Just that really...such an interesting lively/hot threaded debate shock..smile

Yes, it's dangerous and complicated.

There was an interesting piece, in episode 5 I think it was, where H & M spoke about an occasion at The Royal Albert Hall that all the family attended. The next morning every newspaper, including broadsheets, had a photo of Meghan. It caused Meghan to burst into tears and Harry to go off on one about his mother.
But think about it .......
Meghan looked beautiful, far more so than the other fuddy duddies
She had just announced her pregnancy and people were delighted
She was the new kid on the block
Remembrance photos of the others get boring year on year out
And so on.
So there was a justifiable reason for this. Instead, M & H turned it round in anger and put the blame on other family members for being jealous that the new couple were doing the job better. I'm not sure they were thinking that clearly.

I can manage about 10 minutes at a time It's boring. Disappointing, because I'm interested.

Exactly how I feel. I think it was made for American audiences.

😃
So why come on and (in the other thread) comment about those who have the stamina to watch all 6 episodes in their entirity?

merlotgran Sat 17-Dec-22 10:12:02

The Gransnetter who commented that Suits will want Meghan back now she’s improved her acting skills was spot on.

By episode six it was reaching Oscar winning standards.

Paddyanne, the Windsors are glorious entertainment but I wonder if it's right to be entertained by others' troubles, even when they are well paid for it.

Entertainment apart, do you think having a royal family helps to maintain the present class system? If the Windsors all took to speaking Glaswegian all the time, doing their own housework , ans sending their children to the comprehensive school would we still be fascinated?

That sounds like the plot of ‘The Queen and I’ by Sue Townsend.
Except that they were relocated to Leicester, not Glasgow

Leicester would be a better choice, FannyCornforth

Come the next IndyRef, they would risk being deported from Glasgow.

Joseanne Sat 17-Dec-22 10:14:57

But her acting is very one trip poney though merlotgran.

What a pleasant change to read a post like yours Mattsmum2.

Dickens makes my point neatly - the people who complain loudly about H and M in the media spotlight seem to devour every thing written about them. Well, everything unkind and negative that is.

The DM prints pages, all aimed at criticising them. I find the constant portrayals of saint Kat -v- Cruella Meghan particularly unpleasant.

I think one problem could be that people in the entertainment industry may well read reviews of their performance.

Perhaps it's an unwritten rule in the Royal Family that they do not read the rubbish that is written about them in the media. That way could lie untold misery.

I did wonder if Meghan had made the mistake of reading some of these articles, in particular when she was so distressed just before that appearance at the Royal Albert Hall.

So don't you think that after this focus on Meghan there were negative comments made? I can imagine lots of them. The RF didn't like Diana hogging the headlines and they wouldn't like Meghan doing it. Add to that the various press offices wanting their royal to be front page and the atmosphere would be toxic. The RF might just complain and forget it, but the press offices would be busy behind the scenes trying to get even.

Like 99% of the comments on the RF, isn’t this just speculation? .

I think some Gransnetters are Royal Press Officers.

Callistemon21 Sat 17-Dec-22 11:03:09

Or work for Netflix.

Does that mean we can now stop calling her a third rate actress who couldn't make it in Hollywood?

We've been questioned about our powers of imagination already Gloiranny, best not to!

Maw makes a good point. And of course we will never hear how it actually feels for the royals themselves, so all very one sided.

Grany Sun 18-Dec-22 09:49:19

So William shouted at Harry because Will loves being “royal” all the power prestige and of course the £20million he gets given. He don’t want Harry Meghan to want something different their own path. Britain just needs one Head of State who’s primary role is to uphold the laws of our constitution, but royal family don’t do that so no wonder the country is in the state it’s in is it?
All the many grand houses castles RF get to choose to live in about twenty these could be turned into world class heritage sites bringing in masses of tourists

Joseanne Sun 18-Dec-22 09:56:04

William shouted at Harry because Will loves being “royal”
I'm intrigued Grany, do you have a transcript of the shouting to know that?
Did anyone actually see the text from William that sent Harry into a frenzy?

volver Sun 18-Dec-22 09:59:54

Now I don't want to be accused of stalking, I've had enough of that. But I'm here, so I'll just say this.

When you are asking someone for proof of what they are saying, its best not to exaggerate and embellish what you are saying yourself.

In what imagined parallel universe did Harry go into a frenzy?!?!?!

confused 😾

Joseanne Sun 18-Dec-22 10:16:27

In what imagined parallel universe did Harry go into a frenzy?
Did you watch it Volver?
Enough of a frenzy for him to throw out his arms, go a reddish colour, and for his wife to jump up from her chair, throw her arms around him and suggest they needed a walk to get some fresh air!
She no doubt recognises a volcano about to erupt when she sees one. But maybe it was all it was just acting anyway, what does anyone know?

volver Sun 18-Dec-22 10:17:45

Course I didn't watch it.

Rather stick pins in my eyes.

Miaow.

Joseanne Sun 18-Dec-22 10:21:18

So then "frenzy" might just be what it looked like? As you can't verify the contrary.

volver Sun 18-Dec-22 10:25:00

Can't see what it looked like.

Got pins in my eyes.
