So have switched onto Netflix - wanted to see for myself what the 'fuss' is all about as many diverse opinions on this couple on here and other social platforms ...as well as the media with 'experts' who state this and that etc etc...

I'll probably watch both at some point

I don't get picking a side on this one without giving everyone a listen

So some haters won't watch H&M because they lie. But they will watch M's dad and dodgy sister who were selling stories even before H&M were married? Smacks of hypocrisy to me.

Who are these people you're referring to? We don't know who is watching either surely. You have just invented an imaginary slur to no-one in particular. 🙄

As for bad mouthing she was never cut off completely, no matter how badly she behaved

Who is saying Meghan and Harry have been cut off completely? Charles spoke of them with love and affection in his first speech as King.

Sarah didn't make films and give interviews intended to trash the reputations the rest of the family; she always maintained a cordial relationship with the Queen, if not Philip.

Harry and Meghan are happy together and with their own family. Just go and live your life and leave the RF alone.

Get real jobs!!! Move on!

Do not come back!!

Fergie was likeable and "one of them". A glorious gallumping aristocratic gel. But don't forget she was mocked by the tabloids. Remember "Duchess of Pork".
Unfortunately, MM is just not really likeable; especially by women who look behind face and figure. The biggest crits. come from women reporters.

Yes, I knew Sarah had been ‘rehabilitated’, which is why I mentioned that things improved after Philip died. She’s lived in Royal Lodge with Andrew for ages, and went riding and dog walking with the Queen.

I admired her for clearing her debts with Weight Watchers etc. but she blotted her copy book with the scam with the fake journalist trying to get access to Andrew.

Despite all this, she hasn’t caused the RF anything like the grief that H&M have.

But she was never actively rejected by the RF was she? She wasn't given the option "stay in and behave" or "get out and lose everything" was she? Her children had personal security officers until they were adults. Perhaps if H&M had been permitted to retain some connection they wouldn't have spilled the beans but they weren't.
I think the RF imagined H would behave like the D.of Windsor and live quietly somewhere out of the spotlight, but they got it so wrong.

Her children had personal security officers until they were adults

Nothing to do with Sarah, that was because Andrew kicked up such a fuss about it.

Smileless2012 Tue 13-Dec-22 23:21:37

H & M knew what would happen if they ceased to be working members of the RF. They were given a year to see if it was what they really wanted, and if not were free to return.

They have their Duke and Duchess titles; how much connection were they expecting to retain? If they've made up stories' spilled the beans because they haven't been permitted to retain as big a connection as they thought they deserved some connection; then that simply shows that what they're doing is being done out of spite.

The backlash from rightwing politicians and media against Harry and Meghan’s documentary amply proves their point.

MEEagain was never going to live anywhere quietly, too fond of a camera lens and her own publicity

Meanwhile, back in the Cambridges' camp, the Christmas card is here. I don't understand why it is never, well you know, Christmassey! 🎄 🎄 🎄

Joseanne Wed 14-Dec-22 07:12:51

Here

Calendargirl Wed 14-Dec-22 07:17:49

Have we seen H&M’s card yet?

Views of backs of heads no doubt.

I agree, a Christmassy scene would be nice.

nanna8 Wed 14-Dec-22 07:30:45

And I thought H and M was a cheap clothes store for teenagers.

Chestnut Wed 14-Dec-22 09:03:12

I guess a Chrismassy card would involve fake snow and santa hats in the middle of summer because they prepare them ages in advance.

FannyCornforth Wed 14-Dec-22 09:05:41

Thank you Joseanne
It’s rather an odd card.
I would have gone for something more autumnal at least.

I hope that Harry has some shoes on this time

Sarah Ferguson was rejected by the royal family; she lost HRH and didn't appear at public events for a long time, if ever. She wasn't given any choice, and received a very small settlement, £15.000 I believe. She didn't participate in the Christmas festivities, even though she did stay on the Estate, and when one thinks what was going on with Charles and Diana at a similar time, it seems too punitive. Yet she has never complained publicly.

^Her children had personal security officers until they were adults^

And you don't think it's possible that Sarah actually gave him the idea? A self indulgent male doesn't usually push for things for others unless he is pushed.
Of course H&M were just told "No way".

I think there are some interesting points raised in this documentary, particularly David Olusoga's ideas that
1. The British press is not only owned by white men it employs mostly white people.
2. That 70 years of the Commonwealth have continued exploitation like the British Empire, and countries which were impoverished remain impoverished, whilst we continue to leech from them their resources. Only the type of resource has changed and these days we take their qualified people not their minerals.

Lathyrus Wed 14-Dec-22 10:16:15

And yet countries are still eager to join the Commonwealth. Gabon and Togo this year.

They must see it as an organisation that’s beneficial.

Why doesn't the photo come with this????
Anyone notice that Louis is not holding Charlotte's hand and Katherine seems to have him gripped firmly round the wrist??
Troublemaker????

FannyCornforth Wed 14-Dec-22 10:19:30

It looks to me that Catherine is holding Louis’ hand.
I don’t think that I understand your point

Well, to me it looks like a lovely photo of a happy, united family group.

And it’s Catherine with a ‘C’, not a ‘K’.
