well, British involvement was, but it still goes on today.

Read my post.
I said you can post Love This, Like This, or, Not for Me.
Obviously I’m not going to click either of the first 2 so ergo, it’s

Nowhere have I said I watched it.

Oh, do you mean that Jamaica is calling for reparations for all countries.

I can see it can be read that way too.

I wasn't suggesting digging up roads and railways just wanted to put the historical facts on the association of the royal family with slavery. This is why William and Kates tour of Jamaica wasn't a success because the country are calling for reperation for generations who had family stolen and put into slavery.

Not an argument, a genuine enquiry.

I’m a bit confused as to why Jamaica should receive reparations and not the African countries that people were taken from.

Why should Charles provide money for Harry. He has millions of his own left to him by Diana .the Queen mother,,and now probably by the Queen
These 2 make.me sick.Meghan has got all the racism stirred up again, she's vile.Harry even banned his friends from his wedding reception because they too suggested he was rushing into this marriage.she has had arguments with his friends so they don't bother with him anymore
He asked Diana's sister's if they thought she was very like Diana and they said no,he didn't like that either,
He is imagining this because Meghan had made sure she copied things Diana did and said, she's messing with his head.
If he had mental problems before. He will have worse by the time she had finished brainwashing him
She has disowned her own famoly.now she wants him to have nothing to do with his
A narcissist if ever there was one

Good heavens you really feel bitter and angry. Unbelievable.
Another qualified psychiatrist I see.

All our ancestors are culpable.

True but some became very wealthy and still won't acknowledge their connection with slavery

Daisymae Sat 10-Dec-22 21:45:34

They really need to move on. It's getting boring and embarrassing. I am hoping that they stay in America for good but I expect that they will need to come over every other year and take umbrage at something or other.

It is difficult to estimate just how much of the current royal family wealth is owed to slavery but it is understood that the profits of the slave trade funded the treasury, many British industries ,buildings ,roads and railways

Yes.

We should dig up the roads, the railways, demolish all buildings we might use which were built using money from the slave trade.

It's not enough to change the names of these buildings, they need to be eradicated.

In the third episode is was inferred that the RF were racists and some of their money was gained through slavery.
Therefore, will H give back the inheritance given to him from his great-grandmother and refuse any from his grandmother’s?

Historically the royal family has links with the slave trade back to the 16th century when Elizabeth 1 funded the first ship to transport enslaved slaves. In 1660 the Royal African Company was established by the Duke of York who later became James 2. Many of the slaves were branded with DY standing for duke of York.
Between 1690 and 1807 an estimated 6 million enslaved Africans were transported from Africa to America on British or Anglo American ships. The slave trade was protected by the royal family and parliament.
It is difficult to estimate just how much of the current royal family wealth is owed to slavery but it is understood that the profits of the slave trade funded the treasury, many British industries ,buildings ,roads and railways.

Well all of the should hand back the money if it was gained through slavery including Charles.

I don’t know about that but you have the option to Like this, Love this, or, Not for me.

I’ve been scrolling through putting film on my watch list. Every once in a while I clicked onto that video and clicked 👎

Judging by the response from around the world I don’t think M&H will be getting all the money. They haven’t been paid the whole amount yet.

So you're you going to mark down a programme you haven't watched. I did watch it and they don't moan about the RF, just the media.

For me it has nothing to do with race. She’s just not likeable.

Whereas her mother looks immensely likeable.

Dignified, lovely and the kind of woman who would be a good friend.

I can only go by appearances, of course.

Do agree that M largely brought the race issue upon herself by harping on it all the time. Few people otherwise would have noticed or cared.

That's a terrible thing to say.

Coco51 Sat 10-Dec-22 19:49:52

Nothing to do with xenophobia. The problem they have is that they keep harping on about racism for justified criticism. Race has nothing to do with it. She wanted to be queen bee and they both keep throwing their toys out of the pram because no-one recognised what a ’gift’ she was to the Royal family, and how she was single-handedly going to show how traditions going back more than 1000 years should be swept aside. Of course, if the private members bill to remove the duke and duchess titles are passed it won’t be because they are doing their best to trash the monarchy that has provided all of the privileges they enjoy - it will be because she is ’black’. I’d be interested to see how useful Harry would be to her without the title - not for long I suspect. Let’s face it, there’s nothing new in what they say, just rehashed grievances which contradict the previous versions. And fake photographs purporting to show media harrassment - only trouble is the scrum of photographers were shooting pictures of Katie Price outside court in Manchester, and a pre arranged session at a film premiere.
