What advert makes you want to throw something at the telly?

There are so many. I particularly cringe at the one for Our Time dating for over 50s. I just want to punch the two simpering actors! Grrrrrr
Also, car adverts like Peugeot who think they’ll sell cars by speaking in a silly French accent.
I must be getting old!

I hope the ad executives are reading this thread! 😂
My cringeworthy ones are :-
the Halifax bench ad (it’s the song - Oasis??)
The On the Beach ad with the overweight boy. I imagine him as a young Donald Trump! 🙄
The McDonalds ad where they all march out of the office.
Daisy Daisy Daisy!!
Perfect Perfect Perfect!!
The Lloyds black horses ads.
The over 50s insurance ad with the neighbour boasting about his parsnips!
I agree that there seem to be a lot of PC families in adverts - usually black or mixed race. That’s okay if it’s something you can identify with.
I do love the meerkats though! Especially Sergei.😎 He’s cute.
I’ll probably think of more tonight, although I do tend to record progs so I can fast forward. I can’t think of many ads which have influenced me to go ahead and buy.

Daisy bloody Daisy so cheaply made and awful. Flash floor cleaner makes me want to throw something at the television. There are so many awful ones,

Some of the holiday ones are pretty grim and done to death one or two in particular which make you want to throw your shoes at the screen 🤣

"If you had all the money in the world and could do whatever you wanted, what would you do........?" Oh yuk!!!

Because you're worth it is of course right up there with the best.

I seem to be able to ignore adverts without even trying, so much so that I don't ever remember seeing the Daisy one that so many seem incensed by. I'm going to make an effort to check it out in the future.

All of them. I hate adverts. They add nothong to my life and tempt lots of people to buy things with no thought of usefulness or price.

gillyjp Sat 18-Feb-23 13:25:09

Ian Botham with Revititive for tired legs. Sitting there showing his gross feet to everyone. To think he was probably paid mega bucks for his wooden, unconvincing acting. Everyone has their price I guess.

Omaze ad and awful woman with her irritating voice.
We buy any car with people dancing around like idiots.

To name but some!

posset Sat 18-Feb-23 13:28:54

Seems like Daisy Daisy tops the bill!

Nannan2 Sat 18-Feb-23 13:34:22

Yes the daisy daisy daisy gets on my wick ! And can't see why on earth we would want to see that woman sitting on the loo advertising incontinance pads?oh, & that where they just scream really loud for ages.

BeneathTheHowlingStars Sat 18-Feb-23 13:48:03

The one that gets my back up most is the fabric softener one with the stupid song 'where is the sun etc' plus all perfume ads which seem to be on during every single ad break. Oh and there's a Hays travel one with a really annoying song.

Willow500 Sat 18-Feb-23 13:50:06

That stupid, stupid purple dancing cushion and the daft people prancing along behind it advertising one of the train companies - it's bad enough it's so annoying but doing it when there are so many train strikes is just infuriating!!

I agree about the graphic period pads too - anyone who needs them knows exactly what goes on them without the colouring!

On the beach , what a dreadful family what was the company thinking of when putting this ad together.

Quite. I think it's a clumsy effort to show a " normal" family on holiday........unlike " the Rheinhardts" ha ha!! Remember them? Audi? We used to nudge each other if we saw a stuck up looking couple/ family when we were out n about and mouth' Rheinhardts!' to each other 🤣🤣

mute on on the rare occasion I am watching itv stuff. The length of time the ads are on has definitely increased. Once time for a quick trip to the loo or fetch a jumper now time to make coffee and pour it out and they are still waffling on. The only adverts that register are those that ensure I will not use the product so stupid go compare and the annoying telephone jiggling about something direct. The first advert that used to really annoy me from years ago was the twee "why are your hands so soft" irritating child in itself but even all those years ago implying that only women washed up did not wash with me!!

Rosina Sat 18-Feb-23 14:07:48

I would probably give up watching TV were it not for recording everything we want to watch and then skipping through the ads. An hour programme takes about 45 minutes to watch if you can skip the build up and the ad breaks - I would lose the thread of some plots with the length of the break - five minutes each time.

Men chewing sweets in children voices, that one, cringe

Hobbs1 Sat 18-Feb-23 14:13:12

Most of them, but in particular all of those showing sanitary pads and bladder control, no need to advertise these on TV, there’s enough information online and in shops. Also the idiots leaping out of their cars, doing ridiculous dancing because they sold their car with we buy any car, drives me absolutely insane 😡🤬

Gwenisgreat1 Sat 18-Feb-23 14:15:37

No 1 - Daisy!!

Then the ones where a woman gets in the sit down bath, there's no mention of how long she freezes while the bath fills and she always gets out quite dry!

polly123 Sat 18-Feb-23 14:17:44

Probably all of them but on the rare occasion when I can't fast forward....find most of them patronising especially Verisure, cremation ads and anything to do with equity release. I can't believe people actually get paid for all these syrupy and silly ads where they actually haven't got a clue about the real world.

suse1 Sat 18-Feb-23 14:18:24

I cannot watch the dating add where he imitates the painting. Absolutely dire.

hallgreenmiss Sat 18-Feb-23 14:36:56

Verisure alarms 😤

That silly holiday ad with the Christmas music and an awful boy with an ice cream.

Just terrible.

I hate that gloating boy

BlueBalou Sat 18-Feb-23 14:44:24

Graham, his blasted parsnips and his damn Sunlife insurance

It makes me feel sick 😵‍💫🤢

Particularly the one advertising panty liners/towels for women. Paper pads/pants for loss of bladder control, ointments/creams for women for vaginal dryness. All totally embarrassing.
