I could cry, he’s moving on, leaving radio 2. He’s the only one I listen too now. I can’t listen to the screeching women or the patronising Vine, Scott Mills doesn’t do it for me. So, radio 2 won’t come to this house anymore after March. Very sad.

I am soooooooooo sorry he is going.! I shall not listen to Radio 2 as Zoe is all ' Iconic! Amazing!, breathy - hmm ...... Jeremy Vine has some silly topics on some days! Scott Mills is not Steve Wright by a mile - and Lisa Tarbuck really doesn't appeal to me at all.!
I shall be looking for a new morning radio station - - - -

Unfortunately (or not) I don’t have a tv in kitchen which is where I listen to the radio. Thanks

Get an Alexa device for less than £30 and ask her to play whever station you want.

Google hub should do that, but doesn’t seem to want to

I've listened to Kermode and Mayo for years and always loved the "Confessions" podcast when it was on the BBC, but Greatest Hits radio is not available in my country.

Fortunately I can get Radio 3, and I love Cerys on 6Music on Sunday mornings. I've never listened to Radio 2 and don't know who Ken Bruce is.

Ken is moving to Greatest Hits Radio, where you’ll also find my favourite Simon Mayo. He’s taking Popmaster with him so it will essentially be the same show. Think he starts beginning of April but you can google it.

HannahLoisLuke Thu 19-Jan-23 11:31:53

I agree. Rylan gets on my nerves and he is everywhere.

I feel very much the same. Have listened to Ken for such a long time it will certainly be the 'end of an era'.
I know he's moving to Greatest Huts Radio and taking Popmaster with him so I'll definitely give it a listen, cone April. Whether the constant adverts and limited play lists on GHR will appeal can only be decided once I start to listen.

JdotJ Thu 19-Jan-23 11:33:43

Hits not Huts 😁😁😁

HannahLoisLuke Thu 19-Jan-23 11:34:04

I can get it on my DAB radio

Have you got DAB radio in the kitchen? I get Greatest Hits on mine. You may have to do an automatic retune to find it.

He will be on Greatest Hits Radio every weekeday morning, with PopMaster. I like the fact that they play 3 songs, then the DJ pops in, then another 3 songs. I know they do have adverts, but if you chose your local area, they at least are relevant sometimes!

dayvidg Thu 19-Jan-23 12:15:16

I think it's only broadcast on the net, but I've been impressed with Radio Caroline Flashback.

I will miss Ken Bruce but apparently his new job will pay even more than his BBC £375,000. Will try to listen to him on Greatest Hits Radio but if the adverts are anything like Boom Radio I won't be able to stand it for long - most seem to be aimed at 'old people', quite depressing. We sometimes ask Alexa to play 60 or 70s hits - no adverts.

4allweknow Thu 19-Jan-23 12:28:03

Gransruleok. With you totally. The screeching is awful and Vine just shouts (on tv too). I'm fed up hearing all about what's going on in Scott Mill's world. Ken only during the week.

It is rumoured that Rylan is going to take over from Ken.

Quite different I expect.

OH NO!!!
Is there no escape??

Well, at least you won't be able to see him and his gleaming teeth grin

I think he's probably lovely in RL!

Oh no, not Walk-in baths, Life Insurance and Cremation adverts?

Lizzie44 Thu 19-Jan-23 12:37:58

I'll miss Ken Bruce and Popmaster - he's the only one I listen to on R2. He has said that it felt like the right time for him to move on, but I suspect that the offer of more money was a big help in this choice. It's a problem for the BBC not being able to offer the big money that many other stations/channels offer. Never heard of Greatest Hits Radio and don't know where to find it.

Sawsage2 Thu 19-Jan-23 12:47:33

I'll listen to Greatest Hits for Ken. But when the adverts start, I'll be turning off.

MattDanNana Thu 19-Jan-23 13:42:01

Boom radio is a good alternative if you can get past all the adverts!
I listen to local BBC radio station but there are huge changes coming there soon too.

Neilspurgeon0 Thu 19-Jan-23 14:46:07

Sorry casdon but no they are not! Someone up thread called Ken the last grown up on Radio Two and I absolutely agree. I have already switched to Anne-Marie Minhall on Classic FM and will reluctantly replace Ken in March with Alexander Armstrong if I cannot find where Ken has gone. The BBC just dumb down everything in the hunt for a younger audience that no longer listen to the wireless. Maybe we really should make this the last big protest of the sixties protesters.

It looks like they move them over from Radio 1 as they get older and the oldies on Radio 2 get the push. I'm another who won't be listening now Ken is going I thought I would when Steve Wright left but I'm sure now

There isn’t any indication that Ken has been pushed though, it’s his own choice. Unless you know more?

There are ways of making people feel unwelcome and it’s not a very comfortable way to be.

Just passed on the new info to my OH as he is more inclined to have the radio on. I like the sound of silence and a good book to read.

Peaseblossom Thu 19-Jan-23 15:02:35

gransruleok I totally agree with you he’s only one I listen to as well I’m glad he’s taking his pop master quiz to his new home.

polly123 Thu 19-Jan-23 15:08:18

Sorry to see Ken Bruce go as he has an attractive voice, manner and sense of humour. I also liked Paul O'Grady but he has gone too. Zoe Ball just witters on endlessly and Claudia W. on Saturday is usually rabbiting on about Strictly which I hate. Lisa Tarbuck is absolutely brilliant and her musical choices are superb. Wish she was on during the day when I do most of my listening. I shall be off to another station in March.

WhatNow Thu 19-Jan-23 15:29:14

I would highly recommend Boom Radio…Apart from dear old Ken, I gave up on Radio 2 ages ago as I felt the BBC had given up on us! Boom is just what the doctor ordered and of course, just brings back so many great memories.

Supergran1946 Thu 19-Jan-23 16:07:59

Getting so fed up with Radio 2 ! Can’t stand waking up to the gabbling of Zoe Ball every morning. The only two presenters I had any time for were Ken Bruce and Steve Wright. Like the way Jeremy Vine presents too. I want a radio show with light, popular music without adverts - any suggestions ?

Susieq62 Thu 19-Jan-23 16:45:23

Smooth radio is good
