Just that really...such an interesting lively/hot threaded debate shock..smile

Glorianny Sun 18-Dec-22 10:37:36

I must have missed the "frenzy" or perhaps my definition is a bit nearer the truth. But I forgot no Royal must show any emotion- Oh hang on! what happened when Harry's dad was signing something a bit ago???? Was that a frenzy as well?

Calendargirl Sun 18-Dec-22 11:02:14

No, it wasn’t a ‘frenzy’ Glorianny.

It was Charles being p….d off because his pen either didn’t work or was leaking over important documents, a day or so after his mother died and he became King, and the signing of whatever was being televised to the world.

His P/A /secretary/right hand man should have ensured everything was tickety-boo.

I bet his consort had to do a bit of consoling.

Grany Sun 18-Dec-22 11:08:58

Camila held private party for people who support the royals.

Clarkson who wrote a vile rant about Meghan which the Sun printed, invited and Piers who also rants, a royalist, in 2018 he said Meghan Joining RF is a racist institution

Bea65 Sun 18-Dec-22 11:22:34

Grany the two men you mentioned are disgusting IMO and cannot bear to see/hear their views ..never liked either of them!

merlotgran Sun 18-Dec-22 11:25:37

I don’t think Camilla ‘held’ the party. It was a private affair hosted by the former head of Fortnum and Mason and she was an invited guest.

It's Camilla's Christmas party when the press want you to think it is, then somebody else's responsibility when it turns out to be a bit controversial.

Why can people not see how the public are being manipulated by the press?

Washerwoman Sun 18-Dec-22 15:39:49

Also at that party were Dames Maggie Smith and Judi Dench ,Hugh Boneville etc. Loads of other people. If she was invited yet didn't arrange it and invite the guests where does that leave things?Should she check in with GN first to see if they approve of the guest list ?

Was it a showbiz party?

Callistemon21 Sun 18-Dec-22 15:47:00

the star-studded bash at the Murano restaurant in Mayfair on Wednesday, hosted by Ewan Venters

Ooh, goodness, Tracey Enim, Judi Dench, Maureen Lipman, Maggie Smith et al - what were you thinking 😲

Should she check in with GN first to see if they approve of the guest list ?

Certainly!!! They all should have asked permission first.

MerylStreep Sun 18-Dec-22 15:55:51

Camilla has spirit. Inviting those two was a signal to her estranged in-laws 😄

volver Sun 18-Dec-22 16:02:51

Look. Was it her party or not?

(Clue: it wasn't. You can't have it both ways.)

Callistemon21 Sun 18-Dec-22 16:07:27

Was it Camilla's party or Ewan's party?

confused

The things you'd never know about if you didn't look at Gransnet!
It's so enlightening 😀

If I had to go to a party where both Piers Morgan and Jeremy Clarkson were invited I'd wonder where on earth I'd gone wrong in my life choices.
I mean one might be considered unfortunate, but both of them signifies complete catastrophe.

Couldn't agree more.

But if Dame Judi Dench, Dame Maggie Smith, Hugh Bonneville, Maureen Lipman and others were there would you still be questioning your life choices?

I wouldn't.
There are ways of dealing with the Jeremy Clarksons and Piers Morgans of the world without flouncing out in disgust or refusing to go.

As Aveline said: Try 'grey rocking' if you must react at all.

Smileless2012 Sun 18-Dec-22 20:19:42

I wouldn't care who else was in attendance if Dame Judi Dench and Dame Maggie Smith were there.

Callistemon21 Sun 18-Dec-22 20:28:54

I'd like to chat with Maureen Lipman.
And Hugh Bonneville, of course.

Chestnut Mon 19-Dec-22 00:12:14

Well I'd like to chat to all of them. I'm not a social snob. If you could get a word in that is. They are not really noted for their listening skills, especially with so many starry guests there 😉

Rosie51 Mon 19-Dec-22 00:23:52

Who knew Dame Judi Dench, Dame Maggie Smith, Hugh Bonneville, Maureen Lipman et al were beyond the pale? They must be because they were at the same lunch. To the tower with the lot of them!!!

Haha!

I'd have loved to have been there. Lots of jolly interesting folk to talk to. Or listen to.

Marvellous fun.

Harris27 Mon 19-Dec-22 00:32:57

Haven’t watched it but tempted. But I’m a royalist and know it’ll upset me. Can’t decide.

Nooooo! You have to check out all the other invited guests, otherwise...... you might find yourself exposed to opposing views rather than be safely bubbled in your protective echo chamber. grin

Joseanne Mon 19-Dec-22 01:02:03

I've heard Camilla likes Strictly, so she probably questioned Tess and Claudia as to whether the voting is fixed.

biglouis Mon 19-Dec-22 01:07:07

It gave us some useful information on how things are at the palace behind the scenes, and the level of competition between the offices who represent various principals.

For example if A is getting married, then B and C are not allowed to announce their pregnancy on the same day as it might detract from the "shine" of what has been designated the main event. There is a lot of bitching, bickering and back biting between various royals and their courtiers. This despite the fact that they like to present a united front.

However the series was over long and very very boring in parts. 3 espisodes would have been more than sufficient.

eazybee Mon 19-Dec-22 10:28:31

No, Biglouis, nothing to do with rival offices, it is upbringing, or more simply, manners.

You do not attempt to upstage a newly married couple at their wedding breakfast by announcing your pregnancy, thus diverting attention to yourself. I was a pregnant bridesmaid to my sister in law, and only the immediate family knew; we would not have dreamt of drawing attention to it on their day.
