So have switched onto Netflix - wanted to see for myself what the 'fuss' is all about as many diverse opinions on this couple on here and other social platforms ...as well as the media with 'experts' who state this and that etc etc...

Bea65 Fri 16-Dec-22 08:21:17

After viewing all 6 hrs of this docu-series yes I do feel that it was a little tedious at times and self serving to the couple's benefit...and think someone already mentioned that it felt like a counselling/therapy session but, their over sharing of emotions and comments about the RF have dismayed me as do like them as a couple. Harry seems so bitter and feel he is hurting on the inside -now hear that his brother, William, is appealing for Togetherness.- that is what is needed to heal this awful rift Charles should contact his son, Harry, and have a good father to son chat!

Jaffacake2 Fri 16-Dec-22 08:24:13

I have now watched 5 episodes and my feelings have changed from feeling sorry for Harry and Meghan to being irritated that they are unaware of the privileged life they lead. Yes there have been intrusions from the press and some racism through media but they have highlighted this and it has been acknowledged by the public. But people everywhere deal with bullying ,discrimination and problems in their lives. Yet we don't have millions of pounds to help as a buffer.
They say they fight for human rights but seem to lack insight into how fortunate their lives are especially at a time of financial hardship and poverty for large sections of society.

Joseanne Fri 16-Dec-22 08:25:07

You're not wrong there TerriBull. Harry made some unpleasant comment that when the argument erupted between him and his father and brother about leaving, The Queen just sat there silently looking on and didnt take his side . What did he expect the poor lady to do? I'm guessing she was too devastated to get any words out.
And this after Meghan was saying all the cheesy stuff, that The Queen once shared her blanket with her in the car, and how nice it was to have a grandma because she missed her own.

Ever thought of writing for the movies Joseanne? You have a great imagination.

Where did all this "she just couldn't get the words out" come from?

LRavenscroft Fri 16-Dec-22 08:33:23

I still can't get over the fact that they seem to want to 'stir it all up' just before and during important events. I was brought up to respect the older generation and all we can see is their interview with Oprah when the Duke of Edenborough was very ill and now just after the Queen's death when they know that the Royal Family and especially King Charles have had to face the death of one of the most amazing monarchs in living history. Why must Meghan Sparkle and wingman Harry have to spoil what is one of the most moving years of the nation's history together with the wars, poverty and ecocide we are facing as a world. Beyond belief!

Thanks, check it out volver ^I'm guessing she couldn't get the words out", guessing, speculating, imagining!
Actually I have written a few little books in my time. The miost successful was sbout a cat who didn't want to go and live in France and ran away the morning of the ferry. My cat, my story, but with a sprinkle of imagination, I was guessing he wasn't too keen to wear a beret and eat French cat food!

Yes indeed. Press officers and PR people are often there to create an image of public person that isn't really true. Quite often the easily led think that the image actually represents the real person. They might believe a person came up with a clever comment when they didn't come up with it at all.

Not saying that's the case here, of course...

well, you are certainly one of the easily lead volver just in the way you jump back at so many posts accross the board,

Calendargirl Fri 16-Dec-22 08:47:32

Whilst William was ‘shouting and screaming’ at poor, terrified Harry, and Charles was saying things ‘just not true’, what was the Queen doing?

Sitting there quietly, taking it all in, it seems.

But as Harry finally, (reluctantly) acknowledged, the end result was that she put ‘the job’ first and foremost, as she has done all her life.

H&M have not got over the fact that their plan for a half in, half out Royal life, which is what I assume they really wanted, and they thought the Palace and the Family would roll over and meekly acquiesce to, just didn’t work out according to their calculations.

Hence all this subsequent hoo haa.

I’m 5 in and astonished, what an entitled pair.
Nottingham Cottage, a beautiful albeit small cottage within the grounds of KP.
They clearly felt they deserved much grander quarters,Kate and William were very happy to live there!

They have not addressed the issue of staff bullying and I notice M has not bleated on about being held captive as she did on the Oprah interview.
I suspect that was all a fabrication.

It’s gone too far now, I don’t think they deserve to recover from this.

Lathyrus Fri 16-Dec-22 08:56:23

You can’t really say you were held captive and show footage of your baby shower in America at the same time. I expect they’ve forgotten she ever said it.

Did anyone notice probably not !! that all the stuff at the baby shower was pink? The flowers, the cake, the decorations etc. Maybe someone got the wrong memo!

It does concern me how much people read one thing and blow it up into something else entirely that suits their agenda. It confirms how some people believe things they are told about strikers, the EU, whatever....

Meghan had her passport taken off her and someone else got her through security etc. For 30-odd years she had been responsible for herself, now someone she didn't know (probably) was holding her passport and controlling her movements through the airport.

So she wasn't "held captive", whatever words people want to put in her mouth.

It seems one can make up any old toot as long as it reflects negatively on Meghan but reinforces the late Queen as a paragon of...well, everything really...

volver Fri 16-Dec-22 09:10:03

Joseanne - my cats loved French cat food! Never got anywhere with the berets though...

Congratulations on your book's success!

Lathyrus Fri 16-Dec-22 09:13:28

Guess you and Meghan have both forgotten what she said😬

volver Fri 16-Dec-22 09:15:47

Yes, I've probably forgotten. Maybe I never knew. Maybe I was just interpreting things differently.

But you know, we're all making things up that support our beliefs so I thought I'd just join in.

Joseanne Fri 16-Dec-22 09:18:56

Talking about literary styles of expression then, literary or spoken, and chosen language and vocabulary, isn’t it the way she Meghan employs words though ,*,Volver*? Why not say, "Someone else carried my passport", not it was taken off or withheld.
I heard the same sort of thing in episode 4 when she said Frogmore House was where she had her first baby. Cleverly worded to make it sound like the delivery happened there after all the stuff about not wanting a hospital birth).
It's in the nuances I think.

MerylStreep Fri 16-Dec-22 09:19:13

My OH is going to contact Netflix and ask if they’ll do a documentary on the torture his 2 elder brothers inflicted on him 😄

Joseanne Fri 16-Dec-22 09:20:15

Yes indeed Joseanne. Meghan is probably using the media to get her chosen message across. Clever girl.

But try saying that Charles, William and the late Queen were doing the same, and maybe relying on a PR organisation to maintain their images?

"Treason!" will be the cry. They are perfect! They are incorruptible! We are so lucky to have them and they are beyond criticism! Vitriol! Bile!

Grant and Phil spring to mind! (The Mitchell bros for those who don't watch EE).

PREDICTION
This time next year H and M will have used up all their ammunition.
The RF will carry on as normal.
H and M will be searching for more slights.
They will be old news.

Any more predictions ?

Joseanne Fri 16-Dec-22 09:35:19

Prediction

By next year the dog will have mastered the art of stealing Harry's chicken. It will be locked up.

dragonfly46 Fri 16-Dec-22 09:38:58

I hope you are right NanKate.

Calendargirl Fri 16-Dec-22 09:43:51

Well, I for one would be quite happy for someone else to look after my passport, sort out tedious travel details, get me through security at airports, show me to my (first class?) seat, bring me a glass of champagne… oh, probably not, it was my baby shower I was going to after all.
