A part of my formative teens gone.

Well there’s not much peace for David on this thread is there.
I wish I hadn’t started it.

Grandmabatty Sat 21-Jan-23 08:02:44

I'm glad you started it. It was a shame it was derailed. There was a concert of David Crosby and Graham Nash on bbc4 last night. I loved Guinevere had green eyes. The harmony was beautiful.

Indeed. And I’ve often been told off for posting in a thread to say it doesn’t interest me .. hmm by whom I m not sure I remember

Shinamae Sat 21-Jan-23 09:02:11

This thread was derailed by one certain poster, calling other posters, “ignorant” Then somebody else chipping in saying we shouldn’t be posting on this thread because we didn’t immediately know who was being talked about.Well slap my wrist and put me in the corner 😂😂

Callistemon21 Sat 21-Jan-23 11:31:19

Well, I asked politely because I was puzzled.

You can come and stand in corner with me….😂😂

They were great musicians and it was a time of very innovative music and it is a shame they have reached old age and are leaving us. Please don’t make this into another nasty thread, it was just a memory for a wonderful musician. If you didn’t know of him, why come on the thread?

Curiosity actually, but it’s not up to you or anybody else to question why people come on any thread..

I’d like you to pinpoint the nastiness please, because I believe it started early on in the thread when somebody was calling somebody else, ignorant..

No, I'm in the other corner!

I imagine David Crosby and his long lost son would be bemused by this thread smile and i bet they'd eat sausagemeat lasagne

Thirdinline Sat 21-Jan-23 12:55:56

I’d only seen images of him as an older man. Now TV has some lovely footage of him playing guitar with The Byrds & what a gorgeous cheeky face & Happy demeanour he had back then! RIP David Crosby. @Grandmabatty Radcliffe & Maconie played Guinevere had Green Eyes on 6Music this morning in memory of him.

Georgesgran Sat 21-Jan-23 13:10:48

I always thought he had kind eyes and was quite attractive back in the day.

SueDonim Sat 21-Jan-23 13:57:40

I rather think he’d enjoy reading it! He sounds as though he wasn’t a man to mince his words. grin

Oreo, what does your comment even mean? charming? you put yourself in a position of declared ignorance, do not be calling me out for your own lack of musical history/resonance, Byrds, CSNY, where have you been?

How bloody rude!!

Callistemon21 Sat 21-Jan-23 19:38:58

Well, to be fair, Oreo might not have been born when The Byrds were so famous.
They began in 1964 and disbanded in the early 70s and Crosby left in 1967.
In fact I thought Mr Tambourine Man was before 1965!

Perhaps she didn't connect them with Crosby, Stills and Nash.

Oreo Sat 21-Jan-23 22:01:07

Thanks Shinamae smile
Right, last word from me on this getting slightly weird thread,
I think I’m a bit younger than the main demographic here, but yes, The Byrds rings a bell although I couldn't tell you what their music was like.Have never heard of David Crosby or anyone else mentioned here.
I know Mr Tambourine man as DP has or used to have this on a Bob Dylan CD. I didn’t comment on this thread because I wasn’t interested btw in fact I was and wondered who he was, I assumed that somebody would say ‘ hey, his music was great, he did this song and that song.Which did happen later but not before I had received a couple of comments about being ignorant. Age apart, nobody knows everything there is to know about songs, songwriters and pop groups from the distant past.

Well why ask and be so aggressive as you obviously know ? I don’t understand. I am not coming on this thread anymore now. I just felt sad that a good musician had died. That’s all. End of.
