Anyone else watch this?

Started on Channel 5 last night, carries on the next 3 evenings.

Set in Australia, husband disappears when out surfing, presumed drowned, new wife, both have troubled past family history.

It reminds me of another Aussie four nighter, a while ago, ‘Lie With Me’, in fact I thought it was the same actress playing the main part, but it’s not.

Shall keep watching as not much else on, but think it will turn out the usual damp squib.

I plan to start watching it this afternoon as there's nothing else.

I persevered with Treason on Netflix which was fairly good. I enjoyed the storyline although there were some gaping holes eg. the Head of MI6 discussing in the back of a taxi what he's going to do about a crisis.

I watched Riptide on tv last night and liked it enough to watch the second episode tonight. So let's hope it stays interesting and does not tail off like some series do.

It could be any one of them! Interesting.

I’ll stick with it but as psychological thrillers go it hasn’t exactly got me excited about the next episode.

Poppyred Wed 28-Dec-22 11:57:45

Forgot about it! I’ll watch this afternoon.

Yes, watched last night & will continue to watch all episodes. It is good but only average. Nice to see Australian way of life, lovely beaches, and the accent. Just close your eyes & imagine being there.

I'll watch the 2nd instalment, my husband after 20 minutes or so last night took himself off with a "this is rubbish I can't watch any more" he's probably right but sometimes I enjoy non taxing rubbish blush

It was ok till two ‘Neighbours’ actors appeared which I found confused me, I’ll watch another episode but might call it day after that.

Joseanne Wed 28-Dec-22 14:01:39

I remember Shane Ramsay, he hasn't aged very well.
Who were the others, I'm off to check?

The chap playing Alison’s ex husband is Jacob’s dad, Damon, brother to Harvey, in Corrie at the moment.

The neighbour Dan used to be the gay son in A Place To Call Home.

The reason that Riptide looks so similar to Lie with me is because they were both written by the same person, Jason Herbison

Watched it and may persevere but it didn’t hold interest here, guess it could get better as it goes along.

merlotgran Wed 28-Dec-22 23:02:51

It improved tonight so I’ll stick with it.

Yes, I thought it looked ok last night.

However, I closed my eyes in one of the ad breaks, saw the daughter find the watch in her dad’s bathroom. What excuse did he give for having it? I must have nodded off in that bit.

Wyllow3 Thu 29-Dec-22 07:31:16

The first one, very average...did it get better?

tanith Thu 29-Dec-22 08:15:39

Calendargirl he said he was walking on the beach and saw the watch on a surfers towel and took it.
I thought it was better last night.

toscalily Thu 29-Dec-22 09:05:44

We watched the first two episodes back to back, first one was a bit slow, the 2nd had a few interesting moments but it's not exactly riveting. We will probably watch the last two, they are not so long when you record and can fast forward through all the adverts. I never watched neighbours so did not recognise anyone except the main character (blonde lady), what else has she been in?

TerriBull Thu 29-Dec-22 09:13:50

My husband popped his head round the door last night with a "still sticking with that load of rubbish are you?" well only partly because I drifted off, so I may have to go to 5 Catch Up. Yeah it's a load of drivel but I've started so I'll continue.

tanith Thu 29-Dec-22 09:18:50

toscalily that’s Jo Joyner I remember her as Tanya in Eastenders she was in Dr Who too at some point.

He said he found it on a towel on the beach. He drives to that beach because he likes to feel close to his ex family.

I think the body that was being dug up is that of the neighbour's wife who died. He keeps saying she died of cancer but when Alison probed and asked about it he didn't come up with much, other than ovarian. I think he murdered his wife but not Alison's husband.

Yes, it's the sort of thing you need to stick with I think.

Joseanne Thu 29-Dec-22 10:26:39

Oops sorry tanith, I was commenting in chronological order and hadn't got to your post!

Ro60 Thu 29-Dec-22 11:42:33

Watching it, but there are so many dark haired men I'm getting confused.
